Dirty Dragons sent me & I'm glad I came. LOVE this fishing rod, my Dad's a fisherman and it'd be cool to have one of these in the glove box. Thanks for sharing Cheers & atb
Thank you so much for sharing this. I lost my breath when I saw the thumbnail! My grandfather had one if these and it was the first pole I ever cast! I had completely forgotten about it. What a rush of good old memories! All the best kabar!
I had one of these when I was a kid. I took it everywhere with me and caught plenty of fish with it. There also good for ice fishing where a longer pole just gets in the way. Thanks for the review and the trip down memory lane. ATB, Steve...
I had one as a kid back in the late 70's. Absolutely loved it. Never caught a giant fish but decent size bass, bluegills and crappie. I remember the line being awful and tough to respool. But it was still cool.
I used to have one of those, they were great for stream fishing.I found the poles are not great for casting, but they worked great for fishing off or wharfs, for flounders and such as well, and mackeral. That is awesome dude, thanks for showing this, your taking me back to my teen years lol. Thanks bro, my reel stripped out as well lol. Zebco, seemed to never last long anyhow. You buy them they cast great for 10 times and never again haha
loved it i had one when i was a kid that wasn't a 202 a 202 would have been light years better then that thing 202 here solid reels when they made in the usa that pocket fisherman was a cool novelty fishing product but not practical a bamboo rod would be better for survival then that great video tom
Oh yea....I have the same unit. They were an abomination at that time..but now everyone wants to buy the thing from Me ! Man, ya just never know. Good post.!
I remember those and other adds from Popeil and Ronko. Didn't know they used the 202. The 202s I have hold up well enough with care. Clean and lube them at the end of the season. Sometimes I wouldn't do that unless there was sand.
Question, I need to get a new line on mine, do I run the line through the "L" shaped part of the spring, or just straight out from the spool? It hasn't been used for 20+ years and still turns smoothly.
hoosierarcher ok suppose you could iv never caught anything big on it sunnys trout perch but after awhile all of them started screwing up the one on here the pole pulls out of the lock and the handle cracked take care brother
I just got one of these off ebay. How do you open it up to retrieve the line or install new line? One version of this has buttons on the side that pop out the real, but not this version.
Take screws out if the side the handle slab comes off and feed it through put new line on it first better off that way they are cool but tough to cast any distance take care brother
@@tomritter493 Thanks, It worked. I just didn't pull hard enough the first time the screws were removed. I got two of these as an afterthought for out kids for an upcoming hiking trip this summer.
Did you try pulling the line tight while reeling ? If so less button! Turn handle it should make a popping noise ! If not then . The pick up pin might not be engaging! So if no luck . Take the reel out see if it's smooth with a pin or? Star shaped . Look behind the star see if there's line built up behind it on the shaft ! Hope this helped
I got around to it and pulled while reeling it in like you said and it worked for a few minutes but stopped. The line still isn't reeling in and whenever you pull on the line it just comes out. The reel itself started to turn real tough so I might have to spray that with some WD40. A video would definitely help and help those who also have one.
undertakerthedeadman ok ill see if I can dig it out and do it today the drag star too sometimes the drag comes loose and the line will just pull out !I have a tag videos to do then ill get to it ! Take care brother
David Persuitte David this is what I can tell ya iv done it too find a old reel qlook at it if it looks the same just put it in ! Or tell me what's wrong and maybe ill know thank you take care brother
I found one of those pocket fishers in my dads shed, it sucks! The fist time I went fishing with it, it broke. Well that is what you get for fishing with 1970s technology.
