Former chauffeur here: I drove Anita Pointer in the mid-1990s from the airport to an Indian casino. 🤩The woman is tall or maybe it was the boots she was wearing. She was talking about how she liked the luggage she had and wanted to get another one. I drove her in a Lincoln Towncar so talking to her was easy - it's so quiet. As a professional driver, you can feel a vibe, some people don't want to chat, but not her. I told her how my super-nerd brother sang this song out loud when it came on the radio. I saw her laugh when I looked at her in the rear-view mirror. RIP. 🙏
My parents use to take dance classes/lessons and they were ALWAYS dancing to the Pointers Sisters Music. They were a staple in my house. The Sisters were touring in their '90s. So I got my parents tickets and arranged for a limo to take them in and out of New York City to see The Pointer Sisters. Listening to their music now after all of these years gives me goosebumps. Such nice memories
Hay now have a wife of 38 years now I have a gentle touch a very slow hand I haven’t left in a heated rush but I’ll have to tell you she is a bear do you what it’s like to try to touch a bear there not gentle 😳
This was my mom's favorite song. It came out while she was battling cancer. She lost her battle in 1983, but what a great ear she had for music. RIP Mom.
bless you for that!! it's great how old songs and memories are /can be so deeply intertwined with our 💕s.... I am so sorry your mom isn't here for pretty much 40 years now... wow for how much things have changed since then.. I'm 50 myself, and despite the amenities of today, I'd rather go back and live in the period 1981-1990 🥰, truly was the greatest decade here...
Reply reality from Denise f i e l d s good morning and happy Saturday to you I just read your comment that came through under The pointer sisters song title slow hand. @@shanedangers from Denise f i e l d s well and happy Father Day I just read your comment and I thought it was awfully sweet of you to address the young lady who had lost her mother. I'm sure that your comment definitely touched your heart and that's what we need more people to be understanding and loving toward one another. Like you had said the way it used to be LOL smile 😀😀💅🌹 little let me know at that particular time that is time went on we were leaving some of the most precious years and time behind. Because it will never ever be like it was all we can do is continue to hold on to the beautiful memories that we had and that brings it all about back to music depending on what type of music you actually enjoy because there's so much beautiful music out there. But I'd like to thank you so very much for being a listener to the station and if she should ever have a comment please feel free to contact me and I'll be more than happy to get back in contact with you as well. And by the way other than The pointer sisters who do you enjoy listening to as far as artists and song titles. Because it is yours so very kind I would like to be able to play something with you would like to hear. Stay safe in peace and love 🌹💅😀🔥🩰😲🍒♥️👁️
I am 45 yrs old and grew up with my mom and aunts listening to the Pointer Sisters. I loved their music when I was little. I recently rediscovered their music. These songs take me back. Thanks RU-vid
Wow I’m 49 now (be 50 Aug 16,a lil over a month from now) and I remember this song growing up. My mom played it,the song brings back so many memories. They don’t make music like this anymore.
Amen. They say men need to stop d xualizing woman but it's woman who sexualize themselves. How they dress and act. I the music industry it's their managers and producers who let them believe they need to except in cases like Miley Cyrus, Madonna and others who do it because they think they are more than they are. @@diden3527
@@phatgirl2121 In the regular rock and roll hof since they could sing EVERY genre. They were the first African American group to break the country barrier, and perform at Grande Ol Opry too. They don't get the recognition they deserve.
Everybody should be required to listen to this classic on repeat because quickies don't leave either of the couples truly satisfied let alone fulfilled. RIP Anita Pointer.
Slowhand is the Best song performed by a Female Duo Or Group period, It has Great Lyrics, Engaged Rhythm, Highs and Lows Tempos and Anita's voice plus the Pointer Sisters chorus alternation gives a noticeable force to the song. Nobody can beat the sisters.
RIP Pointer Sisters. They deserve more recognition than they get. I enjoyed listening to and watching their performances during the 1980s. "He's So Shy" was when I discovered this fabulous trio.
@@latresemilton6729 It was after I wrote it that I remembered that there's a 4th sister who used to be a part of the group in their earlier days. This reminds me of how Aretha lost all of her siblings.
