The POF Phoenix - A PCC You Have Probably Never Heard of 

man... between the price and the proprietary mags, it went from a "man thats cool, wonder what they actually go for" to "oh... nevermind"

They should have used the scorpion mags. There very affordable, easy to load, Magpul makes a 35 rounder, and I’ve never had a problem with them

Expensive. Proprietary magazines. Not sure why it didn't take off....... POF having a hit or miss reputation is the nail in the coffin.

That's cool but they're out of their minds with that price. The difference between an SMG and a PCC is freedom.

Since POF is known for their piston driven rifles, I was hoping this would be piston driven like the MPX. Since this is direct blowback, I guess I’ll stick with saving for a MPX.

POF for whatever reason really likes to price themselves out of a lot of opportunities, when they get something neat, that has a niche application it usually sells well. The rest of the time, the company seems to stay in business but I never actually see anything they produce in the wild.

Positives: - It's shaped kind of like an AR-15 - POF sent Micah a gun Cons: - Stupid expensive - Uses proprietary mags - Can't load by hand - Made proprietary 9mm mags in 2023, who does that? What other weird decision did they make that we don't know about? Hmm, really makes you think - "...reasonably reliable" - Weird charging handle - Rail usage inhibited by weird charging handle - Puts you at risk of being flexed on by Kel Tec Sub-2000 owners

I love POF rifles and think dollar for dollar they are some of the best out there, but to me personally the Phoenix was a swing and a miss.

I LOVED the MP5 Navy model I carried for years. A couple of years ago I built a 9mm AR and although it’s fun, it can’t compare to those memories. If this is anything like that, I applaud you. We got featured in a 1998 issue of guns and weapons for law-enforcement at a high speed range in Mississippi. Consistent 185 yard hits on metal can’t lie.

I love POF and my second AR is the Wonder. They are sweet.

If you live in a tiny urbanized state with limited opportunities to use full house rifle rounds, a PCC is about the most fun you can realistically have until Hughes is repealed. So definitely count me in the "I love PCCs" camp.

I haven't heard a lot about their PCC's but POF makes some great rifles. Between the Revolution, P414 Edge, and the Renegade Plus there are some great options for some high quality rifles that have been on the market for a few years However, they seem to like to do some "interesting" things to do such as this pcc and a lever-action magfed rifle

You need to get together with Honest Outlaw and collectively have a discussion with POF on why their PCCs are sucking so hard. Between this and the tombstone, I'm half wondering if they're using AI to generate these designs...

Finally a review on this gun! I’ve been looking at this for awhile.

POF makes great weapons. I have no experience with the Phoenix, but I will say their Renegade Plus in 300 BO is pretty amazing. I was looking at either the Renegade or the Sugar Weasel, and though I like me some Q products, it was pretty much a no brainer. The Renegade has full ambi controls, 9 position adjustable gas block, dual extraction system, and a sweet BCG. Yes it was about 400 bucks more than the Weasel, but to me it was worth it. The gun runs everything from 220gr to 110gr Vmax, suppressed and unsuppressed. Very high quality. I wish people would give more love to smaller American companies, such as POF and ADM, as they make stupid good guns for the price. I know everyone likes LWRC, Daniel Defense, and Bravo Company. I love me some Bravo Company weapons, as they are made near where I live, and have a couple family members that work there, but I would most definitely take the Renegade Plus over a BCM .300 Blackout any day of the week. To each their own I guess

I think this is a really interesting firearm, but for $2,000 I’d be getting a CMMG Dissent 9mm. Reliable, radial delayed blowback, folding brace/stock, takes Glock mags which I have lots of.

I have a direct blowback PCC that takes Glock magazines and I have a HK SP5. My PCC is somewhere in my closet and I haven't seen it in years.

Those mags are a deal breaker by themselves, not to mention the other inconveniences & price.

Dracula Flow is my new favorite genre can't wait to see him live under the great pyramids.

I have a renegade plus from POF and it is really sweet. But this because of the mags and price I will stick with my custom built PCC

A blowback PCC that's over 1k is crazy. PSA makes gas operated rifles in rifle calibers for $500, but they have quantity of scale on their side. Which is why I'm lenient on blowback PCC's up to 1k. After 1k I expect something to be doing something in the operating system

Expensive firearm using proprietary magazines. Looks like POF tried taking a page from B&T's book... and note that B&T has finally climbed on the Glock mag bandwagon. Regretfully, do not want, will stick with my current AR with a Matador Arms magwell adapter and Glock mags. Regardless, very thorough review!

I ran an MP5 with the Navy trigger group. I absolutely loved that weapon. We typically trained to shoot two-round presses on full auto. In comparison to modern PCC’s, I will admit that the MP5 trigger is clunky and heavy.

