One thing you forgot to mention: Pokemon Ga-Olé has been released in Mainland China and Taiwan late last year and it's coming to Korea this summer, so Ga-Olé is no longer Japan exclusive

i actually played ga-ole, i was in the phillipines and there was this arcade where they had all these imported games from japan, there was also like pokemon Tretta and i think i still have the stuff from it if i looked :)

I would spend all my life savings on that game if I had one of those arcades near me. So, in a way, I'm kind glad those are some games that I have never played. Also, I feel that "Feraligatr is in the game!". I thought the exact same thing when I was playing the new Update in New Pokémon Snap!

I had actually heard of Battrio, and therefore a little about Tretta when it was first revealed, but then I totally forgot about them and never learned of their sequels; it's interesting to see just how far it's come, thanks for bringing it back to my attention lol

Ages ago I got a small disc thing with Shinx of it and just learned from this vid it's from the first one of these. Pretty neat

I was able to play pokémon tretta at the Philippines I had a fun time playing it and I hope that I can go back there again to play it more it's one of the most funnest things I've ever played!

Now I know it isn't fair to compare an arcade game with a limited set of Pokémons and a very limited playstyle to a main series game, but ho boy the attack animations of Pokémons in this arcade sure look better than what we got in SWSH. Imagine blastoise actually shooting hydro pump from his cannons! (Also now even the main series can't say it has a full roster of Pokémons so yeah)

I have played this, I went to Japan for an Aunt’s birthday vacation and I played this in an arcade there (Ga Ole) Edit: I remember in the Philippines when I was a kid I used to play at the arcade in the mall my Aunt worked at and there was a Pokemon game. I have faint memories but I remember a couple things: 1. My brain keeps trying to jog it’s name back into my memory and I think it was called Pokemon tetra or something like that... 2. The collectables were like the ones in Ga Ole except a small square with a yellow outline, I kept all of my stuff from both games in a pouch that I left in the Philippines... 3. I remember catching a Golurk and fighting Giratina in it.

For anyone checking back, not only is Mezastar still going, it even has been updated with Gen 9 and as of July now has every battle gimmick, with the most recent set having a Mega Absol, Z move Togekiss and Salamence, Dynamax has a good variety with Zekrom, Reshiram, Blissey, Ludicolo and Mr. Rime. The Freshly introduced Terastals include Charizard, the Paldea starters, and Pikachu. And that's not even stepping into Arcade exclusive battle gimmicks too. In a way I'm kinda jealous.

If Mezastar were to get a English Version it'd probably be a mobile app with a writable NFC card included in pokemon TCG booster packs.

I've played Pokémon Tretta. It used to be in my local arcade and it was a lot of fun. I loved playing it every time i stopped by and I still have all of my Trettas with me. They took away the machines a few years ago , but it was a fun time while it lasted.

I totally want to make a gba rom hack using these characters now...lots of great character designs :)

What if...We have one Pokémon arcade in the US? It’s just as it sounds, a whole arcade full of the Pokémon arcade games and maybe even any other Nintendo games like Mario. But a single location means any fans would funnel into it, especially since it would be the only place to play most of those games. 🤷‍♀️🤔

I can’t believe I haven’t seen this sooner. I live in the Philippines and I have played Pokemon Tretta here. It was really fun to play and I think my local arcade probably still has it. I still have the chips/cards in a drawer somewhere. It blew my mind seeing it when I was younger, and I really enjoyed it. I had no idea it was part of an entire family of arcade games. I've only ever experienced this with the Dinosaur King arcade card game. I loved that game, haven't ever seen another version of it.

I'm from Malaysia and we have these games in our arcades! Though the games are still in Japanese I used to play Tretta and I still have the little cards, I fear if I start on Mezastar I'll get addicted 😅

Saying a Pokémon Arcade game like this is “too niche” in America is a bit of an overstatement I’d say, I mean, if I hear people talk enough about a Luigi’s Mansion arcade machine and reminisce how cool that is, I would say a Pokémon Arcade machine that has much replay-ability between cards and collecting would definitely be a successful product to place in arcades in America.

In my country (Singapore), pokemon tretta is still the current ongoing generation.

