Hey Pea, sounds like you hung out with alot of white families...wish you would've of hung out with people of color/ethnicities there where the customs are more along the line of Filipino people...ettiquette and food wise.
My wive survived 5 years in America with me. The second I said we had enough resources to retire, she started planning our move back to Mindanao. We returned HOME to Mindanao on October 1st. We both hope we never have to live in America again.
My wife and I built a home in the province of Davao del Sur, but live in California. Looking forward to returning there this August. My wife has no desire to permanently live there again.
As an American man living in the Philippines now for the past 19 months, and very aware of America's problems, I wouldn't wish America on any foreigner.
I have lived im the USA many many years ago ohio and New Jersey. I am happy i could. Great experience. Very comfortabke country if you have some money. Yet, i would not want to live my entire life there especially not now. Philippines a much better place (if you have some money).
The United States is a great country to live in but there are flaws. I think the politicians running the country are too old and incompetent. One can qualify for social security benefits and is considered old enough to retire in their early sixties meanwhile half of the political leaders are in their seventies and eighties. The current administration is the worst of my lifetime. The average American is a moron. If it’s not celebrity gossip, something entertaining on social media, or a popular opinion that a biased news outlet that they trust says the average American knows nothing. Honestly I don’t think the American men in the comment section should bring a Filipina woman or any foreign woman to live in the states while she’s still in her twenties or thirties because she will be easily influenced by how the average American women in their twenties and thirties act.

As an American living in SEA, that is the one striking difference for me too, everything seems so empty and lonely in the US, even larger cities. Asia is very active and bustling at the street level.
@@travelandmore808Yes, the advent of ubiquitous internet changed society. Malls used to be at LEAST twice as busy as they are on a typical day now, and I'm under 30 years old. It's actually really sad to live your entire life and people just want to hole up inside and be left alone. And I'm guilty of that myself!
Yes Pea, the toothpicks were for stabbing the grapes or cheese and eating, but not many people actually do it that way. Grabbing with your hands works just as well. No one suspected you were a foreigner because you have no accent. You speak perfect English. I agree with you that tipping every worker has gotten outrageous in America and prices for any service call for a repair or just a haircut are way too high! Only 7 extra pounds? Don't worry about it.😍
I disagree, the toothpicks are most likely not for that, but for cleaning your teeth afterwards. I've literally never seen anybody in America spear a grape with a toothpick, that just sounds absurd to me. I could see them being used for the cheese and maybe olives in some sort of mini-sandwich or some similar configuration, but that's so rare it's not even worth mentioning. Where I come from (Indiana), every single person in the room would've used their fingers for the grapes AND the cheese.
I would think the toothpicks are for the cheese and cannot imagine them for the grapes. I have seen toothpicks for lunchmeat slices as well. You sometimes see a spoon if nuts are offered but sometimes not and you must use your hands. @@ghostsade3
When my wife first arrived in the US she couldn’t believe she was actually in a city because of how quiet she said it is. One of her first comments was also “where is everyone?” Because there were houses every where but no one outside.
Yea, we really don’t hang outside. It’s more comfortable inside. Other countries hang outside bc it sucks inside.

My wife arrived during the summer here. We live in Kentucky so summer time is pretty miserable outside. 36C average temperatures with 99% humidity. Once the heat breaks and summer turns to fall then there are lots more people outside enjoying the cooler weather.

