Jason's views in things are actually very realistic. The way batman handles things is just a never ending cycle, he fights the bad guy, puts them in prison then they get out, what batman is doing simply isn't enough to keep gotham safe. That's what I love about Jason he questions batman's methods rather then just blindly going along with them

yes but if Batman killed he wouldn't be a hero anymore. He'd be a vigilante. No other main DC heros resort to killing. And Batman doesn't want to be any where close to being like Joe Chill. Including killing. I think Batman's philosophy is a much more interesting one.

@@bencheveryday Honestly it really isn't, batman can claim that he just doesn't want to become the joker but really his problem can be narrowed down to him being scared of crossing the line of murder. Even if the murder is justified, would stop crime or even if the murder would directly save countless others. In that light I'd claim that batman IS a vigilante and NOT a hero because his quest just like red hood's is personal.

Batman's crusade isn't just a never ending path, it's a contradictory philosophy. He works outside the law out of necessity to fight crime, yet then his honour believes the criminals should be judged by the system he works outside of. Batman could have worked inside the force or justice system to reform it, or gone full on vigilante and hunt every criminal who escaped justice, and both methods would have worked, but Batman's heroic path in the long run does nothing

THIS!!! THANK YOU VERY FUCKIN' MUCH! Batman's existence is because the system doesn't work, but he keeps handing abhorrent villains like Joker back to the same system that he knows doesn't work and thus they come back and cause more damage. Who can look at this and not think that and not think that Batman is also becoming part of the problem just like the system? Remember the arc, Cold Days where he goes as Bruce to court to insure that Freeze isn't sentenced to death wrongly? What about Bruce goes to court just to ensure that Joker actually gets the fuckin' rope.

@Deltario Brown following that same logic batman is a human, he ages and will die of old age at some point yet that didn't stop DC from giving us an old man batman still doing what he does and beating superman as a bonus. Just make new villains if batman kills any well known ones or just end the story there and make a new one. Plain and simple.

True but so are a lot of the antagonists in both Marvel and DC comics. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire which is something both Red Hood and The Punisher are good at. The problem is that they both have bad tempers and sometimes that clouds their judgement like when The Punisher was after Spider-man. This also results in them not knowing when to stop.

Comic book authors sadly keep trying to go against the trope he was designed for by putting him in a middle ground and it never works. They want him to be an anti-hero but then find every convenient excuse not to have him kill anyone just so he can still be the Batfamily's good graces. It's honestly surprising that they can't just commit to making him a tragic character that has an understandable and compelling motivation. Of course, if his story is instead ultimately about post-traumatic growth, then they need to deliver on that.

If Batman's afraid there won't be going back for him if he kills even once completely conciously, than that suggests a serious mental and/or emotional weakness in him for not being able to distinguish those who can only be stopped by a permanent end and those who can be stopped by less extreme measures. Batman is responsible for all the deaths of civillians for giving so many criminals so many chances to do what they alaways did.

Batman doesn't let Joker literally get away with murder he brings him in to serve justice in jail...Unfortunately, Gotham city has no death penalty so the fault is their own. Period. Batman does have the spine to kill he just chooses not to because in his mind he feels that he will be no better than the Joker/villains he faces. I agree with Jason's method more but let's not get too crazy with it there is a balance between the two. Putting someone in the hospital is more than enough to make a point or get someone to change as it helps with like the majority of the thugs in Gotham. Seeing as how Batman is well known villains know he is competent so he is a threat. A hospital bed and bills are enough of a deterrent to any average thug. Nobody likes pain and it's a great motivator to get people to stop he does more so than most heroes but I agree a bit more with RH. RH's goal is to be a hero that's why he strives to help Gotham through killing.

What do you do with people like Joker??!Who're so mentally damaged and deranged that they love th pain that Batman delivers and sees being put into jail and being chased by him as a game of cat and mouse? In the meanwhile,Joker gets to murder incessantly and kill so many people as collateral damage because he knows in the end Batman is never gonna kill him. The point remains the same. RH is trying to get rid of such horrible villains, not simple goons an thugs who're often just poor desperate people working to make a living. He want to kill such Villians who're beyond redemption and refuse to learn or stop and only thrive on the Pain that is delivered by Batman. How many people are supposed to die at their hands before Bruce finally sees that some people do need to be killed off to protect the masses against them!?!

