This was a good episode! I like that they didn't end up cancelling the battle tournament because of the Explorers, speaking of the Explorers, their battles with our heroes were really nice! And yes you make a good point about the concept of those battles and how well thought-out they were! I'm actually super excited for Liko Vs Roy this Friday, I love both of them so much and that's why I'm going cheer for both of them (even tho it makes more sense for Roy to win 😌)
the explorers have made me realise...yeah they are a far better villain team than Team Rocket. Nostalgic bias aside Team Rocket was very formulaic and villain of the week, unless they broke the formula and mixed it up a bit they were actually just kind of an annoying roadblock getting in the way of whatever Ash was doing and as I rewatch the anime from the very beginning I noticed Team Rocket was more annoying than I remember and just there to pad out the episode runtime. But the Explorers are an actual threat and when they show up you feel there's something to lose if they win
I@@karthus006if people want to compared TR with the explores, they should use TR admin from gen 2 games, they more threating than rocket trio that they completed off from the anime because Ash cant face admin level Villains back then (the trio is just top grunts level)
@@karthus006 of course people would be comparing Jessie James and meowth to the explorers they are both the main villains that fight the main characters constantly. How many times did ash and friends ever fight anyone else from team rocket besides Jessie and James answer not a lot at all in the 25 years of the anime. I’m pretty sure they only seen Giovanni like twice while I’m positive once gibeon can come out of his room he will be fighting mostly friede and amethio a lot same with hamber fighting Diana. That will happen after going to laqrium which will most likely be halfway thru HZ because gen 10 won’t be coming out until 2026. So we still have the rest of this year, all of next and most of the year after for HZ and that is if they stop it right before gen 10 comes out instead of continuing it like JN months later to give us a conclusion which I would prefer that and it to be 20 ep instead of 11.
This was very good episode. It was good, that Penny was relevant during Explorers's attack. They actually meant business and weren't here for the sake of joke. Absolute highlight is definitely Liko vs Sidian. Not only she stood for herself and school (which made Grusha pass her), but it was really satisfying at Liko and Roy to defeat them. Really like, how Sidian actually says Liko's name as "remember me". She is got treated seriously by Explorers, which is great
My personal favourite scene from this episode was when Sidian asked Liko to remember his name. This shows that now Amethio and Sidian both have respect for Liko in their minds. Also I loved when she said, I will stop you, explorers. I don't remember the dialogue clearly, but the feeling when she said this was something I can't explain. It was nice to see her so brave.
@@Aditya17-v3p At first with Roy, she and Dot met Coral and Sidian the first time then escaped and were rescued by Captain Pikachu and Friede. Second, they were challenged by Coral and Sidian and battled hard with a brief strategy and survived the battle. And finally, they bravely protected the school and Terapagos from Sidian, Agate and Coral with or without Terastialization strategy and nearly won the battle. So much for Ashketchium, he and his companions held back against every regional evil team like Team Flare. They fought them at the end or some number of times but they didn't plan their battle strategies wisely. Including the almost Serious Team Rocket Trio in the Unova Region.
WAIT THIS ADDS UP, DOT AND PENNY IS ABT TECH, ROY AND NEMONA IS ABT BATTLING AND LIKO AND ARVEN IS ABT TREASURE, MAYBE LIKO AND ARVEN WILL HELP EACH OTHER WITH THE TITAN QUEST/KORIDON AND MIRIDON, AND THE REST OF THE BIG 6
I never know when to switch to their dub names 😅 like, are we far enough into the dub now for the dub names to be more known by more people? 🤔 I have no idea ahhh
@@Pokeferlax It's fine, it's just that some people just stick with the sub version and the japanese names. Just use the names that you personally prefer.
Something I’ve noticed: All of the Explorers’ secondary Pokemon have been either Flying-type or have the ability to simply levitate off the ground. Amethio has Corviknight Coral’s got her Glalie Sidian has Aerodactyl Chalce has Xatu Spinel has both Beheeyem and Magneton Honorable Mentions Zirc and Onia also both use Skarmory.
