‘Drive’ is better but Pines has a better message/Script. He easily is handed at least 3-4 big blockbuster Hollywood screenplays a year and turns them down, he’s a method actor. Do it for the passion and love of it, not just the money. 50% of the time one accepts the role to indie (independent) films, they also accept at LEAST 50% less of what they could’ve made doing a bigger budget blockbuster. At the same time, they ascertain a name for themselves. Perfect Example ~ Ryan Gosling was asked to play in: Star Wars, Ghostbusters(remake), The Magnificent Seven, 12 Years a Slave (Best Picture), and Argo(Best Picture). Instead of Argo(Best Picture announced by Michelle Obama), he made ‘Drive’, and instead of ‘12 Years a Slave’(Best Picture, he was gonna play Fassbender’s role) instead, he made ‘The Place Beyond the Pines’ which got snubbed big time as did Drive. NOT only would he have been in 2 Oscar/Academy Award ‘Best Picture’ feature films, made 10 million dollars more then he did, he also probably would’ve been nominated for those roles, and perhaps won an Oscar. But no, he did him. He solidified himself as the modern day James Dean and the best actor in their prime (today) with those films - and left a legacy of cult films with those like: Blue Valentine, Half Nelson, & more. He finally took a big blockbuster film that pays what he deserves but isn’t an indie with Blade Runner 2049....amazing movie, with phenomenal cinematography done by the best: Roger Deakins. 2049 my favourite of the year prior to ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’.

They filmed during an active fair!! It's nuts. They timed how long it would take Ryan to walk from the trailer to their filming tent, and had him walk through a real fair without warning the crowd

@@Justenphelpsyou can definitely tell by the way people look at him and the camera. you can see them realizing it if you pay attention to them, i just know some of them leaned over to someone and whisper "oh my god... is that Ryan fucking Gosling?"

rl1800 he should have naturally walked over and leaned against it, and looked at Gosling for a second as if he's just randomly looking at him, as people do. That's what I thought was going on at first but now that I'm looking at him it's obvious lmao.

Alex Massaad in this scene the time period was the 90s, shirts were loose fitting back then. He just simply put the shirt on over it, and as he was doing that dropped the jacket out of his mouth so that it would fall out the bottem of the shirt. Then he puts it on... as of now I think we're reading wayyy to deeply into this situation lol. The real questions we should be asking is, if you have a body like that why are you even putting on a shirt and a jacket? If it were me I would never lol but sadly I am not ryan gossling

What does being shaky have to do with a tracking shot. Steady-cam use is considered for tracking shots. This is a tracking shot and it is shaky because it uses steady-cam.

I just watched a 90min masterclass with the movie's DP Sean Bobbitt and he talked about this scene. It was all handheld on the shoulder.

I don't know much about the film industry but, even, I cud tell they used a handheld camera to film some of the scenes. It was more obvious during the last bank robbery scene as Bradley Cooper chased Ryan Gosling up to/into that house.
