here some stuff that I know that I think might fit in the iceberg : the existence of eternal Floette's signature move light of ruin, the tale about many heads haunting a man in kalos that lives in a abandoned mansion, Sabrina 's mewtwo, Guzzlord lives in a destroyed rustboro city and this last one isn't a actual concrete thing but I have clear memory of ghetisis without his eye visor thing but his eye looked like a deflated balloon dripping out of his eye socket without any blood or anything similar, does anybody else remember this?
@@ludnberg1536 I haven't heard about the Guzzlord one. I don't remember anything like that from Ghetisis, but I do remember seeing concept art of him with both eyes showing
If you think about it. Every anime or games has the "coma" theory. I think it's just people being desperate to make more mysterious, something that was just made for kids/teens and is pure fiction. Some people just want to make connections to reality for some reason. I clearly remember when I was a kid and all of my friends were like "omg Doraemon is all a coma" and that applied to basically every single thing I liked at that times. Digimon, Pokèmon, FF, Mario, Zelda. and more. I never believed in it and I think deep down nobody ever did. It's just funny how far people went to "prove" it.
I think every installment in the Pokémon anime it’s like different universes because ash looks completely different in every new game and same with pikachu and ash never keeps his own old Pokémon like in the galar anime ash just has pikachu and not like his charizard and like squirtle and like his legendary Pokémon he doesn’t have but it’s just a theory
26:36 Eric Stuart, voice of Brock and James, has explained why he said the “4Kids are the devil” line. When the 4Kids dub of the anime was occurring, anime dubbing was considered “non-union work”, which meant actors got paid much less than the union hourly minimum and it didn’t count towards them receiving benefits/insurance through the SAG union. The way most actors on the show made their salary and got their benefits was through commercial ties with Pokémon (i.e A Burger King Commercial featuring a few Ash lines and Pokémon cries). However, as the show continued, 4Kids gave the advertising companies those voice lines for free, meaning the actors would not get paid for them anymore. Eric Stuart got really upset and decided to record the line, and the sound engineer flipped it and put it in show. He said he had to pay around 1000 dollars to re-record the master copy of the episode
You forgot one: On 4chan there was a thread where someone asked people to draw their favorite Pokémon from memory. One person drew a Pokémon called “tentaquill” it quickly became a meme and everyone started making fun of it because it was dumb. Years later, the Pokémon gold beta was leaked. Guess what Pokémon was in it? That right. Tentaquill. It wasn’t called that but the art was almost identical. Either this guy was one of the few people that played the beat in Japan, or he posted from an alternate universe where tentaquill got put in the game.
You forgot about the little ghost girl of Hammerlocke. She asks you to deliver a letter to her crush, Frank, in Ballonlea. Only when you get there, you find out Frank is actually an old man. When you deliver the letter to him, he reveals that she was a childhood friend of his that disappeared after they had a fight. He later found out she was sick after her disappearance and asks if she's okay (you can choose to be silent or say that she's fine, much to his relief). When you go back to where the girl was, she's gone.
Yeah, you can also go back afterwards to where she is, and mash A until you get a text box thanking you for delivering the letter. After that you get an item called Reaper's cloth, don't know what it's for tho
@@itsalsorowan I believe the reaper cloth is like for evolving a dusclop via trading, which is a ghost pokémon. Which just solidifies that yeah she's probably a ghost.
I think every pokemon game since Gen 4 has some sort of paranormal stuffs like that. In gen 4 it was the woman that disappeared the moment you re-enter the house (Route 217?) and also the Old Chateau. In gen 5 games there were the bridge jumping and the haunted house. Gen 6 got hex maniac. I think it's a tradition at this point to have something like them. Anyway does SWSH has this kind of stuffs?
Dude, I remember as a kid, a friend of mine had mew and he told me about this truck thing. I freaked the f out and never got him lol. Anyways, good memories. Simpler time when I was sure I was bound to become a elite pokemon trainer lol
Miguel Rodrigues yeah but what sounds more interesting? Agatha and Oak were lovers who separate from each other and hate each other or Agatha is just the other Grandparent
In the manga , oak and agatha hate each other and agatha has a grudge against blue and oak. Oak also defeated her in a tournament.(kangaskhan's dizzy punch or something beat her gengar idk how i thought gengar was immune to normal types maybe a special ability) and then agatha got mad that such a strong trainer was "wasting his ability" to do research and pokedex stuff instead of battling i think. Idk i read the manga like 7 years ago😂 also bertha and agatha look so similar
I can only speak of my experiences as a kid when it happened, but everyone I knew thought it was a new legendary. If I think about it, it's not too farfetched (hah pun) for kids to think that. Mew is a small and cute Pokémon that also happens to be one of the strongest. We only had gen 1 to go by at the time so when thinking about it, we have to exclude every single gen besides the first.
