Those are one of my favourite gecko species. Actually it is a very good example of convergent evolution. It is like a crested gecko that tried to become a teratoscincus. Unfortunately they are too expensive yet. Everyone is talking that they are very prolific and one day they will become popular to all, but that they never comes.

They are very cool indeed! I don't think they'll ever become general pet store geckos, but stranger things have happened for sure. The first crested geckos i owned cost me $3000!

Reptilian Diaries do you notice any difference between your first crested geckos and the recent ones? I am under the impression that the recent ones are much less robust and healthy. Breeders select mainly on fancy colours and not real structure and health. Now I finally got hold of a quite old male crested gecko which is still very healthy. Also the biggest specimen I know.

hai, im from indonesia, nice to know your channel.. i read about the nephrurus milli caresheet, im concern about the humid hide. with 60-80% humidity inside room, do we still need a humid hide for mili ?
@reptiliandiaries
@reptiliandiaries 3 года назад
You want an area where the substrate is slightly damp. You don't want the entire substrate damp, just one, confined area....preferably under a hide. 60% isnt bad at all. 80 is a little high for the entire enclosure but milii are tough and adaptable. Hope this helps!

@@reptiliandiaries I see, what cause knob tail to vomit usually ? I have UHT set on thermostat. So the cool side around 28celcius, and the hot side around 32celcius. My room temp at day around 30c, night at 28c. As I know reptile vomit, the main reason is not enough heat to digest the food. But I don't really know about gecko. I have leopard in the same room, they just do fine without UHT. This knob tail just 1 weeks in my care.. My thought is they just stress so they vomit the day after eating.

Is there a way to fatten up the tails on these? Best time of day to feed? How much and how often?
@reptiliandiaries
@reptiliandiaries 4 года назад
Best way to fatten these guys up is to feed your feeder insects a high quality diet. A very basic but healthy diet for the feeders is high protein fish food flakes and carrots. Dog or cat food can work as well, along with a myriad of other vegetables, fruits, and grains. Babies and juveniles should be fed every day or every other day. adults can be fed two or three times per week. Generally i feed crickets or roaches. I'll usually feed three or four appropriately sized food items per feeding for adults. babies and juveniles get two. These geckos being nocturnal will be most comfortable eating at night, but will usually feed during the day as well. Hope this helps

Thank you for that, That is where I have been going wrong. What size tub would you recommend for males and females and yearlings ? I am currently keeping in 20 inch x 13 inch. But I also have v70’s available.

20x13 is plenty of room for an adult of any Nephrurus species. For babies i use a shoebox size enclosure. Something like 12"x8"