@@JoyHarrison Bonnie was the one who was with them in the earlier days. Ruth, Anita and June stayed together. June was the first one to pass, then Bonnie and now Anita. Ruth has the deeper singing voice.
RIP Anita Pointer. Gone at the age of 74, but never forgotten. Beautiful, talented and…I already said beautiful, but that’s ok. We are losing far too many of the greats. Sad, sad loss.
And Anita invited Earl Thomas Conley ( she was a big fan ) to appear with her making him the first country star to appear on Soul Train ! Even Tina Marie said that most people rarely recognize that many country artists are a soulful as black artists. Consider Barbara Mandrell, Eddie Rabbitt, Tanya Tucker and Charlie Rich !
Even she's talking about sexuality, her voice, the letter of the song and the soft elegant content of the video make a beautiful sense. How i wish the music have the same content and purpose on this times
Reply JJ Smith from Denise f i e l d s hello how's everything going I hope all is well and I just read your comment I see that you came in under The pointer sisters and they are really or have them a wonderful group over the years are they one of your favorite groups and who else do you enjoy listening to and you have the time while I would like to thank you so very much for being a listener to the station and in telling you feel like you would like to make a comment please feel free to do so and I'll be more than happy to get back with you okay I thank you so very much peace and love. 😎🎉🎉🎉💯🔥😃🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀❤️
That was "our song," her's and mine. She was the love of my life, and the song applied to both of us. She died 7 years ago. I still miss her. (It's now 11 years, and the song still brings tears to my eyes).
I'm thinking of you Anita Pointer and sending love to Ruth Pointer. The Pointer sisters were apart of the soundtrack of my youth. May God's grace and peace be with you.
This is perhaps one of the most under rated songs of all time. Her voice is incredible! There is more talent here than 10 of the present bands screaming about nothing! Jeff D. age 66
@@donnalemonius9150 Thank you, I am a 70,s 80,90,s kind of guy. 30 of the best years of my life! The garbage on the radio these days SUCK in plain English!
I,ve ALWAYS loved this...................ALL these years...........I,m 55 now..........I must of been only 13/14 when this "first" came out.........just as if it was "yesterday"...........hearing it for the first time...............
When this came out I was 17 years old, and I totally fell in love with Anita. I think I might've been the only white guy at my school who had a crush on her. I met a beautiful girl who looked a lot like Anita we've been married for 31 years now have 3 grown children. She still loves my slow hand.
I'm a white guy who has a crush on June. But I certainly find every one of them so very beautiful and talented in their own right. ☺️ It's hard to believe that Ruth is almost 80! My goodness how time just flies, just yesterday I was watching them sing Automatic on Soul Train, and June had these beautiful silky smooth legs that just went on for MILES!!! It's such a SHAME that she's no longer with us! ...just heartbreaking.💔😢 RIP Sweet Precious Bonnie and June!
Hi,you have a point.Today you ain't gonna find creativity in music like before. This guys spent time to go through what they sing about and creat awareness, but today they do it just for fame. What i mean is,they worked hard to earn fame but today, anything is fame.i think i have answered you question
Reply black heart bev from Denise f i e l d s hi happy Saturday to you you know I just finished reading a comment that was dated quite some time ago when we go to the point or sisters and the song slow hand I don't know if you ever received a return reply or not because of when this was dated and just trickled down to me but it's okay cuz I will reply anyway. Yes I do feel that you were so right on when you comment in regards to the female group I agree with you 100%. They won't afraid to get out there and do different types of songs some people feel that they were when should I say we're not giving their proper dues but I don't feel that way simply because anytime you receive a Grammy for writing a country song and you have to be women of color in the 80s and they also performed in the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville again women of color and then one year they received an award for best videos and of course unfortunately they had tragic they lost their baby sister June and they lost Bonnie I believe Bonnie with the oldest so these women were out there on their job and people recognize them for who they were. I remember when I was a kid and my mother called me to the television hurry quick and I saw these women dancing and singing in these big floppy hats dresses too big and didn't fit joy that didn't match you know it was fake in other words they love the worst of worst but whoever thought about marketing them that way and them getting out there doing their thing paid off big time I was watching an interview with one of the sisters and she had said that's not how they wanted it to be that's not how they wanted to start out looking she said the only reason why they went out that way was because they didn't have the money to look like they really wanted to look and so they just did what they had to do and fortunately enough it worked they got over people loved them and the rest is history they started out in Arkansas moved to Oakland California is where the beginning of their career all came together and unfortunately the baby June was the one that I identified with the most because she was the youngest and she was just so crazy to get out there and do anything and when I found out that she had passed of cancer at UCLA medical center in the state of California I was like wow it's hard for me to believe. However I would like to thank you so very much for being a listener to the station and anytime you feel like comedy please feel free to do so and I will definitely get back in contact with you okay so I'm going to try to enjoy my Saturday I've been enjoying it all day because I've been answering comments from other people and now I'm down to you so take care peace and love thank you 😀♥️😊👁️🍒😲🩰💦🎶👄😘💜💕🔥🔥🔥💅.