Oh I've played Pokemon Tretta before. Pretty sure that game was released in a lot of asian regions because it did have english voices on some machines. ... Actually, same with Ga Ole, now that I think of it. Ga Ole was released in some parts of the asia region by the tail end of 2020 so it might be possible that some english/chinese version of the game exists in said regions like Mainland China or Taiwan; possibly Singapore too.

I genuinely think this would work, but it would have to be build from the ground up to be compatible with a switch port. Have the disks use NFC stuff, and have them be comparable with the Joy-cons in the switch version. How do you get new cards? Either order them through booster packs (or a Pokémon TCG colab) or win them at some sort of Dave and Busters collab, or maybe even at the Pokémon Center store in New York. I think it could work, but it would require a LOT of effort.

Pokemon mezastar need to be brought to the USA because honestly if the import prices where decreased for arcade games from Japan only to the USA just for this game that would be respected by that would make 99% of US pokemon fans very happy including me because I also want to play those games heck I want to go to Japan just to play that one game

I don't wanna be that person, but we DO have a way to emulate how these chips are used in a potential console version: Amiibo. They still sell like nobodies business where i live and a collection of Amiibos for pokemon that dont already have one would also drag in collectors and fans of these specific pokemon.

I played for many hours on Ga'Ole when I last visited Japan. Have WAY too many of the chips now. Sad I won't be able to use them on a return visit, but do look forward to trying Mezastar one day! Also...found 3 shinies on Ga'Ole while I was there...but didn't manage to catch a single one!

i’ve always wanted to play this game!! i cant even count the amount of hours i’ve spent on youtube watching a playlist about it!! what i didn’t know is that Mezastr Batrio and Tretta (sorry for spelling lol) are the same thing!! that’s awesome!! i had some chips when i was younger and lost it, but i bought a Raboot chip a couple weeks ago!! super interesting video that taught me a lot about a topic i used to love talking about as a kid, keep it up! Also, have you heard the game has Dynamax? at least, i think so. some trailers promoting new chips a few weeks ago show Dynamax Cinderace (along with the other two Galar starters), along with a Pokemon Mezastar dynamax band !! i haven’t been able to find any videos of the two connecting, though!!

We actually have an English Translated version of Pokemon Tretta here in the Philippines at an arcade called Quantum, I even have a collection of Tretta chips. Unfortunately the pandemic hit and I wasn't able to go play it anymore...

A few asian countries have Pokemon Tretta cabinets in english, I have quite a big collection of version 3 tretta chips and I got em all from a cabinet in a local arcade a few years back

AAAAHHHHHH I PLAYED POKEMON TRETA BACK WHEN WE HAD A FIELD TRIP INTO A MALL AT SCHOOL. That was like 3 years ago but I still remember it. I spent half my allowance that day on catching a Sylveon. Then I accidentally traded it for a Skitty because I couldn't read Japanese. It was still really cool tho. I was shocked to see a Japanese arcade cabinet in the Philippines

My favorite Ga-Olé designs are Ratsuha, Racto, Emako, Takade, and Karimi. Also if you wanna talk about the weirdly powerful maid, don't forget the random sailor that has Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus! Or the random pop idol that literally has Arceus itself!

Basically: Pokemon Tretta ended production by Gen 6. Pokemon Ga-Ole ended production by Gen 7. Pokemon Mezastar might end production by Gen 8, respectively. I live in Singapore, and Pokemon Tretta is available throughout some South-East Asian countries and Hong Kong and Japan. Everything after it is exclusive to Japan. I’ve personally invested a lot of time and money into Tretta and I must say it is not worth it lol. I only play it for fun (because I really love Pokemon…) and although there are locals who trade rare Tretta for money and other Trettas almost solely for collection, it shouldn't be a means of investing in an arcade game and turning it into a livelihood (basically gambling). It is an arcade-gacha game, same goes for the other two. I mean, they’re a nifty piece of high-quality plastic…?

i’ve never played mezastar. i have played pokemon tretta though, and even though the graphics aren’t as good as ga-ole or mezastar, i’ve got a lot of chips on tretta already, and it’s the only one we have in my country. But hey, i’m not complaining, tretta lasted longer than ga-ole and battrio so maybe it’ll work out.
