Me at the beginning of the video: Twenty five cents for a hot dog or a burger? Wow! Prices really were SO much better in the old days. Me at the end of the video: I should've known there'd be a catch.
‘The Pink Quarterback’ is a nice and funny short starring the Pink Panther. The title makes you think this is a football story, but not so. It’s the Pink Panther trying to get his quarter (25 cent-piece) back! Clever, eh? Maybe. Anyway, the cartoon is clever and hilarious, a wild trip through the streets of the big city. It all starts when the PP finds a quarter on the street. He’s going to celebrate by buying a hot dog for himself. However, on the other side of the street comes the aroma of a sizzling hamburger. That, too, only costs a quarter (is that all they cost in the late ‘60s?). Unable to decide, our hero flips a coin-that quarter-and it starts rolling everywhere with the Panther in hot pursuit. When I say “everywhere” I mean down lots of streets, subways, through apartment buildings and railway. Also, the people has to battle for this quarter as he tries to capture it are wacky and very funny. This is excellent entertainment and one of the better Pink Panther shorts
Back then, people would make molds of coins using one’s they already had and forge fakes, however, because they would usually not have the right metals in them, they could be easily bent, so to check, people would bite down on a coin to check it’s authenticity.
