One thing I really appreciate about you guys is that you don't just tell us what choices you made but also why you made them. Little things like the color calibration square example are incredibly helpful! You guys make some of the best tutorials out there - seriously.
I forgot that is was Monday until the Mango Street Lab Instagram post reminded me to go check RU-vid. Not only are you great photographers, you have proved to make pretty good calendar reminders in the form of videos, too. I love all the oranges in the images from this shoot. And honestly, for a camera that is a quarter of the price roughly, the Canon stood up pretty well to the Hasselblad.
I absolutely loved this series. You guys are big inspirations to me, so to see how you do a shoot is extremely cool to me. As for the camera comparisons, i honestly feel like the Canon held up really well against the Hasselbrand, even though the Hasselbrand had more defined photos.
I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH. Changing my life. I just bought a Rebel T6 secondhand. I'm trying to learn social media photography for my marketing solo business. You guys are a pleasure to learn from. I'm hungry for every video. I've watched them ALL and I just found you like 4 days ago haha. There's no fluff, there's no nonense. Just facts, helpful information, solid opinions. Please blog way more though. I'm so interested in everything you guys do.
I had a Photowalk recently where I met up with strangers who also were photographers and they also watched your channel. Thank you for your time you put into these videos.
It’s the dynamic range that is the main obvious difference, when you go from finish editing the X1Ds file and then pull up the 5D4 image the sidelight on the subjects faces look slightly blown out! It’s only a minor thing tbh but that natural “levelled” look the X1D gives looks a dream to edit!
I watch sponsor plugs only on your channel because it feels like part of the lovely ride. I could skip it but it would shorten this soothing journey. Also, oh god the dynamic range and tones from the Hasselblad! 😍😍
I just have to send a huge thank you to you both! With your help I have gotten into photography and feel like most of my style has been learned from watching your vids and implementing the skills. Thank you so much.
honestly just really impressed by all the photos and shocked by how well the Canon stood up to the hasselblad. I haven't seen a video that proves the gear doesn't matter as much as this one does
Everything about these photos is absolutely incredible!! Also going to take the time to say that I love your RU-vid channel! The way you film, edit, and script videos is on point and you can tell you guys put a lot of effort into them! You seem like very cool, real people and y'all inspire me so much! Keep up the amazing work you two 🙌🏼
I was really surprised but I feel like I kind of preferred the shallower depth of field that the Canon had over the Hasselblad. Both looked great and Ioved the aesthetic of this shot and its environment. Totally timeless!
This series was very useful and super fun to watch! You guys are making me gain back the excitement I had lost a bit towards shooting lately and watching you and your work is encouraging me to learn more and more. Thank you, you are awesome!
Technically, the Hasselblad destroyed the Mark IV, in my opinion! So much smoother, not a crank sharpen feel, and better tones and depth overall, also thanks to the medium format, of course. You can see the screaming differences even in a youtube trashed quality video (can't say if this is so prominent on the actual screen). But they are not in the same league anyway, haha. In terms of creativity, you guys has proven once more that the camera doesn't make the photographer. Always nice to see your beautiful work.
The Hasselblad just had this vibe to it that I can't describe, probably because I'm new to photography but I still notice something is different about it I guess it's like comparing a high end production guitar (ie: Fender USA, Ibanez Prestige, ESP, etc) to a custom from a smaller company. It's that little bit of flair and personality that makes it stand out, even if the price difference is insane.
Love the colors straight out of the Hasselblad X1D. I also want to thank you guys for posting this series. I’ve always wanted to create a shoot with an organized theme/style and this series definitely helped out a whole bunch!
The 5D Mark iv held up super well. I could barely tell the difference, although being colourblind that's not surprising.Great video guys! Loved this series!
I will give my complete unprofessional opinion. The 5D Mark IV (camera which I own) didn't quite hold up in terms of dynamic range which is the only notable thing I noticed.
I've been wanting to do a photography shoot and I didn't know how to do it, and I didn't have the confidence. This series gave me both an knowledge and the confidence! Great job!
I think the biggest thing we can take from this is preference. I liked both and for me the difference was not that noticeable that I would spend that much on a X1D, though some people might prefer the sharpness and colors of the X1D.
I don't know if this is just the model performance in some of them, but I prefer the 5D over the hasselblad in some shots. Over all the think the hassal has a warmer tone to its photos and the dynamic range really helps make the shots look more cinematic
Nice to see you guys are curating your sponsors well. I think I still like the Canon 5D Mark IV better, from all aspects of price point, to quality and pixel density. 16-bit colour depth does sound nice though... Keep up the great work! :)
This is such an amazing series. I would love to see more like this. This is basically my dream process but I feel like I will never quite get there. Thank you guys for your amazing content
I’m so pumped about your channel thanks so much your photography is next level Light room ninjas too I’m a fan will be liking and have subscribed straight away cheers from Sydney Australia