This was a very fun episode. The action, the chase around the school, the animation was done well too. Explores are a good threat as always. Plus development for the ice gym is sweet. 💚
Liko fulfilled the requirements to pass her test on the same criteria that Grusha considered as necessary to pass. Basically that situation was Grusha failing Liko, realizing that he made a bad call after seeing her battle once again but from an outsiders perspective and correcting his mistake.
I can see why those people would think it's a pity pass of some sort because it wasn't a rematch against Grusha they had hoped for but at the same time Grusha is a results focused trainer and what he saw Liko went up against a very strong trainer who has passed the Terrestal Course and despite breaking the rules she terrestalized to match her opponent who also terrestalized and won protecting Terrapagos and the school with it. Grusha stayed true to his character and saw Liko getting the results she wanted and thus Liko passes the Terrestal Course while also having earned the respect of Onyx/Sidian. Arven in Scarlet and Violet was searching Herba Mystica that Titan Pokemon gorges to restore his severely wounded Maubostiff due to an incident that happened in Area Zero. The fact Arven is making his debut in Horizons and three of Lucius's Pokemon showing up in the coming arc could mean Arven's eventual involvement into helping the Rising Volt Tacklers in finding Lucius's other pokemon along with him and Liko sharing an interest in herbs and the herba mystica along with them finding Titan Pokemon when looking for them. This eventually would lead to a possible expedition to Area Zero to uncover more about Terrapagos and the introduction of Professor Sada and Turos perhaps. Don't know how much data Chalice/Agate got before her laptop got destroyed but I am curious what she did manage to get like maybe some info on Terrestalization, Area Zero, Galapagos, or even the four Ruin Pokemon.
Liko getting results because she wanted to protect others is very much in character. Ever since the beginning of the Horizon series, Liko showed that she only acts her best when it is in the defense of others, because the first one she wanted to protect that made her break out of her shell was with Sprigatito.
Glad you and I agree that it's BS that people think Liko's pass is a pity pass like Ash with his first 2 gym badges, she defeated a villain on a whole nother scale than Team Rocket and was protecting the school and Terapagos while doing it.
I get how and why a lot of people felt that way but even so, I also find this take disappointing because saying and thinking Liko passing was pitty and felt identical to Ash made me feel disappointed because the Explorers are more dangerous than Team Rocket. 🙄🫶 And defeating a member from a villain organization while saving the school is quite the accomplishment and its frustrating how not everyone thinks that way. 🫠🥲
People also ignore the fact the rocket trio is just "top agent/grunts" ranks while sidian, coral, agata, and spinel is "admin/executives" rank, they not even on the same villain rank
@@irondan5769 it'd really be BS if Liko was just passed for only trying to protect the school, WITHOUT winning the battle in front of her. Grusha wanted results, which everyone should, and Liko technically delivered some by getting a win
I didn’t see a video on Saturday and my mind immediately went to the thought that you were sick. I’m so glad you’re not sick, and I hope you had a wonderful vacation!
My favorite part of the episode was the ending of Liko's battle. It was a perfect callback to her previous battle against Grusha. In that battle, Floragato and Altaria, both terastallized, were both using ranged attacks, and whoever's attack got through would be the winner. In the end, Floragato couldn't overpower Altaria, and Liko ended up losing. That loss hung over her head for a decent while, reinforcing to the viewer that that exact moment represents Liko's loss. In this battle, Liko found herself in the exact same situation as when she lost to Grusha. This time around, Floragato learned from its mistake of trying to overpower its opponent, and instead of trying to out-muscle Garganacl, Floragato chose to redirect the magical leaf in order to score a direct hit to win the battle. Floragato played to its strength, which as you mentioned is its speed and agility, and doing so allowed it to win. Floragato and Liko learned from their past mistakes, and in the moment of truth, they used what they learned from their past failure to come out on top. I love the fact that the writers chose to represent the ending of Liko's test in this battle, with Grusha watching no less. In her battle against Grusha, this situation represented Liko's loss. In this battle, the situation represents Liko's victory over her past failures. Against Grusha, it represented Liko failing her test. Against Sidian, it represented Liko PASSING her test, and I just love the correlation between these two moments. TLDR; The ending of Liko's battle in this episode is the same scenario as that of her battle with Grusha, and her beating Sidian in this fashion represents her overcoming her previous failure, and I love that from a writing perspective.