Idk if yall ever heard about this one ,but in when 5th grade , their was this rumor where if you released a jiggly puff in lavender town , the crying jiggly puff would appear and erase all of your saved data. Pretty scary for an 11 year old
I don’t remember many details, but in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, there is this couple that you do a double battle with. One of them uses cloyster. The other uses onix. They are husband and wife. This was a meme about the, probably, naughty developers
#JusticeForPorygon Not sure if it was in this vid because I only watched the bottom two levels, but the only place you can hear Porygon2 and Porygon-Z's anime cries are in some obscure spinoff game that I forgot the name of
Two inaccuracies with the Racist Gengar: -The James cosplayer spoke up to confirm he did not distribute the Gengar. The eyewitness descriptions mentioned the culprit was dressed as a Team Rocket Grunt, but not specifically James. -The posters were put up for a DIFFERENT fake event in which someone was distributing a non-racist Eevee.
As someone who trained with VGC regulars, a lot of “perfect” Pokémon are definitely hacked. “As long as the moves and stats are legal, [the judges] dont care,” I’d always hear.
TheRogueRush it won’t change anytime soon, even in gen 5 you could just download pokes from the net and put them on your cart. I personally believe that when the games make it easier to min max perfect pokes, hacking diminishes (we used to have to hack x99 for TMs because it was insane to play a new save file just to teach a Pokémon earthquake, then gen 6 made them reusable). No clue why gen 7 onwards made it harder to do such instead.
Yeah, I know of at least a couple of times that big name competitors had hacked Pokemon that were caught only because they had impossible combinations, like Pokemon with event only moves, that were in the wrong ball. and every time it's always some ridiculous story like; they got it from a friend who assured them it was real or something... Honestly, since it can't be enforced it shouldn't even be a rule.
I actually have a theory for how the animal names such as “The Land Shark Pokémon” were created. Since there are multiple dog/cat Pokémon, the creators of the Pokédexes decided to create names for each of these similar Pokémon to group them together.
My explanation for npcs using underleveled pokemon is this: maybe the levels arent set in stone. Maybe YOUR dragonite evolved at 60 but not all evlove exactly at 60 but rather 60ish. For the sake of simplicity, the devs made it so every pokemon you catch will evolve at the same level, but if you were a person actually living in the pokemon world there's more of a gray area. And a skilled trainer can get their pokemon to evolve sooner.
I've always thought of it this way. What we're seeing isn't an exact representation of the Pokémon world. We're seeing a simplified version of it, where the rules and limits of gameplay mechanics come into play. Instead of real living cities with millions of people, we're seeing cities with like 10 buildings and 20 people. We don't get to see Pokémon acting like wild animals like the pokédex suggests, and for the sake of gameplay, every Pokémon hatches from an egg - even though that is canonically not the case at all. I never saw the NPCs using underleveled Pokémon as a problem, because they're only underleveled from our perspective as a player of the game, not as a character within that world.
There's an entire NSFW subreddit dedicated to the Hex Maniac. r/SexManiac if you curious. It's on the verge of being a dead subreddit though but it's there if you wanna check out some Hex Maniac pics.