I saw them live at Blossom Music Center from the 3rd row at their commercial peak in 1985, just after I turned twenty years old. Went alone, friends bailed - had way more fun alone, best show EVER. And as you said they did ever genre to perfection.
Ladies Pointer Sisters, thank you for giving this man while a muchly younger man a good pointer or two giving me the socializing of well socialized type experience growing up into the fine human being today.
RIP Anita Pointer. Although I was mainly a Rock fan growing up in the 70's and 80's, I also loved music from the Pointer Sisters, Prince, MJ, etc. This is my favorite song from the Sisters. God bless them.
It's takes a selective group of ppl living in a special era of time to know this here ...glad I'm one of em...My Aunt Brenda use to play there record on her record player in her house with big speakers in the living in the 80s I was 10 & I'd listen I got where I ask her to play it when I'd go over there it's because of her I fell in love with there music
@@michellebilodeau3882 ofc! Their r still a lot of gentleman out there who do have those qualities! I think so although I’m not looking! I hope that every woman find that special someone!
So why are they chasing heartless and emotionally stunned, macho men? I would appreciate seeing your point of view. It seems to me that women are conflicted in their desires, per your comment and my observations
@@mariuszwiesiolek9340 oh gosh! I don’t know who u r but u know it’s not all women r like that but we all pay 4 what others do! It’s not fair to both men & women but in my heart their r a lot of good men & women out there, just like everything else, their is the good & the bad & I will never judge people, never, I was well taught & brought up & if I can’t say anything good that’s means to shut up. My parents would of whoop my ass, meaning a good beating.
This song came out before I was born, but it was a staple growing up. My mom didn’t have much, but she did have her Pointer Sisters cassette that she listens to even in 2024!!
These lovely sisters were flawless, amazing vocalists. Their harmonizing was on point and they presented themselves with a sexy elegance. I'm hard pressed to name a modern day equivalent. They were undoubtedly in a class of their own.
I remember when this song first came out. A song for women finally, saying what women wanted instead of what men wanted. So many years ago, 1981. The lyrics are quite poetic.
Many people will come and go from your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. Friendship is one of the most beautiful feelings to live because it gives wealth, emotions, complicity and because it is absolutely free. Suddenly you see each other, you choose, you build a sort of intimacy; you can walk side by side and grow together while travel on different roads, even if they are distant, like the two of us, hundreds of thousands of kilometers I took the liberty of writing my thoughts here where you could write is it possible to make friends? thank you for reading it, sometimes it doesn't take much to be friends please don't hesitate to reply me. THANK YOU and remain BLESSED.
Baby Ms. Anita lead this song like a champ, omg her voice is soo beautiful. I bet she could effortlessly sing a country song, and it go. I remember my mom and aunt's singing this song when I was growing up, it just take you back to a place in time where you just had to be there to get it.
Such a sensual song, a beautiful mix of pop, soul and country. I was 15 when Fire and Happiness where the first big hits for The Pinter Sister in the Netherlands. Loved them immediately for their great voices and wonderful popsound. I still listen sometimes to their album "Energy".
Que les années 80 étaient douces heureuses… ces 3 sœurs ont tout simplement la classe de ces femmes de cette époque…. Rien à ajouter si ce n’est THANK YOU LADIES