@@TheFilipinaPeayeah I thought about warning you about American food. I have a theory that it is genetically engineered/modified to make you crave it and it is designed to make you gain weight. That’s why I cook all my food from scratch at home and don’t eat out in restaurants much.
My wife lived in the States for 31 years. She loves it there.. We went home to the Philippines every year in the summer to visit her family we built our house here 30 years ago..When we retired we moved to the Philippines full time..our house was already waiting for us..Now we go home to the states every March and April to visit family there and to travel around the country we love driving out west seeing all the different landscapes. THE USA has a lot to offer if you just give it a chance.. Now we dont consider ourselves expats..and we are not retiring here forever. Before i turn 69 or 70, we are moving back to the states around the west coast of fla, mainly for better health care facilities and to be around our family more as we age..
Your story sounds like my story. We lived in USA 26 years in California. Retired here in 2015. Been here 8 years. I am 70 and wife 64. Not ready to go back yet to live in USA. We stay doing health things. Like you we come and go as we choose to!
@morrishooks7536 we do love travel here, too. We love going to Singapore and Australia, but Singapore is easier to get to.. We just made reservations for next June. Celebrating our 42 wedding anniversary and my 65 birthday. Hopefully, within 5 years, we'll be living in the Bradenton fla area to spend our golden years in.. Better hospitals, better restaurants, and much better electric grid.. Hopefully, our health will still be good enough to fly back here to stay for a month to visit family
@MrSGL21 Hopefully we can put down 350k on a Villa maybe a little more by the time we decide to buy.. people are buying villas all the time.. the insurance isn't all that bad on new villa's its the old houses that aren't built for storms that are expensive to insure. We've done pretty good with our investments and saving. We have just over 800k to play with.
I am a 67 year old Aussie been to the States numerous times since my first visit in 1974, sometimes staying for a few months. Most americans are friendly, polite and happy to have a discussion with you but lately meeting yanks overseas I have been amazed about their lack of knowledge about their own country. I have had to explain their history to them, their politics and I had to tell one 44 year old lady from Seattle that there are only 50 States, she thought that Pluerto Rico was a State. Sad .
Yes, it amazes me also, especially the people that complain about America, they all need to go visit a Third World country!, their attitude will quickly change.
My wife lived there for 13 years before we retired back here to the Philippines. I think honestly The Philippines is certainly a great place to live and be retired. I am currently in the US, and cannot wait to get back to The Philippines. I miss my home.

Win Rose first got to the US she was on complete sensory overload. She would only talk to other Filipinas and wouldn’t leave the house without me. But after almost 16 years now she’s become a social butterfly and has more close friends than she’s ever had. I’m so proud of her for the giant adjustment she made and how she looks forward to everyday now.👍

