I don't like to use the word "Hate" But I ""strongly disliked"" Ron Hextall when he was goal keeper for the Flyers and I ""strongly dislike"" him as the Pens GM .....The sooner he's down river on the Gateway Clipper the better !!!!!
Slowest team in hockey right now, and I'm including beer league teams. Sucks because Sid and Malkin are still putting up world class efforts but there's no supporting cast
I love Sid, Gino and Tanger....but this is hockey.....dynasty's don't last forever...a massive rebuild is due in the next 2-3 years....sorry Pens fans, but it's true.....
Guentzel gets cross-checked in the face. IN THE FACE! and drops to the ice. Not a single teammate bats an eye. Not a one came to his defense, except a ref who eventually felt sorry for him and called a high sticking penalty. That says it all right there.
As tough as it is, if this means we miss the playoffs one year and go onto the finals the next it's a trade I'm willing to make... that being said this is kinda torture. Hextall has royally screwed a good team and it makes me sad to see people like Sid, Geno, Tanger, and etc suffer for it especially when those three specifically are in the twighlight of an amazing career. I'd love to say there's plenty of hockey left, but my confidence that they can pick it back up has started slipping. I'm still hopeful, but I won't be surprised to see them miss the playoffs.
Anyone that didn't see this at least two years ago wasn't watching. It is past time to go into rebuild mode and work on the replacements for the big three while there is time for them to learn.
Hextall owns all the blame there's no one else. People calling for Sully's job are idiots he can only do so much with what he's given. And it's brutal cause Sid and Geno's line have been really good this year and both are fully healthy I didn't know we where after Schenn but I like that move. I've been saying we should go after him he's a cheap option but to think that's it is laughable. The team would be better off selling the pending UFA's missing the playoffs and going for it next year cause lots of cap space is opening up. I'm not convinced Hextall is the right guy to lead us through going forward (and I was never really sold on him in the beginning) Jarry I love the guy but he's made of glass. I understand if you wanna role with him but you'll need to get a guy who can just slot right in when he inevitably goes down again. The entire bottom 6 needs retooling. Like there's nothing else to be said there every bottom 6 guy is trash. Perry's contract is awful and it's for 3 more years. Petterson is solid but for how he produces he's definitely overpaid. Like the amount of problems this team has is incredible and it certainly won't be fixed in one deadline.
Well, at least you're not a Flyers fan like I am. When you're hoping for the owner of your local pro basketball team to buy your local pro hockey team, you're in a bad place as a fan.
You could put the worst 6 players from the wheeling nailers as our bottom six and they would produce more than what we have now. It honestly seems impossible that these players could go dozens of games in a row without even an accidental secondary assist… it’s absolutely nuts 🥜
The big problem is Kap, Carter, McGinn all have term on their deals. I never understood why they extended Carter and Kap. I could forgive the McGinn deal but he was never gunna be Tanev. Tanev played with heart. And now Zucker is trying to fill that role but that’s just not his job I’m afraid it might be done. Gunna suck but hey I witnessed them win 3 cups in my lifetime and probably won’t see another.
Carter playing in the middle seems like a mistake, too much skating for him at this age. He was skating on 3rd line right wing with the kings his last year here. Disappointed to see it's not working out well for him or the pens.
Sullivan should have been gone last year. I'll never forgive what he did to Domingue. He had a 0.95 save percentage and 2.02 GAA over those 6 games, and he put no glove Jarry in for game 7, who promptly let one over his glove 3 minutes it. Most disrespectful and foolish thing I've seen an NHL coach do.
Believe!! They will make the playoffs. I'm not a Hextal guy at all. He hurt the Flyers when he was there now moving to the Pens and doing the same. Ownership needs to make Sully GM and coach. I don't always love Sullivan's decisions on who should play, but if he was the GM he could get the players into the system that he wants. The Pens definitely require some toughness but where would they play? Would Sullivan play them? It's sad when Gino is our enforcer..
Whoa, Alyssa. Casey DeSmith hasn't been inconsistent. He's been rock solidly terrible. No surprise that Hextall has fucked us over. He's the Flyers. Tanev and ZAR are really missed. We need beef. Teddy Blueger might not be super productive, but he's rock solid and not doing a Tanger "ignore the D side and turn it over a lot" thing. If Hextall loses Sully his job we'll riot I think.
I don't blame the coach, he only has what the g m gives him to work with. Hextall has made some bad deals by moving younger guys out and bringing in older, slower players. Goaltending was questionable in the playoffs last year and he did nothing to improve it. Hopefully the ownership group is watching. No doubt a rebuild is in order.
as a flyers fan, i could not be happier to see the penguins fall from grace. there are just some penguins fans out there who are complete bandwagoners and get upset the very moment they are bad. In my opinion, Penguins fans don't know what losing and suffering is like, as they havent missed the playoffs since 2007. It makes me laugh to think that Ron Hextall who ruined the flyers also did it again to non other than the penguins, it's just funny to me.
I am literally considering leaving them because I’m way to embarrassed to be affiliated with them, and as soon as we end up missing the playoffs this year, I am done with this team
I agree with alot, but Jeff Carter is not terrible or the issue. There's more to his presence than the numbers he puts up. Young guys like Kapanen not performing is the issue
I put some of this on Sullivan as well. There is an unwillingness to give young guys a chance. Sully hasn't had faith in any AHL call ups since it was his guys that came up to help on the 16-17 Cup teams. The Pens have never had a ton of cap room to work with, but they always seem more inclined to bring in older veterans at a discount rather than take a shot on some younger unproven talent. Cullen was great in the two Cup runs, but they ended up bringing him back for another run when he was well past his prime. You can add Marleau and now Carter to that list as well. The Pens mentality needs to change, and Sully needs to be told to let some of the younger guys have a legitimate chance. Carter has sucked out loud for months now, but still plays every night where O'Connor has one bad shift and he rides the pine the rest of the game. The Pens NEED youth and energy and also need a few guys on the roster who, if they suck, they only cost you an $800K cap hit instead of being a $3 million albatross to deal with.
All in all, Pens fans should still be happy, even if they theoretically had 1 or 2 more runs left in them with better management. The odds to win a Stanley Cup are about 1 in 30 for any given year, and they've won 5 Stanley Cups in 32 years, which is honestly an astronomical rate here. If the Penguins didn't win for another 30 or even 60 years, they would still be ahead of many franchises. I would be grateful you got to see them win multiple Stanley Cups in your lifetime. That is honestly not a given in this league. Pretty much half the league hasn't won in the last 30 years. The Pens were already fortunate enough to reload with Malkin and Crosby after Jagr/Lemieux the way it went down. Without a lockout, that would not have happened - very fortuitous indeed. Being grateful is important.
Hi Alyssa love this videos my selection team is the penguins I just read Kapanen is on the trade block I’ll be moving to the Pittsburgh area sometime next year
As a Pens fan while Hextall hasn't made great trades besides the Rakell trade. This is beyond Hextall I think if you look after the 2018 playoffs it's been 1st round exit after another and just playing down to competition like in the bubble against Montreal. Rutherford has also made some terrible decisions like gudbranson, overpaying for Zucker which literally cost us one of our top prospects in Addison and don't forget trading for Brassard. But I still think we should of just kept Sid and trades Geno and Letang to build up prospects now since our prospects pool is so shallow. Hate to say it but the rebuild is here and now it'll mostly likely be like the Redwings and Blackhawks where it's years of rebuilding
