Out of curiosity, are you a Perry Como historian? I have a few questions about his personal life which concern me (and I love Perry Como’s music and style, not to mention his personal warmth)

First of all, I am interested in his music and TV career, but I also know something about his personal life. Ask me, maybe I can answer :) By the way, I highly recommend the book "Perry Como: A Biography and Complete Career Record" (Malcolm Macfarlane, Ken Crossland)

@@CostAnder I’m curious on his thoughts about race and greater thoughts on working with and respecting black performers on his television shows and so forth. I read an article called “The Dark Side of International Studies” by Christian Davenport who had an anecdote about his mother and the time she auditioned on the Music Hall (possibly to be a regular on Perry Como’s show or just a guest) which ended with Perry yelling to Peter Genaro “I won’t have a negro on my show!” which is something I wouldn’t expect from someone like him although it did peak my interest when I read about it, but nonetheless it is the only negative story I’ve heard on his views of race. If you have any information on Perry’s views on black performers (he seemed kind and considerate to all on his show, shaking hands and such) I’d appreciate it if you would let me know.

@@geraldbaker4019 Hard to believe. He had plenty of "Negros" on the show. Including Lena Horne, Nat Cole, The Platters, Fats Domino and as far back as 1948, The Ravens appeared on his show.