As an American married to a Filipina and also living in the Philippines with her for the past six years. From my personal experience what people from the Philippines will miss the most is the closeness of family. The average family isn't that way back home. Combine all the amazing things Americans have back home and I would trade all of it in a second for the family unit in the Philippines. That is a big reason why I have never left. My in-laws are closer and treat me better than my blood family back home. Once you are accepted by the family ( AKA you get married ) you will be a part of it just like any of the others. Hope you like chismis though ahah. My mother and father in-law when my wife and I fight with each other will support me over my wife typically. Same with the grandparents, aunts, and uncles. I said the family unit is close right lol? Marriage is so much more important and binding here. That whole way of life just isn't something Americans typically have back home. The other thing is also the ability to have a more easy going relaxed life. Everything back home is fast paced. FAST FAST FAST. It is very hard to just slow down and not grind out life. That part might not be a big thing for a Filipina at the start since they are such hard workers. As time goes on though because of the fast pace and the grind it makes it so you have less time for each other. Making it less likely you spend quality time together. That is just my two cents on what I have lived through. I personally am homesick since well I am an American, but I am just so happy here overall it is hard to go back. What I mostly see is that like most people not from America they view America a lot like the mice in the movie Fievel goes West. When the mice were migrating they're singing "There are no cats in America and the streets are paved with gold." Only to find out there are cats and the streets aren't paved with gold at all. America is great, but it isn't as great as what many think. We have our problems and struggles too. Completely different kinds, but they are there.
I have been here for four years, married, we own a townhouse. We live 6 or 7 hours' drive from most of her family. In fact, we are going for a week tomorrow, although my wife is always trying to extend to trip in conversation - a month, two weeks, etc. Her family are nice, the wedding celebration was good, but we are constantly bombarded with close and distant family requests for a money "loan." If it is not a bank loan or an important bill (as in service will be cut off if you are a day late with the payment), your "loan" goes to the back of the repayment line. Somehow, loans like that are not paid back. After all, they figure you can spare it can spare it - you are a rich American. I am on a fixed income, and what they don't see are the months in which the money runs out before the end of the month because of some unexpected repair, or yearly registration of the car, or anything else. There have been a couple of months in which we ran out of money with two weeks to go. The bills had been paid, there was food in the ref (not referee, Americans, but refrigerator) and in the cupboard. We could not do anything - we were lucky if we could scrape together the money for gas for church on Sunday. Rich American. LOL When my wife and I are at the family's place, and we get in the car to go to town for something, four or five pile in the car because they think there will be free Jollibee. We were paying utang na loob to her father - I accepted that, although I found out later that his girlfriend was mooching off of the money for his upkeep. One day before he died, she was leaving to go back to Manila for something, and on her way out, she asked me if I wanted to go to Manila with her. I did not realize that she was asking just me - I turned to my wife call out and ask her if she wanted to go to Manila, and when I turned back around, she was walking away fast. I had just been propositioned by my father-in-law's girlfriend. :-| He passed away later that year, and she did not realize that she was going to get nothing in inheritance. We have not seen her again, and good riddance. All that time, her high school age daughters had been staying in the house where we live when we go with my father-in-law, while their mother was probably scamming some other guy. The