They are more serious than Team Rocket Trio Jessie James and Meowth Due to their Arguments, Less Confidence, Overconfidence, Evil Confidence, Balanced Confidence, Comedy Moments and finally, Anti-hero Moments. The Explorers Sidean, Agate and Coral and company are serious members with Tactics and Evil Strategies different to Ametheo who is recently an Anti-Villain along with his companions.
Well the TR trio was serious in BW first few seasons. Coral seems to be less smart though. Sidian is more battle smart than planning but Chalce and Spinel without a doubt rival some of the more serious TR elites like Giovanni, Atilla and Hun from Legend of Thunder
@@hunterhq295 There's also the Alternate version of Team Rocket in Master Journeys who are also and more serious than the regular Team Rocket Trio as well as the Matrix hired by Giovanni.
Team Rocket also leak their plan to everyone "we gonna steal these entire garden for boss" "we gonna take this sunnyshore tower" While the explores doing their plan so silently that we need to investigate them
I hope Coral and Sidian won't lose their threat level so soon and look into team upgrades. Since the anime went thru the trouble of adding Raifort, I hope Chalce stole more than they bargained for, and we find out that she got data on the Ruin Legends as well as Terapagos. (Look at Spinel, Sidian, and Chalce's designs, then look at Chien Pao, Ting Lu, and Wo Chien, and tell me you don't see similar colors and design attributes. Less so for Coral and Chi Yu, tho.)
PLEASE, LET US HAVE THE MABOSSTIFF ARC. It seems that the team star story straight up already happened, because Penny is working with the league, but please, let Arven have his story told. And Kieran's too.
@@leahschaffer7646 Will have to see, though this means the MC of Scarlet/Violet already did the main story and now is either at Kitakami or Blueberry Academy?
@@hunterhq295If that's true we won't see: 1. Ogerpon and loyal three 2. Kieran psycho Arc (Because MC going to already beat him at the time Liko and RVT arrive at BB Academy) 3. Rampaging Terapagos (duh)
Defeating Sango would have been a good time for Fuecoco to evolve. Liko passing- the test was just a test. It wasn't really important. What happens outside of training and tests is what's important.
I really enjoyed Pokémon Journeys Episode 66 for the most part. While I'm annoyed that Naranja Academy has very little security and the Roy vs Coral battle didn't get enough screen time, I'm glad that Liko passed her Implementation test after Grusha recognized her true strength during her battle against Sidian. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.
Just to note, a recent update just revealed something on Goalius in my school vr game that ties him to something big (due to him being on earth for 3 decamillenia, his body adapted to earths energy meaning he can Terastrzalie but he is a Stella type making him a big threat to any battle if done) and Tri Titan boss fight phase 3 is getting worked on (Phase 2 attacks like opening a ultra wormhole to cause a meteor shower, Use his energy cannons and using the gravity Manipulation ability to bring up massive stone spikes)
Great review. Love your content. And don't worry about the lateness of it as you had a good reason for it. And I totally agree with you about Grusha passing Liko, as it's not a cop out. It's being true to their characters and I'm actually disappointed that some people feel otherwise. And the fact that Liko and Roy really got to show their chops in that episode was great despite the Explorers actually succeeding in their goal. Can't wait for your review of the next episode. Also, I hope you had a nice vacation with your family. Hope you had a lot of fun and good food to enjoy.
You guys know how certain characters have features that resemble pokemon? Liko's outfit looks like a Oshawott Dot's hair is Cherrim Ludlow kinda looks like a Drampa Ann's hair knots resembles maybe a Dolliv? Or is there another pokemon? I've seen that before can't pinpoint which pokemon, unless it really is Doliv. 6:24 Look at Corals outfit, I just realized she has spikes on her jacket like the spikes on Pyukumuku. Anyone know other resemblances for the other characters? I obviously don't mean for example the fact Dot uses Snorlax slippers, that's obviously obvious. Does Arven's hair also resemble something? PS: It was a great episode, I'm loving this series since it's started.