Came for the review, stayed for the Dracula Flow remix.

The AK-V and AR-V are great PCC options, FWIW.

I've loaded my mag dozens of times. U gotta use the loader.. it's not hard. All my mags load easily. I have around 800 rounds thru mine and it's been flawless.

Maybe they a vid will convince POF to change some designs on that pcc and people will buy it.

Loading the mags a certain way is the biggest reason I don’t even bother shooting 22s most of the time. How the hell do you mess up the charging handle like that?

Charging handle is there for not digging into things if your pressed against something for cover, a wall the ground what ever.

I love POF. I was at the factory a couple weeks ago and dropped Garand thumb. Glad you guys are in touch with each other. POF is awesome!

I've always wanted a good pcc.i got s original 995.hi point...its better than the new in terms of ergos..and its a tac driver but mags and takedown is not ideal...and modularity is not good without wood screws and duct tape..I put a rail for a light on mine

My favorite is still the stribog sp9a3s with the upgraded lower. You get scorpion mags, ar triggers and a roller delayed blow back for significantly less recoil and way better to suppress

Dracula Flow FTW. I'd rather assembly my own using CMMG's Radial Delayed Blowback system and a Glock mag PCC lower with AR-15 parts.

If I'm going direct blowback, I'm choosing the noveske space invader. Very expensive, but has every mod you coild ever want and the bomb proof Noveske quality. Just my opinion.

I'm enjoying my excellent performing Extar ep9. Not sexy and unobtainable. But super reliable and affordable. Takes standard AR triggergroups, and glockmags. Wish i had a can for it, but i have no desire to pay a tax, for a right!

the issue is we still don't have decent 'budget' PCCs, while still being solid quality. the stribog is the closest, but its now going for 800ish, and most small/med gun stores either don't know about it or don't carry. MPX was 700-800 at one time and now they're 1500, Grasshopper Mouse, Mp5 clones, etc they're all 1300-2500 all day...Meanwhile you can get AR15s for 500-700 all day and while not the greatest, many are decent. Really, we need a 'universal' lower receiver that is for PCCs, and pushes all the companies to follow it, making the same format lower/uppers that fit on it

$2k is absurd for a blowback operated 9mm AR. CMMG's Banshee with delayed blowback operation can be had for $1500 and for that price you get some innovation (and save hammer pins). Better yet, I've built 3 uppers with their barrel/BCG/conversion mags that run great on any AR lower I want, even transferrable select fire units. You can build out the upper any way you want.

The charging handle Would be fairly easy to make your own 90 degree one. The only thing that’s not a super easy fix would be the mags but I’d have to have my hands on to see if it can be milled to fix that etc. by nice if they included that trigger for the $. But still a nice one to have

My experience with POF lasted the length of one phone call. Waaaay back when they were just starting, I called them (as I lived where they were producing their rifles), and the guy on the phone was a masssssive douche bag. I then went on to buy several LWRC products instead and (like most gun guys), $10's of thousands of dollars on other firearms in the following years. While they may make fine rifles, if the person who picks up the phone is a jackass and can't communicate with customers...you've lost business. This was perhaps...15 years ago? Hope they've hired some functional customer service reps since then.

I have two POF's an AR 10 and an AR 15 both piston operated. The AR 10 in 6.5 Creedmore consistently holds about .85 MOA at 1,000 yards! Therefore, I got the AR 15 version for 3 gun competition and it's shooting sub-moa to 800yds! They are pricey, but well worth the money!

Nah. Glad you brought up the mag first. Before you were even done talking about it it was an easy no for me. After sitting on the lever gun they came out with for forever before it sold, this is probably not going to be hanging on our shelf. Who knows, it’s not my call but I do have dirt in the say so. If it were me, I wouldn’t take the chance of sitting on another POF that doesn’t sell.

You should look at matador arms you can put it on any ar15/ar9mm lower and you can put basically any 9mm mag in it and any ar trigger depending on what lower you put on it

MAT-9 or bust, same thing but dont gotta worry about loading and charging handle isnt in the way

That's a great point about the MP5 trigger- it's (I believe) one of the points people have against the P-90 civvy version is that the trigger still sucks even though it's not an SMG. I would argue the same against the scorpion, even though I have one and love it- you have to lighten the springs, because it's an awful trigger otherwise. If it were an SMG, that would be perfect. But it's not, and they should have made it better for a semi auto platform.

It’s so wild they didn’t go with scorpion mags, MPX mags or even MP5 mags. All run. Obvious the scorpion mag options allows for cheaper mags from places like PSA. I don’t know why they wanted to recreate the wheel with this one.