daughters were nice enough, but they are gone too. The mother is on to mooch off of someone else. There are drawbacks to staying here (traffic, basura, noise, beggars), but they are completely outweighed by the good parts - beautiful weather (endless summer), low cost of living, people in general are very nice (as long as you identify the few who will try to scam you), my wife is a gem. My church is wonderful, and they have a couple of weekly English-language Masses. I am not the Rich American there - for the most part, I am just Jim (or Sir Jim - still not used to that LOL). I have made great friends there. I wish I was picking up on the Tagalog more quickly, but one of the choir members usually whispers the translation of the homily (Taglish) in my ear. All in all, we will go for a two-week visit sometime when we can afford it, but I am pretty much staying here in the Philippines with my wife, and since she knows how almost everything works, she can boss me around, and that makes her happy LOL - all the while calling me "Boss." Funny how that works out ;-) But I am very happy here. I miss my US family and friends, but that is what Facebook and RU-vid are for. This is my new home.
@@jamesholden4571 isn't funny how women back home say we picked a Filipina so we can have a slave? Little do they know how these little women of terror can be very dominate at times!! lol. The way my wife gets to jump through hoops is because she makes me so damn happy!! I end up moving a mountain before even asking why lol. I laugh to myself at times how my wife can make me feel like the king of my castle while at the same time making me jump through hoops. I get the same thing about utang. My reply is always pulubi na ako! lol. I do help the family though just not through actual cash. Since from my personal experience has shown me money is very poorly managed most times. I also never carry cash and when asked for money by strangers I just point at my wife and we typically will buy food for kids or something to that nature. When the family asks for money from my wife she just says you have to talk to my husband since it is up to him. Which oddly enough filters about 95% of the people asking for utang. Then the 5% that do ask me are typically the ones with serious problems. IE the problem is bigger than worrying about the nose bleed.
@@alvincyrus9631 I originally came on a tourist visa. It is very easy to extend the tourist visa out like two years if I remember correctly. When I married my wife I became a permanent resident. Which if you are married is very easy to get to. Although very annoying to deal with immigration when applying. Basically they will tell you everything looks good then when you go back they say you are missing something. Happened four times to me. My advice would be to get married. Then get a permanent resident visa. There are other ways to get that status as well. Having a Filipina spouse in my opinion is the easiest way to get it. You 100% want to be a permanent resident too and not a tourist. Since you can't have a bank account here if you aren't a permanent resident amongst other things.

Agree 100 percent on the US tipping culture. It's out of control. Currently traveling the world and so glad I don't have to deal with any tipping at all, anywhere, in Australia, Malaysia, and many other places. In other countries where there is tipping, such as Thailand, it's maybe 10% at most.
There was one waiter at a surprisingly good restaurant - I wanted to leave him a tip because he was exceptional, but he said that he could not take it. The employers PAY their waiters here. It is bizarre to me that this is even a talking point. OF COURSE employers should pay their waiters LOL
The tipping culture thing is super recent, last 5-10 years. Before that it was cabs (but not ubers) barbers and waiters only, and maybe small amount for valets or porters at a hotel. I am in my late 30s and just ignore all other tipping than the preceding. It's basically part of the growing trend of self-victimization.
@@patrickwilliam3322 I agree, though I don't think that's the reason. I think it's because businesses can do tip pools and skim off the top, and of course if they can pay their workers less because they get more wages it's a win-win for them. So I agree, I typically don't tip outside of the things you mentioned.