I was waiting for your review of the episode, I was so confused why you didn't make a review at the time lol Anyway, I hope you had a wonderful vacation :D
Compared to Team Rocket these are well thought out villains like they're not idiots who constantly fail in their schemes i actually haven't seen horizons yet I'm still stuck on sun and moon...
I hope that Amethio ends up being there when Liko or Roy win he congratulates them and they ask him why he’s there and he tells them about how his path to the Raudum Paradise is separate from both the explorers and the rising volt tacklers.
Lol, I totally missed Anne battling Liko 2.0. This was a great episode! Definitely an 8.25/10. (Idk why I keep giving out super specific ratings, I just do :P) I feel it will be best if Roy wins the battle as he is currently the strongest one of them by far, having won both of his test battles, while Liko won neither of hers. I also feel his pokemon are stronger than Liko's as they have a bit more battle experience. I imagine Arven being paired up with Liko storywise like how Penny is with Dot and Nemona with Roy. It suits too, considering both Roy and Nemona are warmongers, Penny and Dot are geeks, and now Arven and Liko are gonna be historians, delving into the lore and all. I too really prefer the Japanese names over the English ones. As an Asian myself, those names just feel more natural, though if I am introduced to English names long before Japanese ones, then I'll stick to English. (Like how I call all game characters their English names because I did not know their Japanese ones for a long time, and all the show's original characters their Japanese ones because the English dub was so late and I don't watch that one either way.)
Dude, this episode had everything! The Explorers acting undercover, computer hacking, major battles. It's almost like a spy movie, so cool :D It would have been cool if we got to see more from the Roy and Dot battles, but I guess there's only so much time in a single TV episode. All three were awesome though! And I'm sure the next episode will more than make up for it. Sidian and Coral were amazing too, a bit crazy sometimes but insanely strong together. I agree with you 100%, Sidian is a great character - he got overconfident at the start, but even after getting humbled by Liko he remained composed and showed respect to his rival. I'd love if their rivalry grows stronger and get to battle against each other more often.
I can’t wait to see how they handle Kieran, due to him being such a brilliant layered and realistic character, (plus he’s so autism coded and I hope they handle that well)
I absolutely love how things are going so far with the episodes. Liko passing this way makes sense to me because she was handling a serious situation very well with her battle against Onyx/Obsidian, which Grusha was willing to not interfere with to let Liko prove herself, calling it a "pity pass" really downplays what really happened in the episode and both Liko and Grusha as characters.
Okay, who should win. Roy is strong and won both his gym battle, but this may mean roy will lose cause he winning alot, so liko will win, but it a coin flip really
They after all never really focused on Giovanni and his main team Rocket team instead of rocket class clown trio One of most wasted potential in original show
Finally, congrats on passing the test and protecting the school and Terapagos Liko You did well Dot and Roy, it's a good effort somehow. The real battle between The Rising Volt Tacklers vs The Explorers the third times a charm begins. Ashketchium always blasts off Teams Rocket Trio but caught off guard against every regional Evil Teams including the other Team Rocket.
Final arc climax Arc 1 : liko and roy stand no chance against explores and friede had to save them Arc 2 : they cant defeat them, but they survive them until the end Arc 3 : they finally defeat them Also liko showing her true power without rematch is better than rematch because in terastal training theres no rematch option not only grusha test, this was revealed by dot clone that she failed, roy got rematch from rhyme are considered miracle according to nemona, meaning that she never give rematch chance to other who failed
I like what there doing with Penny, Arven, and Nemona. They got the battle lovers Roy and Nemona. The tech geeks Dot/Penny. And the people who focus on emotion/ well being of pokemon Liko and Arven
For me on Liko’s return to Terastal Training, I’m kind of on the fence about it. Hear me out, please. I do agree that Liko really *did* earn her revaluation *and* that it fits both Liko and Grusha’s characters. What bugs me is that this happens immediately after the previous episode, where Liko realized that Terastallization isn’t her only path. I don’t know about others, but I feel that much of Liko’s part of that episode is defeated by this one. Maybe that’s just me nitpicking and my reason is actually stupid, but I can’t help but feel a little annoyed about it.
