Scary times, a thousand dollar phone regarded as 'old' in less than a year.

I don't think it's regarded as old. It's just not going to be the "newest" Pixel in about 2 weeks.

Good vídeo. Watching this on my 2 week old Pixel 9 PRO XL ...and can appreciate the upgrade. The reviews are great..for example the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is just incredible besides so many other things... Really enjoying this Pixel....btw temp sensor app got updated and actually quite useful!

@sullystechhub 2 дня назад
@@rico4you I'm happy you're enjoying it. I never had an issue with the speed of the Pixel 8's fingerprint scanner, but it is very unreliable with dirty or wet hands. I believe ultrasonic is more reliable when strange conditions are less than optimal.
@rico4you

@@sullystechhub ultrasonic is basically constantly reliable whether dry, wet hand...and real fast. Optical how you position any or wet can fail on 8 PRO.

Yeah the blue is cool. I still think the best pixel color of all time was the 7 Pro's hazel color (light olive glass + gold accents)

In comparison to both Samsung and iPhone, the device offers comparable performance at a more affordable price point, starting at $200 less. Considering these factors, I am enthusiastic about exploring a new option and transitioning from Galaxy to Pixel.

I have bounced back and forth between Samsung and Google flagships since 2012. At this point, I think I can solidly say I prefer Google phones. Samsung: More features, more powerful, more versatile Google: More helpful, better results straight out of camera, more ergonomic in the hand. Since the camera matters to me more than just about anything else, I prefer the Pixel. But I believe I will be jumping on the Xiaomi bandwagon when the 15 Ultra releases. I really like the Leica color processing and the industry-best hardware for the cameras.
@Catalanskrr
@Catalanskrr Месяц назад
@@sullystechhubno Xiaomi will ever reach the camera results of pixel phones bro.
@sullystechhub
@sullystechhub Месяц назад
@@Catalanskrr I agree, in the sense that Google will never be able to reach the results of Xiaomi. I don't really care much about straight-out-of-camera processing. I shoot many of my smartphone photos in RAW format and edit afterwards. For that, file format and hardware matters way more. Xiaomi has a superior file format and also has bigger sensors. Also, I am not a fan of very smartphone-y looking photos. Google, Samsung, and Apple all have very smartphone-looking color processing. I'm not a fan. You can get a decent result if you edit, but the straight out of camera colors are definitely a bit smartphone-y.
@Catalanskrr
@Catalanskrr Месяц назад
@@sullystechhub but that’s a extremely niche usecase. I would go as far and say 99% of all people who use phones don’t shoot raw and don’t do big edits afterwards. So it doesn’t even matter to the normal dude that the hardware itself or the data format is better. What matters to nearly every single person is the result right from the phone itself without any tweaking. And that’s where the pixel just wipes the floor with any Xiaomi phone.
@sullystechhub
@sullystechhub Месяц назад
@@Catalanskrr Yes, 99% of people are not "pro" users. I made a whole video about this point. The Pixel "Pro" phones are not pro. They don't have pro features. They have "make it easier to use" features, which don't actually raise the upper ceiling of possible performance. And yeah, if you like really cartoony colors and unrealistic HDR, straight out of camera photos are probably fine. That's my point though. What I just described, again, is not "pro." That's very "generic, average consumer." Xiaomi, Vivo, Sony, and in some ways Samsung, all have actual pro features for people who want to be able to achieve a nearly DSLR-like result.

Really great Review! Only thing that i still have Questions about is the storage, do you think that 256gb is enough for day to day use, for pictures and Videos?
@sullystechhub
@sullystechhub Месяц назад
@@k4kes I think it depends on how you plan to use the phone. I use the 50mp + RAW photo mode on my phone a lot and I have used 244gb so far. I have the 512gb model. Obviously I use a lot more storage than the average user, but you should know your usage pretty well. Also, how long you plan to keep the phone makes a difference. If you upgrade every year, it's less important. If you go 2 or 3 years between upgrades, you probably want to go to higher storage option.

Phones are now becoming attention black holes that'll relieve you of hundreds of pounds if the screen cracks and are destined to become obsolete within 5 years due to software update limits. All because we keep blindly slinging our hard earned money at these phone manufacturers so we can have our fix of consumerism, wealth signalling and our pathetic inability to cope without a screen to entertain us every 5 minutes.
@sullystechhub
@sullystechhub Месяц назад
That's one way to look at it. I would say that they aren't designed for obsolescence. 7 years of updates is quite a long time. Also, a lot of people don't spend a lot of time on their phones. Turning off notifactions for social media, uninstalling social media, etc. helps to mitigate screen time. Also, I think for a lot of people, the smartphone is most importantly their primary and most available camera. For me, that's how I see it. I'm all about the camera.
@vg9073
@vg9073 Месяц назад
@@sullystechhub If you spend 1000 dollars on something, it shouldn't have a pre- planned obselence at all. Let alone just several years. They even now tell you it's going to happen and we still keep buying their phones because we're addicted to them. They could just keep updating your phone... But then they won't sell as many phones. I have a camera. They are great and do a much better job. You should try one - you'll be surprised at how much we don't need our phones to be this 'do all' device. You have no idea how much time, mental energy and happiness your phone drains from you until you don't have one for a month. Try it and I'd wager a large sum that you'll be happier, more relaxed, more creative, sleep better and think clearer for that month.