@georgevigil7001 it took 1 year to get the letter saying my I129f petition was approved. Then it takes a few more weeks at the national visa center......then it goes to Manila and you make the medical and interview appointments. In all about a year and a half. But the backlog from covid is getting better so I hope you guys won't have to wait so long. I filed in July 2022.

Hi Pea. I am an American living in the Philippines. I have been here for 4 years. I have a quick story for you. I went on a 7 day cruise before moving here. Went with a couple of friends. We weighed one friend because we knew he was going to eat a lot. He figured he paid for it when he paid for the cruise. He had breakfast, lunch & dinner everyday. He ate at every midnight buffet except one. When we got home from the cruise we weighed him again. He had gained 12 pounds in 7 days. So you gaining just 7 pounds in 3 months is not as bad as you think. Just thought you would like the comparison so you don't feel so bad. Enjoy your videos, keep it up.
When I was in the Philippines in March, I lost 5 pounds. I am here again in Palawan, and we will see how it goes. I know a lot of it is the different activities that I do here. At home I go to the gym 5 days a week where here I go swimming, hiking and other activities with my girlfriend ❤ We will see when I get her back to America how we both do. We are both physically fit, so I think we will do alright.

I was with my wife's family on a boat headed to Laki Beach in Bataan . We crossed paths with a boat headed the other way . I waived and greeted them . My brother in law asked if I knew them and why I would greet them. I replied, " imagine a world if we all greeted each other like family ." That is the way alot of Americans are taught
I am a Mexican-American and have many friends who are Filipinos. One Filipina told me she was involved in an auto accident with another car that was driven by a Mexican. The Mexican person asked my Filipina friend if she spoke Spanish (assuming my Filipina friend was a fellow Mexican). My Filipina friend informed the other driver that she did not speak Spanish. The Mexican driver called my Filipina friend a "sell-out" because she did not speak Spanish. This example shows how Filipinos and Mexicans are familiar in appearance and mannerisms.
After walking through many cities in Mexico, Puerto Rico, and watching hours of KryptoTrekker's walked through the various areas in Central Luzon, I have to admit that there are great similarities in the culture despite language differences. Having worked in maquiladoras and in Filipino call centers, a lot of the mannerisms are very similar.
I would say this was a good introduction to the US but the magic is really in the Northeast, Southwest or Northwest of the US. Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, California, Oregon, etc are the absolute best places to visit for someone like yourself who comes from a tropical / relatively flat part of the world. I don’t hold it against you that you didn’t reach out when you were in Savannah :P, and I hope you get to experience some of the other places I mentioned in the future. Welcome home…
I would tell people to avoid most of those places. Especially California and Oregon. Other than those states having a different climate than the Philippines. Why those states? What do you think a person should see in them?
I agree that you must go to the Northeast and Pacific Northwest as well as the Western States. The South is nice but just a small part of US culture and a tiny part of the US’s GDP and population.
Hi Pea! Thank you for coming to visit us here in the American south. 🙂 Rents for apartments and such were not always this bad. Prices for rent and stuff SKYROCKETED after the pandemic. In 2019 and earlier (for the most part, anyway), prices here for literally anything were far more reasonable. I live in a place where the cost of living is not so bad compared to the rest of the USA but I have to pay nearly $100/month for internet, which I have to have for my work-from-home job. I really, really miss the days of $20/month internet and I'm scratching my head on where the heck you found it here. 🙂Also...most of us don't like licorice either, ha ha! I hope you come back to see us really soon!
My guess is that we define "fast Internet" differently from someone coming from the Philippines. I'm paying $95 for 600 Mbps on fiber to the door. I'd imagine that's a heck of a luxury in many smaller countries.