First in foremost, welcome back. I hope your vacation was awesome. Yeah, as for this episode, let's be honest here, we all know that Liko was going to get her redemption coming down to the end of the arc, and it felt so damn good. To me, i believe if she was actually scoring some wins throughout most of her course, her victory against sidian/Onyx wouldn't be so significant, it probably would have felt like your typical victory like Ash always KOing the trio of Team Rocket. So, at this point, it all boils down to ones patience and tolerance towards the writing. If you like slow, suspenseful climatic build-ups, then you are in the clear. Can't say for those who don't support this kind of writing otherwise.
I enjoy your review videos and your perspective! On a totally unrelated note, I believe we'll see Ogerpon in a movie instead of the series. If not Ogerpon, then Miraidon, Koraidon, and the time machine. Since they already have the Rayquaza storyline, the SV legs might be in the movie. Also I wish they made more movies... I miss when there were like 2 or 3 movies per generation...
The episode is good but I do wonder what Sango/Coral's 2nd pokemon team member is. We know that Amitheo has Ceruledge and Corviknight, Spinel with Umbreon and Magneton and Beheyem, Agate with Medicham and now her revealed Xatu, and Sidian has Garganacl and Aerodactyl. (We all know most of the explorers do have a pokemon that does have the ability to mega evolve except for Spinel and Amitheo so I wonder if we could possibly get a mini arc/story for when the Z-A games drop since they usually do a small mini arc to promote the games like they did in Journeys with the whole alternate timeline/going to Hisui arc when Legends Arceus came out).
I firmly believe Coral/ Sango has a second pokemon also because they needed two pokemon for the second half of terestal course. Kinda think it's Pyukumuku because her outfit resembles one and would go with her personality.
@@krampusapprenticeofdarksan7870 I would absolutely love that Frosmoth is one of my favorite pokemon. Won't be surprised if it's something scary dark, ghost type. What I love about Coral is she makes so a scary intimating pokemon like Glalie look cute.
Hey Pokeferlax welcome back hope you had a great vacation and great recap of the latest Pokémon horizons episode thanks for sharing this and as always looking forward to seeing more from your channel 👍❤️🦊❄️
Liko, Roy and Dot return to Naranja Academy, where a battle tournament is announced, between all the Terastal Training Course students. During the tournament, Dot and Penny discover that the school's computer system is being hacked by Agate, the Explorers member. Agate is trying to steal the school's data on Terapagos. Liko, Roy, and Dot split up to stop the Explorers. Liko and Floragato battle Sidian and Garganacl, with Liko having to resort to using Terastallization, in order to protect Terapagos and the school. Since she failed her Terastal training, she isn't allowed to Terastallise anymore, but she does it anyway, and defeats Sidian. Roy and Fuecoco then defeat Coral and Glalie too. And Dot tries to defeat Agate before she can steal the data... but Agate manages to steal the data and escape, with Sidian and Coral. Liko thinks Grusha is going to punish her for using Terastallization, but Grusha surprisingly compliments her, saying that he understands now that Liko's main strength is protecting people and Pokemon... and so Grusha says that Liko finally passes her Terastal training, due to succeeding in protecting the school and Terapagos. It is then announced that the next round of the battle tournament is Liko VS Roy! I hope that summary helps! 😁
I don’t actually watch freshly aired episodes. I rely on your reviews and plot summaries to feel like I’m watching it so please don’t exclude summaries. I don’t know where to watch it
It’s going to be 3 on 1 maybe even 4 on 1 if friede is there and the flying ep is going to have liko vs orbaliva, Roy vs galarian moltres and dot vs lapras so they will be getting training from the other hero Pokémon and possibly new moves as well.
