So he said, but he ended up living a very happy (though short) life. He died happily with the one he loved the most. If that's not a decent life, then I don't know what is.
@@SleepyGoji kinda like Smashing Pumpkins in that way...how the melancholy is evident in the lyrics but not the sounds. but whereas Billy is just so jaded and cynical, Sawao seems to have a sort of stoic optimism. moreover while they speak of heavy things in a sort of nihilistic way, I think The Pillows are ultimately hopeful and aim to authentically brighten their fans' lives.
This album was my summer soundtrack of 2006. The Pillows encapsulate multiple forms of rock and other genres in such a way that to anyone searching for a song that defines their moment, they simply just need to sit down and listen and surely it exists somewhere in The Pillows catalog.
Swanky Street feels like life passing by. Like we're looking back on those moments we spent and missed of yesteryear. And yet, we're still making those memories now. The first lyrics are this: "It’s all right if we vanish in a flash. Leaving not even a memory to anyone. I’m beginning to understand the loneliness. We want to choose the way that is best." Life goes by fast, huh? We really have to cherish every second of it.
I think I discovered this album at the right time. Back in fall 2020 when I first watched FLCL and got into The Pillows' music, I was pretty depressed because of school and pretty much didn't want to do anything or talk to anyone. Come to the night when I decided to listen to this album and couldn't help but cry when I first heard Trip Dancer and Moon is Mine because they really did make me that emotional. After that I was captivated by this album- the songs, the sound, the album cover, and how basically all of it reflected how I felt at the time. Eventually I did get help and I've been on medication to help ever since. Even if I'm not into The Pillows as much I was back in fall 2020 to May 2021, whenever I occasionally listen to their music again, I'm reminded of much their music did for me. It pulled me through the school year and even inspired me to pick up guitar playing as a hobby. I don't know how to end this comment properly but I just wanted to talk about my experience with this album and The Pillows in general since they're both really special to me personally, lol
I listened to this album a few years ago when I got into the pillows, then when reading 3 days of happiness I was reminded of it. Clearly the mangaka and I have great taste!
2 comments really? These guys got me through so much. I don’t understand what they say or sing but the feeling is understood. The pillows are my favorite band ever for real
It's 2 am, i just read the page of 3 days of happiness where he talks about this album, i search it and i pleasantly discover it's made by the pillows, one if my favorite japanese band ever thanks to FLCL; this sleepless night couldn't get better than this honestly
Can I just ask what's the correlation between this and Three Days of Happiness? I know vaguely what TDOH is but I just want to know why it keeps coming up in the comments.
Hopefully this album might make it's way to the US. Maybe even if the pillows were to tour again in the US, maybe they might give us other PML songs to perform. We might see Three Days of Happiness fans in the concerts too.
@@lorenzosilvestro2005 Thanks. I didn't see your reply until now, but funnily enough, last night while just scrolling through Google looking for a good quality image of the album cover I needed for a redraw, I found which page of the manga people keep bringing up in the comments
just finished the manga and it's BEAUTIFUL at the end you finally understand the meaning of those three days happiness i hope both of them are happy together even after death
That's a tough call. This album was promptly followed by Little Busters and Happy Bivouac, so I think it's safe to say that the late 90s were just the best damn pillows music.
to fellow arrivers, I hope you're well. let's enjoy this masterpiece while respecting earlier people's sanctity of their treasure we've gotten to share. welcome o7
~Lucas
I don't know what Three Days of Happiness is, but it seems like a light novel? I'll check it out, but I'm just here, because I like The Pillows and I know some songs in here that are in Furi Kuri.
