Roibos acts as weak damage scaling, but most importantly he's weak damage scaling that you can remove from your deck for free in the lategame. Since he's a companion you can just drop him to your reserve with ease. Would I take him over a potentially powerful unit like foxy? No. Would I take him over a bunch of other units that I don't feel strongly about? Yes.
About the charms on the first machine; Technically, they Can be good. I've pulled things like snowball charm and bomb charm out of them. They're just more likely to be bad because Most charms in the game are kind of bad, and the first machine has the entire pool of charms to pull from. The further you go into the game, the fewer charms you can random roll and the more likely you are to pull something useful because the options have gotten smaller. You can get terrible charms from any machine. In fact, having watched a good number of your videos, you generally take fewer charms from the charm merchant than you do from random pulls at shops because of how bad the charm merchant's charms normally are. You just don't associate the charm merchant with bad charms because, normally, what makes them 'bad' is that by the time you see them they don't fit your current build and aren't better than money for another crown.
Love how nova is just extremely strong that she just show up out of nowhere, kick foxee (which arguably one of the strongest unit in the game) out of the run and then proceed to wreck shit. I gotta wonder, how much rank will nova drop if she doesnt have a turn timer...
it removes her balance charm and blaze tea high roll, but thats about it i think, on runs without those 2, she would get 1 less hit on almost all combats, would mean she will need support tho, since she only has that 1 hit without blunky, dice, or charms
Like I HAVE gotten moko charm from the first charm machine, but it does seem like 99% of the time it’s either a hook charm or pengu charm or some other charm that is not impactful
8:10 btw whats so bad about chompom? The only change i saw they made to him is 1 less shell, I thought they increased his turn timer or something. 3 turn timer means he still works ok in a spice build. There is recency bias of him being on losing runs tho so yeah.
The complaint was about blind picking him with no other shell cards. Most shell cards are pretty good so it’s not crazy to get one beforehand. You won’t take vesta without overburn, or fungoblaster without poison. Edit: or recycle without junk generation
yeah basically you just cant pick him from your first/second companion pick anymore, but typically i try to avoid having to pick many companions beyond that point, so he's hard to pick up anymore. they also nerfed kernel which hurt him a bit