Hello Pea, as someone who has traveled to many different regions of the Philippines many times, your experience in America is similar to mine in the Philippines. You got to experience the Southern way of life in America which is completely different than a place like Los Angeles, Chicago or New York City. My experience in Luzon Island (Manila)is different than my experience in a place like Davao City. The way I was treated, the food, the culture, the hospitality will definitely differ in different regions. I am definitely glad you got to experience the nicest, and most hospitable part of the U.S. they are indeed very kind down south. I hope your next trip will be in the West Coast from San Diego up to Seattle.
I absolutely agree. The Pea has really seen the best the country has to offer. It does go down hill from here, though, especially at major financial hubs for the country. Here in Vancouver (Canada), people are polite, but about as cold as a glacier in Alaska. There are incredibly significant differences in the attitude of people in the south of the US to other places. Overall, though, there's nowhere I'd rather be in America than Texas, Alabama, or some such state. Really decent people there.

The "pay to play" ethic is what makes services more costly than goods. Basically, what you need to survive is dirt cheap, but what gives you enjoyment will cost you plenty! And there's a good reason why everyone is so polite to you Pea.. You're an absolute cutie!🥰🥰🤗
This was a really good episode Pea! I live on a sail boat in FL near Orlando on the coast. You should come over here and visit every state. Just to get a glimpse of what each state has to offer. I've traveled the whole US except for Alaska and Hawaii and maybe a couple other states. Everywhere you go is so interesting. You would be amazed. And then of course you could do your vlogs!!!! Plus it would give the Filipinas a view of what living in the United States is like from your point of view. That would be a great series to watch!

I've lived in both Orlando and Savannah but one thing that will take many, many more trips to understand is how incredibly massive and diverse the United States actually is. Hi Pea, Thanks so much for the kind comments about the US. Folks in the South are definitly friendly. Prices of everyhing from rent to gas has jumped up considerably. The cost of living where I am is not as bad as a lot of places. A lot of people are going to steaming TV instead of satilite or cable. I basically pay double than what my filipina friend pays for interent and 3 times as much for TV service. Yes there is plenty of great food here. My weight is like a yoyo .Up and Down . Weight gain , another form of inflation ! . America is diverse and there is freedom to speak as you wish even though there is a certain element that doesn't want that. I'm glad that you enjoyed yourself here.

That was a great video Pea. I grew up in the South and I miss it there. I now live in the western U.S. The one thing that I like here is the weather and the wide open spaces. But I miss the people from the South. I noticed a profound difference. People in the South when I lived there were much more friendly and wanted to know each other and there was much more of a feeling of community. Here in the west, people seem more unfriendly and unwelcoming and rude and it is harder to get to know your neighbors and make friends.
Pea: It's great that you got to experience more differences in cultures first hand from the Philippines and the United States. This is something that many wish to do, but sadly so many cannot. Learning about other places around the vast world we live in is a great way to actually see how huge this planet is, yet find out how small it can seem as well in some of the similarities as well as the differences. Personally I loved this series of videos because you gave so much respect to the country you visited. I've heard stories and watched videos about people traveling to other countries and did not do their research on what would and would not be allowed in the form of attitude from people in those countries, while finding themselves in a deep pile of doo-doo they created for themselves, and begging for their home country to bail them out. But it came with no surprise to me that you packed a big bag of respect and handed it out like Santa hands out Christmas presents on Dec.25th. You are just the type of person that knows that you must give respect in order to receive it. As far as bringing a Filipina back to the Western society, it all comes down to a person to person basis. Being that every person is unique, so is every situation in that matter. Maybe a trial period to see how she adjusts to the mind altering differences. Or even suggest a series of long visits to help her become aware of the differences rather than just plucking her out of the Philippines and trying to plant her in the West. As for the weight gain, you actually did awesome to not gain much more than that! Many people would have thought double that with all the new exciting flavors and portion sizes. Just the portion sizes would have had a huge part in that, but the added flavor excitement would have kept the taste buds wanting more. I am so glad that your trip was filled with happiness and safety, and I wish you many more adventures in the future to video and bring to your channel for us to enjoy as well.
"Learning about other places around the vast world we live in is a great way to actually see how huge this planet is, yet find out how small it can seem as well in some of the similarities as well as the differences." Dead on correct!!! Sadly, only around half of Americans even have passports. Possibly in part due to finances (international travel can be expensive), and possibly also because America is so huge an varied that you can take a vacation every summer for life here and still only see a fraction of what the country has to offer. Also partly because sheer geographical logistics. In the EU, you can hop on a train and be in two or three (even four, depending) countries in a single day. But America is functionally a (really gigantic) island. Its at least a four or five hour flight from NYC just to set foot in Europe, and even longer from LAX to Asia. Still, I wish Americans traveled more. Really does enlarge one's perspective. And Americans are blessed with a "strong" Passport. It will get you into all but a dozen or so of the world's 192 countries without even needing a Visa, or easily getting one on arrival (and would you really want to vacation in North Korea anyway? 🤣).
My wife has been here in the U.S. for around 4 years and she absolutely loves the convenience, how nice people are (be it genuine or fake), the opportunity and the ease of daily life here. She said guys are more outgoing and flirty here (neither of us are even remotely jealous people). She said jobs are endless and easy to find, but was amazed how lazy most American employees are. She gets spoken Spanish to all the time and thinks it's funny. She hates how expensive things that are good for you are and mostly hates how bad our fast food is and how bad the service is. She hates our lack choices and crazy cost of fruits and veg. She loves our seasons (Kentucky). She hates how empersonal and commercial our Christmas season is. She's lived in HK and Singapore and been to multiple countries and said overall she loves it here. She doesn't like the cost of living and quality of affordable food. But she says overall life is easier here. We do plan to retire in the Philippines in 8-10 years in our late 40's to early 50's. Our quality of retirement will be MUCH better there (lower Bicol region)... Awesome trip! I think if anything, your body looks better. I like a thicker gymnast/cheerleader/sprinter/soccer player type body than a super lean marathoner type body. Ingat! 👍👍

