The Ping Test is for Alloy Identification only.
It’s not for Mint Marks or Key Dates.
Two coins or bars made of the same metal, geometry, and manufacturing process can potentially sound exactly the same.
That’s how the ping test works!
The fake in the video is the closest sounding real Silver fake Morgan I’ve heard.
Not an exact match, but IMO definitely in the ballpark.
Keep that in mind when ping testing metals.
It’s really only good for alloy identification.
And always use multiple testing methods.
###
If you or someone you know would like to test metals with a Pocket Pinger, they’re available at CoinPingTest.com, Amazon, and eBay.
Disclaimer: All the risks associated with pinching a coin in between your fingers and tapping it are present when using the device. The ping test is used for alloy identification. Always compare the sound of a potential counterfeit with the sound of a known authentic or trusted data base. Any difference in sound is a strong indication that further testing is needed. Always use multiple testing methods.
The Pocket Pinger has contributed to catching over 100 fake coins, all confirmed.
If you catch one with yours please reach out. There’s a valuable lesson to share in each story.
