as a physics student, I'm actually surprised that I never got a scenario or problem relating to gymnastics. This was really interesting!

I actually got one in high school! It was about the forces pulling on the arms of male gymnasts when they go into an iron cross, and how it gets like exponentially harder with every angle closer to horizontal.

In this event, she earned many connection points for linking math, physics and the sport. On top of that, she aknowledged the limitations of her calculations, which is welcomed by this judge panel (me). However, I'm gonna deduct 0.8 pts for the pen color. It is hard to see what is being written. Therefore, the final score is my like.

Science is a fun subject by itself. The problem usually lies in how it is communicated. If the teacher inundates the students with equations without relating how it is applied in the real world, the lesson tends to get lost and you have a room full of disinterested people asking "why do I need to learn y=mx + b? How will it help me pay my bills?"

Here is some physics that can help. I can skip the equations. Basically, the longer something is, the more torque you apply to something. So if you need to change a tire and you can't get a lug nut off, if you have a pipe or something around that you can use to basically make the wrench longer, it will help you get it off without needing someone stronger.

I use to teach gymnastics. I'm also horrible at math. Kinda crazy watching this, we can see how we both are using it to teach, complete & improve skills without even knowing it!! When you're coach tells you to tuck tighter/sooner, release earlier, jump forward/higher, run faster, etc., it's bc of physics!! Also, I bet you often just know or can feel what you did wrong & need to correct when you mess up a skill. Same thing...you're using your knowledge of physics!!😃 Pretty crazy stuff, huh?!?🤯😁🤪😅

As someone who majored in physics and tutors in it, don't learn it for your gymnastics. You will be in your head too much. There are some sports where it can help. In gymnastics you have to trust your body. Do what feels right. Know your limits and your potential