Here are a few that hasn't been stated in this video. 1. Giovanni's Suicide Rumor: In HG/SS's Celebi Event, after you defeat Giovanni, he commits suicide when he exits the cave, which is behind a waterfall and above the ground. Of course its' debunk. 2. Silver is Giovanni's Son. Don't really know if this is a secret tho. Probably the tip of the Iceburg. 3. The dumb, Ash is in a coma theory. 4. The anime purposely change the female companions for Ash every show because they do not want the boys who watch the show to get bored with the girls on screen. 5. The move "Thrash" in Pokemon B/W sounds just like the beginning of the Super Mario Bros. theme. 6. Giratina and Arceus are suppose to be parallels to God and Satan. 7. You can skip the ghost fight in Red/Blue by giving the ghost a poke doll. The Battle ends as if you defeated it. 8. The Pokemon Lost Silver creepypasta 9. Wailord and Skitty are in the same egg group and can mate with each other. 10. Pikablue was a thing 11. Trading a pokemon from R/S/E to Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire will give the player a special message. 12. Pokemon Gen 1 has such broken mechanics compared to the Gen's today. There's a list of it somewhere on the internet. 13. The cut opening to Pokemon Mewtwo Strikes Back
"A few" lol. I was going to put some of these on the iceberg but either forgot or decided not to, can't remember which. I didn't know about 4 and 5 though. They're pretty interesting
@@mageofshadow Giratina is not the devil and the Distortion World is not Hell. Giratina is the embodiment of antimatter (stated both in-game and in an interview) and the violence it was banished for is a reference to the violent reaction when matter comes into contact with antimatter.
I saw something on pinterest where it was a pokemon book that showed the anotomy and explained things on the pokemon. Ditto was on it and it had little web feet think like psyduck but small and redish toned. Not saying its was some official thing, But the most probable ive seen
I actually have three to add. In Pokemon Master's it is implied that Iris and Leon are cousins. Also in Masters, Red actually speaks. The reasoning for him never speaking is because of how strong of a bond he and his Pokemon have, so they can use moves without Red having to say anything. Finally, in Snowbelle City it snows differently in town one day (Can't remember) to remember Iwata.
@@TheRogueRenegade Right, it might also be why we associate some specially weird looking animals (like maybe the axoltl) to pokemon instead to other animals when we first see them
Oh yeah. I know how you do that. You take the game cartridge, set it outside, pour gasoline on it, light it up, and just like that, all your Pokémon evolve into charcoal
Why didn't you say the rest of the war theory? The theory is because there are so few able-bodied fighting age men around Kanto. The ones that are there are in the mob (Team Rocket) and could thus dodge the draft. The majority of people in Kanto are children running around unsupervised, sailors, and women. There are even references to pokemon being used for terrorism and other implications of harm against people.
Most of them I didn't go much into detail since I didn't want a 2 hour video. Also, there's plenty of theories on the war, so I won't know all of them sadly. Thanks for bringing it up though, it's pretty interesting
You didnt go into depth with any of them... Why do u care how long it is? Plenty of people are successful with long videos. I wouldve rather known the details. Maybe you could have made a couple videos
Since you mentioned to comment something that could be added to the iceberg, how about multi-universal Lanturn? Basically, someone mathematically calculated that based on one of the Pokedex entries, Lanturn's light is essentially strong enough to destroy the universe
If Team Galactic really wanted to destroy the Universe and build it anew, they should have started by catching Lanturns. Maybe that's why they searched the lakes of Sinnoh?
Ngl the concept of an 'Unkown King' actually seems really cool. Also, if Gamefreak did something like that, Unkown would actually contribute something outside of lore!
26:35 So, I actually went to a small event where Eric Stuart (original voice of Brock and James) let us ask him questions among other things. Someone actually asked him about the "4kids and the devil" thing and according to him the reason he did this was because he was mad at 4Kids. At the time, they would have him do lines for their commercials and he'd be paid every time, like Burger Kings. However, 4Kids did several dickish moves to him, mostly how they started to use lines from the show instead and didn't pay the voice actors for them, which cut a significant part of their salary out. He was mad about this so he had this slipped in. I remember some other stuff from it too so if anyone wants to know some other stories I'll talk about them lol
@@Veilure He was very happy of his VC work for Metaknight where he portrayed him as having a Spanish accent. If I remember correctly this was a reference to Zorro? Not sure. I believe he might have been unsure of it at first because people didn't really like it, but when a young Spanish boy came up to him one day and started talking about how he was happy one of his favorite, cool characters sounded like him, Eric decided that it was good to continue it and he took pride in it.
don't forget about how Lugia's voice in the Pokemon 2000 movie was supposed to be a women's voice, like a mother. and how the Pokemon 2000 movie was meant to be the end of Pokemon story. Dr Lava has a really cool article translating and explaining Takeshi Shudo's blog he made before his death, if you haven't seen it.
