Kran Khu and Tonh Phea, and their three children, live in Mondulkiri province in Cambodia. They are reliant on growing rice for both their income and food. In 2020, they joined a local rice growing co-operative that is supported by Caritas’ partner, DPA, and this transformed their lives. They have learnt new sustainable ways of growing organic rice and have been enabled to share information, skills and produce with other community members. The Phea family are enjoying higher yields and a better price for their rice which has led to more income and opportunities to acquire useful items and save for the future. They have sacrificed a lot and are thankful for their current situation.