I discussed this awhile back on another site that both Red Hood and Batman have a point when it comes to their way of doing things so it’s kind of hard to say that either one of them is wrong or right. As everyone knows, Batman never kills if it can ever be prevented. He chooses to use fear as a weapon to incapacitate many of his foes because he knows that all it takes is one step too far and he could end up just like what he’s trying to fight which is more than understandable. However this sort of handicaps Batman because the most dangerous villains can’t be intimidated. This also means that every time that Batman spares them they have the chance to get out and do more damage. To be fair, some have tried to get rehabilitated but for various reasons things didn’t last. Batman’s way may be justified and understandable but it definitely is not effective and it probably is costing Bruce Wayne and the rest of Gotham far more than it is the villains just to lock them up and occasionally give them counseling that rarely works so Jason does have a good point when that is considered. As for Red Hood, he takes sort of a Punisher approach which is more than understandable considering what he went through when he was Robin. After his brush with death, Jason leaves little room for things like honor or morality to cloud his judgment which is why he’s so effective. That’s actually one of the biggest reasons why heroes lose to villains in comics or shows. The best example off the top of my head is the 80s Transformers show. Optimus Prime lost a lot to Megatron in the first season all because of some code of honor and Batman is no exception. Three of his sidekicks were psychologically abused by the Joker(one who actually was killed temporarily) all because of Batman’s restraint so it’s kind of easy to get whyJason had contempt for him for some time. Red Hood doesn’t hesitate which is the very reason why even though it may make him seem cold-blooded his way is far more efficient. Sometimes it takes a monster to beat one.

I like Jason's methods with dealing with crime, but Batman's methods is also good, the dilemma here is this ''If I kill I become a monster and it's better to break instead of taking away and plant fear' that's Batman for me but Red Hood is just ''If I just break then they won't change, but if I kill then they'll fear me and perhaps stay low''. In my idea personally both ways are flawed cus on one hand if I don't kill then crime won't stop, but if I do then I'm a criminal myself. I'll quote Jason on this one ''What do you with those who aren't afraid? I'm doing what you won't I'm taking them out!!!''. If I was like Red Hood or Batman it would just be '' Scare the thieves, Hurt the Dealers, Break the Leaders, Kill the Monsters'', honestly if a criminal like Joker was on the loose I'd kill him cus the only reason he is doing what he is doing is cus he knows Batman is always there to stop him but not kill him, prompting him to just re-do everything. All of Batman's rogues gallery are just unpunished and fearless trash that understand that Batman doesn't kill so mind aswell do whatever we want and start over again cus it's never over. But when they understand that they're life is on the line then they will stop.

To be honest I can understand why Bruce doesn't kill, he understands his mind enough to know that if he killed he wouldn't be able to stop. But what I don't get is why he doesn't let others do it for him, it's like he said at the end of Batman Begins, "I won't kill you, but I don't have to save you." It's the reason Jason is my favorite Dc character, he has the drive to do what needs to be done, and he has the self-control (as ironic as that sounds) to determine who needs to die and who doesn't.

Batman said he be the happiest if the joker died I know some one is going to say he tried to save the joker but ask your self question when your present with new information on weather or not Batman will kill the joker or let joker die 1 is it canon if it not that mean it basically mean nothing when your talking about main universe canon 2 when does it take place in the timeline as it Before or after the effect letting Batman let the joker died or kill joker 3 the context of the situation why Batman is making the decision or is it out of character

He's my least favorite Robin actually. I was not a huge fan of them bringing him back from the dead either. I always felt that his death was such an important part of shaping how Batman would evolve as an overall character in the modern era. His death was this haunting reminder of Bruce's greatest failure and added an extra layer of depth to the dark knight. Back then, death was a much more permanent thing in comics and was used very sparingly to great effect. It's a bit different nowadays though...