TheRogueRush yeah, the reason why the first Pokemon movie was so dark was because he was thrown the keys and told to do whatever, since they were still dealing with the fallout of the Porygon episode at the time and they barely supervised him. and when it was so successful, they did the same thing again for the second movie lol. super interesting stuff, but also pretty sad, considering his life towards his untimely demise.

What's still the most impressive to me is how the creators of Pokemon made something with so much mystery and wonder that it has fueled all of these rumors for so long. When you build such big, creative worlds full of so many secrets, it really starts to seem like anything is possible and almost any plausible theory is going to become fan legend overnight.
23:01 I used an action replay all the time on my gen 4 games, so I would walk through walls and just travel through the mystery zones as I played the game. Grew up with that, it really has a nostalgic feel for me now.
same here! my brother and i shared an action replay and it was fun going through gen 4 just being as much of a menace as possible. walking through walls, catching opponents pokémon- good times man
Is the Pokémon section of my brain the reason why I knew so much of this, even quite far down the iceberg? Still, I definitely learnt some new stuff from this and it was thoroughly enjoyable!
Something to add is that in one of the gen 2 games the anti piracy thing was your pokemon saying they won’t listen to a criminal even though the rival literally could have stole the Pokémon you chose and it would listen to them anyway
Sorry if this was mentioned already, but I found AZ's floette really intresting. It had a model in gen 6, had a small reference in ORAS, different base stats from normal floette and its own signature move. However, no seperate dex entry. Until USUM, where AZ's floette suddenly gained 2 dex entries SEPERATE from normal floette talking about the terrifying power it holds.
you were able to hack it into ORAS using a specific method, the method itself was patched but i was able to get one, kept it and eventually transferred it into Pokemon Home, where it oddly didn't have an icon in the box screen (it was just a grey pokeball symbol) but a full HD model. Interesting...
I think it was a hint at a sequel to X and Y. because in an interview morimoto was asked for a hint to the next pokemon game and said it was "about a flower" which could mean AZ's floette, or it could have meant lillie, who is named after a flower in both english and japanese and played a big role in sun and moon.
Man, I miss when burger king had their pokemon toys. I remember I got a gold plated mewtwo card. Sadly, my moms ex husband took it in the divorce. I recently offered to buy it. But he apparently sold it a couple years ago to buy a pack of smokes.
@@b4Sed1593 its not about buying it. Its the fact that he took something that was precious to me and sold it, cause it meant nothing to him. I got that card going out to eat with my great grandfather, who passed when I was 12.
A kid on the playground told me that a partially destroyed Pokemon Red Cartridge would have weird glitches like Charizard's head coming out the top of PokeCenters. My brother caught me trying to smash my copy of the game... Funny how kids will believe absolutely anything.
the "no, you’re not the one" girl makes me kinda nostalgic. i remember telling all my friends (that also played pokemon) the next day at school that i saw this weird girl floating... and i was so convinced that there was something wrong with my game xD
I think it's based on stuff that's known, being on pokemon youtube will let you know tip of the iceberg things, you can stumble upon middle, but you have to research for abyss
"In Diamond and Pearl, There was a book that told us, It was normal to have [18:28] relationships with Pokemon" Every Vaporeon On Poké Earth : "Why do I hear boss music ?"
But has anyone ACTUALLY found one since then? Glitch or not, the fact that we don't have people hunting Monochrome Pokemon like shinies makes me feel that the whole thing was a hoax.
Yeah, but there wouldn't really be anything to gain from it. It's apparently rarer than a shiny, and just goes back to normal after caught. I don't think people would do it without an incentive
@@TheRogueRenegade I heard they stay monochrome after caught (as shown by some of the pictures you used showing them in the trainer menu), it's only when the game is turned off and some other circumstances that they revert to normal colors. From what I remember, they're estimated to be 10 times rarer than shinies, but people on the internet are madlads, so if someone would go as far as to break the law to obtain Beta Gold, you would think that at least one person would livestream themselves hunting for one of these things. All it would take is setting the game to the initial version and a lot of time. It's so weird how undocumented it all is. Like, there's a few GameFAQs articles from 2013 and a dozen or so photos from around that time, but that's the only proof we have. If I may contradict what I said earlier, I don't think the monochrome phenomina is down to chance, it's a texture glitch, so it must have a scientifically provable cause, like sleep modeing on specific frames, having a specific number of pokemon in the pc, or trainer id. Gosh, now I'm all excited wondering if they're even real.