PS > You were in the South where friendliness, politeness, and hospitality are highly desired personal virtues. So, other area could have a different experience. You are right, the tipping thing has gotten out of control here. So have rental prices. I'm paying 2x what I was paying a year ago, and I am in a much smaller place. Overall great analysis on the usa. You did only see one region. The south is much more friendly vs the west or north east. Alot of other cultural differences between each region I notice from living in each region thru out my life. Same goes for the Philippines and its regions. I am totally for a bidet to take over the usa. Hope you get to return to other region. I do love exploring each region of pi. Btw every episode should have minimal 1 bikini shoot.

Yup, this is pretty accurate. And we work for so long because it's expensive and we can't always retire. I have seen people retire and have to come back to work because they couldn't live off retirement. Happens a lot. :(

You for sure got the southern hospitality. Glad you had a good time. I can almost guarantee if you would have gone to LA or New York it would have been a completely different experience.
I think if she’s from the province and have never been away from her family, she wouldn’t want to leave. However if her family is really poor and her parents especially want to go to the US, she will do her best to convince you to bring her to the west. If she’s young and beautiful, bringing her to the west can be disastrous. It all depends on her parents. Filipinas often place their parents next to God in influence of her life.
Years ago my friend was in the Navy and married a Filipino. He brought her to the states (Ohio) to live and they were raising two sons when she just decided to leave and she never looked back. Very little contact with her two boys who were young when she left. I could see that my friend did not live a life that would cultivate a good family relationship (he was off boating and fishing every chance and left her with the boys). I just couldn't understand leaving the boys. One did eventually commit suicide and she never attended the services.
Dear Pea, I'm German. I made, in the North-East, the South and the West of the US quite the same experience as you - very hospitable, often forwardly friendly and helpful people. I felt always well with Americans. You present the differences with the Philippines in a special matter - again with your mindful way of understanding people - so that I as a German can indeed learn. Remarkable. And don't mind the few pounds more - they fit you well! With or without, the man who may enjoy to be your partner in life - is a truly 'lucky prince'! Ah... Hi Pea, very good topic. I live in the US for 4 years then moved in Europe living same country for the past 40 yrs. I’ll say no matter how much gourmet you’ve eaten nothing can be compared to Home Sweet Home. Food in foreign countries are good much more in Europe but when you’re eating it everyday you still long for the food you grew up. Much more you missed the bonds from your families, relatives and friends you’ve had before. Despite my families are in the US but honestly almost everyone I knew prefers to go home. That Filipino interaction even among strangers, smiling, friendliness, the vibes, the jokes, the warmth of our Kababayan that we carried anywhere we go. One priest said, if the church is full up and huge participation there’s Filipino community. I traveled much anywhere but only in our country I felt relaxed. I’m going early next year for much longer period and hopefully to hear from you. 😊👍
Something that surprises me is not the wildlife you saw on your travels, but the lack of wildlife in the Philippines. I live in Toronto, I believe it is something like the 10th largest city in North America and my back yard sounds like a wildlife jungle compared to what you said about the Philippines. I have raccoons, squirrels, rabbits, skunks, foxes, cats, porcupines, and I've also come across a couple small snakes (non-venomous). I have even seen a wolf on my street just a couple houses down from me one night. Not to mention all the birds. There were also a couple other animals that I'm not 100% sure what they were, but I only saw them once or twice.
She is certainly right about no wildlife in Philippines. I have been bicycling the country roads for years and I’ve yet to see a living creature A few run over snakes and frogs but the only prize was a small crocodile. Alas it was also run over
Thank you for your comments on "feeling welcome, and not looked down on." Racism is used as a tool in the US to subjegate certain groups. Also, the South is much, much more friendlier than the North East for instance. And much more densely populated up there too. But, most of your obsevations were spot-on! I do agree that racism is a tool used by some to shut down other people's freedoms like the first amendment but it's not because of racism per se.i do disagree with your prejudicial statement about the northeast and the south. When I live in the south for several years I was shocked that everyone used the N word when talking to black and about them. And I'd never been stopped by police in the north ever for having a Yankee or rebel license plate like I was in the south and threatened by police to spend a weekend in jail unless I had some cash for the sheriff. So I guess that's how southerners display friendliness. In my day the preferred term wasn't racism, it was prejudice. Like when people generalize about groups of people and assume they're all alike. It's based on ignorance.
Thank you for all the great information you put out will be moving to the Philippines as soon as I get all my documentation for me and my dog hoping to meet a nice lady to spend the rest of my life with. I’m not that old at 58 so we will have a few years to enjoy ourselves.
I am so happy and proud of Americans for our good behavior and relieved at the same time! 1st impressions are critical! There is an image people have of America that you saw firsthand wasn’t accurate. Americans are Very friendly, and yes, we will talk to anyone around us like we’ve known them for years. We are not only friendly but helpful as well. There’s always someone around you who is willing to help if needed, no questions, no expectations, just to help, then they move on with their day. That’s the way we are. My favorite example is a N. Korean refugee who made it to America, she didn’t speak English, had a bag of groceries which fell and all the people around her stopped to help her pick everything up. Would not have happened where she is from. She was apologetic for not speaking English and people here told her that’s ok we’re sorry we don’t know Korean for you. And my absolute personal favorite is how friendly men were to her with no expectations, and as she said “Asian women are popular in America”! Hahaha… Americans love all women, but something about Asian women really draws our attention and captivates us. Again, no expectations, we just enjoy having you around!
As a 63 year old man who has lived in the USA his entire life my thought is USA "you can have it". I recently visited the Phillipines for 3 months and am eagerly awaiting my move to Bohol to permanently live ❤.
3 months and you’ve already turned on your country?? 😂😂 I hope you are successful there but never down your own. If the world throws you away, America is the only place that’ll bring you in 👍🏻
Hi Pea, glad to see you got back safely. Great video. If you get back to America, try to stop at some of our national parks but do not get close to the wildlife. Some of the tourists are under the mistaken impression that they are tame and kept in a barn at night. We have many animals that are quite capable of killing you and some tourists get the Darwin award by not getting out of the park alive. See you Friday and take care of yourself.

