Battlefield V was such a disappointment coming after the masterpiece that is BF1. However, it does have an in game mechanic where you can switch to the indirect fire mode which is kinda neat.
OK enough of the hints already, we know what you want for Christmas and I'm sure for such a good boy, Santa's elves are currently busy with the correct shade of dark green paint ( and not the bright red Panzerfaust Granny knitted for you the other year ).
@@TheArmourersBench Although after four decades of asking for a Tiger Tank and never seeing that 57 tons of glory under the tree, and only various consumer knick-knacks, and being mostly very good, I'm beginning to think the whole thing is a swizz.
A few quick clarifications: while Forgotten Hope 2 uses the 2004 era Battlefield 2 engine the mod was started in 2007 and it is still being developed so the models and animations we see are much newer and more refined than contemporary games as a result. Also, the functionality of the PIAT in Post Scriptum is worth noting as you pivot the weapon around the bipod and you can adjust the sights to different ranges (this is also why the sights were backwards in the Forgotten Hope model as you can't adjust them in that game). I would have liked more consideration given to use of the PIAT vs purely cosmetic features but I understand that you were limited to the footage you had available at the time. Great video all around though!
Thanks for watching guys! Here's the accompanying article for this video - armourersbench.com/2020/11/06/the-piat-in-video-games/ We'll have a full, in-depth, video on the 'real' PIAT soon!
This might surprise you, but Darkest Hour is still in Development and we have been doing a overhaul of our allied weapons. We are currently working on a new Piat and we intend to get 5 out of 5 so we hope you might add a review once finished. Our previous model was absolute trash!
12:30 the formerly presented Red Orchestra mod "Darkest Hour" does actally offer a #2 acting as loader. It does this for the PIAT, the Bazooka and the Panzerschreck. It reduces the reload time by a very large margin.
As a kid I played Medal of Honor: Allied Assault: Breakthrough and I thought "what the hell is this gun" so I whent to my library and got a book on British infantry weapons of ww2 and found out I was real. The same with how I found out the French were in Vietnam with the mat 49 in conflict : Vietnam on the PS2 in 2004.
Same! Games are a really important door to an interest in history which a lot of academics either ignore or don't take seriously. That's why I think accuracy in games should be appreciated. We can't hold them up to super high standards but we should appreciate the role games have in introducing new generations to history.
Reminds me of this old motivational poster with a guy standing in the hall outside his bedroom door with an AT-4, with the caption, "Just because you can doesn't mean you should." Pretty sure it was a U.S. Marine, actually. 😄
Can I nominate one? Lol. The game's called "Company of Heroes", well, the PIAT actually started to appear in the extension called "Opposing Fronts". It's a RTS not FPS game though, but it was the game that introduced me to the existence of the PIAT when I was young.
@@TheArmourersBench The PIAT units in the game are quite unique comparing to the other FPS game, because they can indirect fire over the building or dense bush. The very first time I played the game, the PIAT freaked me out, when the shells started to rain on my panzer out of nowhere. haha
@@TheArmourersBench There's a similar themed and styled channel to yours called Armoured Archives by Ed Francis who does a bunch of sifting through UK archives and publishes video on AFVs on youtube and discord btw you should check them out