I'm super late to the party here, but this was a really great video. 12:54 the funny thing is, the _only reason_ Dragonite gets Barrier in Gen 6 is because of an event. The Dragonite in question which was distributed was literally called "Lance's Dragonite" and is a reference to his Gen 1 Dragonite, which is level 62 and has all of its Gen 1 moves, including Barrier. It's honestly just funny to me that the only way the actual player can get a Barrier Dragonite is because it's an exact copy of Lance's incorrect one.
I feel like some of these are cut off a little sharply, and lacking some depth. EG: Genisect is Kabutops, it abruptly stops, after only saying that Kabutops is also really old. No mention of any similarities between the two, just... Next thing!
Yeah, i see what you mean. I wanted to briefly touch upon these topics because the video was already long enough. If I went into depth, the video would easily be around 2 hours long
@@TheRogueRenegade Nothing wrong with a longer video. People can stop part way if they're not up for the full length, and greater depth and explanations are usually why people come to an iceberg explanation. At least that's why I do. I liked the video overall, mind. I'd like to see more of you'd be interested in doing more.
I struggled to export a 45 minute video, I have no clue if I could even export a 2 hour long one lol. I think most people would be scared away or get bored. I don't know if I'll do another iceberg, but I know I'll definitely post more in the future. Thank you!
People debate over what anime character went through the most pain. It’s easily ash. Ash hasn’t seen his mom in 20 years, his dad was never shown so he must’ve left when ash was young. And whenever he goes to another region, he loses all his friends and Pokémon he had made. So he has lost so many friends and family, making him the anime character who went through the most
I still have a bunch of those Pokeballs from the Burger King promotion toys. They're the size of an apple. There's no way a kid could even begin to get one of those things in their mouth let alone choke on them.
@@TheRogueRenegade The falling Diamond dust is well documented, while the encounter rates is resent info, I think you had the right idea taking the later and not the former
I believe the "VGC misconduct" thing is referring to an incident where a team of players got kicked out of a hotel for throwing human feces at each other. Anyways, nice vid.
I was searching everywhere for what VGC Misconduct was, but I didn't find anything so I made my own conclusion. I can't believe that actually happened though
@@TheRogueRenegade I'd thought it was the incident where people brought guns to one of the tournaments. They posted about it on Facebook and were arrested before they got inside.
It was at an event in Birmingham UK, spanish team of VGC players did fling poo on their hotels corridor. Did you know that team plasma grunt clothing, iconogharpy and even the seven sage are base by knight templar, the catholic church, and the roman emperor contantine. 1. The clothing of team plasma grunts look like knight amour without steel plating 2. The symbol of team plasma is actually a chi-rho. The seven sage look like the cardinal while ghetsis seem to be the pope of team plasma. 4. In black 2 and white 2 team plasma turn in to neo plasma is actually historical accurate as the templar start to be prosecuted in are own history, the templar start to become pirate and hoist the similar looking skull flag as infamous jolly roger flag.
Not gonna lie, as much I enjoyed this, I feel like you need to slow down, friend. I had to rewind a countless number of times to listen again to catch what you said. :(
Yo this is for the bottom of the iceberg. Burger King tried to recall the toys but they estimated over 2 million people had already gotten them. So they just kept giving them out anyway.
In a game informer issue from years ago they interviewed one the people from game freak/ the Pokémon company they asked him "so when people eat meat in pokemon are they eating tauros?" The guy replied something like "nah, the world of Pokémon is way more technologically advanced than ours it is safe to assume they are eating synthetic meat".
Sorry if this was previously mentioned, but one of my favorites is the ghost of route 217. The house is obviously dark and abandonned, and after her 'gift' she is gone forever.
One thing that always stood out to me is how would Jolt Vap and Flare go down in the burning tower. Flareon would be fine and Vaporeon could put the fire out. Jolt could just be fast and run out.
How about the invasive species theory? I believe that MatPat did a theory on a handful of Pokémon in alola being invasive species, like yungoose and meowth.
The original dragon being part of creation trio is honestly fitting, since the brothers created new region with it's power. I wonder what it would control though