I am not surprised at all that people treated you well. My wife travelled with me extensively for several years and with her blonde hair and bright smile she was always treated better that I was. Thats just the way it is. Also my rule of thumb on toothpicks is Use them to keep your fingers clean. Things that might leave your fingers greasy like meat or cheese, or things you may want to dip use a toothpick. Things that are naturally clean like a grape fingers are fine. Glad to se you had a safe and entertaining trip.
7 lbs is not an unusual gain for being on vacation. for anyone, anywhere. I thank you for seeing we are not a racist country. There are isolated incidents that are used for political purposes BUT it does not reflect this country as a whole. I am a 72 year old military veteran who attended the first integrated school in Florida in 1967 and we never had an issue. We had every mix of culture. we studied together, played together, worked together, etc. When in the military it was the same. I learned to appreciate and respect every culture I encountered in my lifetime and I have been to many places. I am so happy you told it like it is. As in every culture in every country there are those few who like to cause trouble. Here, unfortunately, these infrequent circumstances are picked up by the media and used to push whatever the political agenda is recently. When I was a kid, my traditional southern grandma would have slapped me upside the head if I ever disrespected anyone. Again, I cannot thank you enough and sorry I missed you when you were here in Florida .
I'm an Asian American and recently started to travel throughout southeast asia. I have visited 7 out of 10 ASEAN nations. I totally understand what you are talking about the difference in culture. Here in the US, it's common to start a conversation with a total stranger. I always thought it was the language barrier that prevented me from having conversations with strangers in Asia. Now hearing from you, I realized that it could be a cultural issue. The biggest difference I felt was the amount of litter in the streets. Here, I would never consider throwing trash on the floor, I would look for a trash can. I had trouble finding any public trash can. Another thing that was hard for me is that the prices are not listed. You have to ask the street vendor for the price of the food, it always feels like I'm being taken advantage of. The level of noise is also another major difference. Throughout Asia, all the streets are constantly full of bike honking. It's considered rude to honk here. You only honk when it's needed. I have a big problem with the way dogs are treated. You are surprised at how much we pampered our pet, I'm surprised at the level of indifference Asians feel about dogs. I have two little Chihuahuas that basically rule my house (yes, they get to live indoors with me). I'm still learning and I plan to keep traveling to Asia. My goal is to visit all the ASEAN nations, only 3 more to go. The Philippines and Laos are next. I'm not sure about Brunei. I am watching your channel to get ready for my next adventure. Hello Pea! As an American I am glad that you had a reasonable good experience while visiting there. Unfortunately Florida is the worst place in the South to do price comparisons for just about anything especially rentals and restaurant prices. Airports are overly expensive everywhere for push carts and food purchases. Yes! You are absolutely correct with regard to tipping as it has gotten completely out of control ever since the Covid pandemic!
It is worth noting that the very culture of the US seems to shift dramatically depending upon where you are. Washington is different from Arizona, which has a different atmosphere then New York and Georgia. One person I know once said it seemes like at times the US is 50 smaller nations in a trench coat pretending to be one big nation.

That said how often do you see, even in the comment section of this video comments like "The North is worse," or "Fuck California" (or New York, or any other state for that matter) "Me against my brother; my brother and I against the World," seems to be the US' unofficial motto, especially given the current political divisions. It will probably die down in a few years, but the base rivalry will remain I think

You're right about the smell of pot. I hate it. I work across the street from a pot growing and processing plant. Sometimes, it smells so bad it make your nauseous. The tipping culture IS out of hand. I don't tip at fast food places. If I'm not sitting at a table and getting a server, I'm not tipping. Glad you had a nice visit.
I’m glad that you had a good time in the US. While we all speak the same language for the most part, different parts of the country might seem like a totally different country. In the southern United States people do seem to be a bit more friendly and strike up a random conversation with a stranger. In California you might be seen as creepy for doing the same. I’m glad that things were clean where you were at. In other parts of the country it’s dirtier and more messy than most 3rd world big cities that I’ve been too. I’ve toured many Filipino tourists through San Francisco. Most are shocked to see the masses of homeless, the garbage and human waste on the streets and sidewalks, and the smell of that human waste. California does have a lot of nice places, but people are just shocked that it’s not what they expected.
I was raised in California in the 50s and 60s. A time I now consider the golden age of California and much of America. I'm very happy living the Philippines now and will do what I must to stay here

No matter how it shakes out people are individuals. It's likely everyone will miss home at some point but there are the few that are nomadic at heart and can live anywhere
