Still wakes the deep made me cry so bad 😭 The fact that Caz knew everyone's names and seemed to have a genuine relationship with the crew made each death and interactions with infected crew mates more and more upsetting.
The way he could recognize some of his coworker's voices over the phone--or the remnants of their identity despite being flesh amalgamations--also speaks volumes on how personable and close he was to his peers.
The fact that the lighter, something so inconsequential in the beginning of the game(you even give it away since "you won't need it"), ended up being the one thing to end it all. If that isn't some sort of Chekhov's gun, then I don't know what it is.
i find it even more poetic that finlay called caz “a fuckin lifesaver” for providing her a lighter when he literally uses it to save everyone on the mainland
Caz has suffered more than any character I know of. Not only that, he fought for so long only to witness all of his friends die, and having to kill himself in order to save humanity
*Spoiler* I think Ethan from RE7&8 beats this MC in terms of suffering, but both ended up sacrificing themselves similarly for the sake of their families so they are on par with that.
@@thericethatsmilesback5464Oh no he doesn’t. Ethan never saw or had to kill any friends and family he only killed infected people and test subjects. Yes he did have to kill Mr and Mrs Baker, but he didn’t know them well enough to see them as friends only as acquaintances. He did see some bodies, but they belonged to people he never met before while for Caz he saw the bodies of his coworkers and friends and had to kill a few coworkers just to survive which he regrets (minus Rennick’s and Addair’s deaths) he saw (and heard) his friends getting infected or killed which we do see him distressed and cry when he encounters this we only see Ethan cry when he passes Rose to Redfield he never had to kill any friends only Caz did
this game has the most realistic conversations and characters in my opinion like theres no unrealistically heroic characters theres just people who want to survive and thats how pretty much anyone in situations like this would be
Oooooof hopefully people actually play the game for themselves before watching this. It's an awesome game with amazing voice acting and pretty creepy atmosphere.
@@roytruitt9884bruh, tell me about it... That beginning with his wife talking...has got to be some of the most emotional voice acting I've heard in ages... I dunno who the VA was, but she definitely deserves more roles.
every play through of this game ive cried bc of how fleshed out the characters are, they feel like real genuine people and not NPCs. it's so sad to hear each of them dying, whether on the phone, finding them dead, or witnessing it firsthand. it's such a tragic yet beautiful game, especially for a horror game which I love 🫶
All fun and games until you realise the Main character of "The thing on a scottish oil rig" is a character who has suffered more than most in games, Debatable suffered more in one night then Ellie did in years, watched his friends turn into flesh monsters and burn and die, every spark of hope he had to get home burning out with every task he did, Eventually he didn't even get to see his family and fix things with them, He died off shore without any human ever knowing what he did for them.
Caz managed to lead 3 of the creatures to their deaths and sacrificed himself to save people he loved by blowing up the eldritch horror they unleashed. What a great game.
The saddest part about the game is all the people who have helped you on the wreck all the people that you've grown strong bonds with die you don't survive the workers don't survive and the monsters don't survive nobody on the oil ready to survive everybody dies there's no happy ending...
I feel like the game is gonna continue, a new POV like what Trots said there are more oil rigs up in the north sea, and they might experience the same as the Beira, like our Rig.
The fact that in the end it didn't matter what you had done up to this point to try and save everyone really hurt in the end. They were all doomed from the off. 😢
"Ahhh Mcleary, sorry to get you out of bed! Shut the door and have a seat." "I'm fine standi-" "Sit your ass down you fuckin liability" lowkey my fav line in the game😂
I just wish it wasn't so cliched. There's someone guiding you, but they can't physically help you because "you don't know the controls" so they just tell you to endlessly go here and there to pick up this and that.
I still say he died when he fell from the rig (no one would survive that fall and how did they get him back up?) and that was all dying synapses and neurons as he drowned.
Oh. My. God. I am so glad the voice actors are Scottish. I am so sick of either English or British being the only type of voice actor. This was amazing.
The oil was splattered on his face and was near the explosion, which caused him to be one of the monster. He tried to control his consciousness but the flesh ends up taking his entire body
The phone calls really hit, like the guy who called saying hes at the lifeboats but they dont work so he couldnt do anything the then the phones shut off ...imagine that, you dont know where to go, what to do, you have limited communications and they tell you to get to the evacuation point and by the time you do, the plan has already changed but you dont know that, now your stuck, scared and facing the inevitability certain death or worse 🥲🥲🥲
