This is an example of the backrooms I want to see more of, the liminal, peaceful, calm backrooms and poolrooms, ones without any monsters and focusing on the relaxing part of these rooms
I love how, depending on the context, the Poolrooms can be both a scary liminal nightmare, or, if you want it to be, a pocket dimension you create to go to when in a meditative state, where you are in control of the peaceful environment as you float in the water.
Indeed, I always viewed it as the latter. Liminal things in general, just bring me so close to a supreme state of calmness and understanding of it all. All of the chaos of life and time, they just seem to all fall into place, into an instinctive and spiritual reason. Even so, it all feels so alien and yet so familiar... does it not? Almost as if it is unlocking very personal and emotionally warm memories of a time and place, that both do not exist... or...? For so long, as far as I can remember, I had this unique feeling about this world and I never quite realized it until I met this concept online, the concept of "liminal", be it either places or just in general as how everything can be viewed. The mind seems to entertain those wild and soothing ideas of what could've been on what currently is, but we never get the answer and that is fine, that's what is so lovely... about it... you do not necessarily need answers in this magical and mysterious place. It is quite sad that we as humans are unable to share our emotions clearly as well as our imagination deeply with others. We are, however, stuck with art, a path of self reflection, a mirror. Through that we understand others and ourselves but we are unable to fully know nor fully replicate what they have felt but we are given clues that just leaves us with a feeling akin to an unrequited love... we truly are lonely, yet lovely creatures, aren't we?
The one that feels the most in tune with how I am feeling right now as I am currently writing this... is the one at 5:46 I wrote this and the previous comment as it played that. (Just so you can understand my mental image and my soul in those moments 😉)
Ah yes, I feel like I understand the familiarity now, it's when we were kids... "those feelings" when we understood nothing and believed in so much. I guess I never "grew up" from feeling it.
To me the backrooms have no entities. And the poolrooms are just that. Poolrooms, with marble white tiles and lukewarm water. It's calm, peaceful. The entities, the horror, that's just stupid.
pools always had a very distinct feeling for me, indoor pools. the blue tiles are colored as though the blue water imposes all throughout the room. the water, calm and inviting; like a womb. it's almost as though the air in these rooms are imbued with the nature of water. this memory of water has always been special to me. it's comforting, knowing that i can find peace in any point of my life through such a medium
Oh my God. These are my exact thoughts. It's some of the biggest reasons why my job is pool cleaner. Indoor or outdoor, it's so satisfying to see pools and listening to this music makes it really fun.
I understand what you mean; I used to be in a competitve swimming club for four years as a kid, so seeing indoor pools is always nostalgic to me. So many memories of swim meets and years of swimming practice with friends, it was a great part of my childhood and this video is definitely reminding me of those days
When I was a kid often I had dreams about the poolrooms. Idk why but it fascinated me. That was in the 90s, and I dreamed about the layout of some of these poolrooms for some reason.
the coolest thing about the poolrooms is you could actually make it, there's nothing impossible about the architecture like some of the other backrooms spinoffs. I could imagine a themed pool somewhere slapping on a few tiled pillars and arches and some mood lighting.
It would be cool if anyone in the backrooms could enter the poolrooms at will and it would be a safe spot a resting peacefull place in the everchanging dimension
I often dream of scenes like this. A huge, chaotic swimming pool that seems to never end. There isn't a single person. It's so amazing that I can see this swimming pool while conscious.
I really recommend you to try this with earplugs on. Raise up a speaker volume a little bit. You feel like you're underwater with your face half below the surface. We all have once tried that relaxing spa experience.. that's it.
I often try to explain my love of liminal spaces to people. I just always have, ever since I was a kid. I didn't know it had a name but it was just that feeling of slight unreality caught between time and space. "That sounds a bit weird and creepy" is a comment I often hear and it is but it's also strangely peaceful and comforting. I'd happily hang out in the poolrooms for a while
this entire video - the various poolrooms, the music, the atmosphere, are all insanely soothing for me. i've had severe + persistent insomnia for over 20 years and have been fighting several chronic illnesses simultaneously since i was a child. listening to this and watching the video has somehow made all of that fade away and i'm falling asleep as i type this - with no sleep meds currently in my body. the only thing that could make this better is if there was an 8 - 12 hour version. looping it multiple times would be fine by me. i've saved this - along with other videos from your channel - to a playlist that i'll be using when i have to deal with flareups. with all that aside: thank you for making this.
I'm not sure I like the water sounds. I wish it was more ocasional echoes of single drops. Still water makes the pool rooms eerier, devoid of life. I don't know.
this is FANTASTIC! I would LOVE to see more backrooms ambience music! Honestly, I love liminal spaces, backrooms and all that aesthetic, but really, I'm sad that 99% of what comes out of this is stuff involving horror, sadness, loneliness, death and everything that's bad, there are so many interesting faces and atmospheres to look at, and this video is a great example of that! I love the terror and emptiness of the backrooms but there are levels and places that deserve different treatments

the smell of chlorinated water and the pale tiles.. this place seems to go on for miles and the weirdest part, it keeps changing.. it is our new home and we love it
Kinda going back to the pool, listening to this. I go everyday to an indoor pool and today I stayed two hours while the rain was falling and the wind blowing outdoor.

My brother and I would play my aunts PlayStation..it was a racing game,I don’t even remember what it was called. He’d pick the sports car and I’d pick… a front loader. Anyway we would always just end up driving out of bounds or trying to get onto buildings. I’m trying my best to piece the memories together, but i remember crashing into a vent or something and inside was a pool… a poolroom. What was the purpose of such a hidden room in a racing game? I’ll never truly know I do know I was meant to experience it.. for some reason I’ll never forget I’ve also dreamt of an underground complex of shallow pool rooms and hallways.. like the back room pool maze

Are you talking about the Backrooms poolrooms level or something irl because I don’t remember them tearing down at any point In the Backrooms concept lore at all..
@@SMOKEYS_LIT Yes I am talking about real life poolrooms. Back in the 70's and 80's there were poolrooms that looked a lot like these, though not as extensively large obviously. Whilst they were popular for a while they began to get a reputation for bad things happening and people simply stopped using them. Over time they were torn down or replaced with regular swimming facilities. One near me was replaced with a multi screen cinema. They were creepy, dirty and dangerous in the end. The reason a lot of people love-hate on these videos is because they get flashbacks to those horrible places their parents dragged them to as children.
what's the most interesting pool you've ever swam in? for me, it was a pool in a Washington DC hotel. it was a few floors above ground level and half indoor, half outdoor. The wall that divided the indoor half from the outdoor half went across the pool diagonally and had these tall windows to let the light in. It was low enough to mostly keep the heat in, but tall enough that you wouldn't hit your head if you paid attention. The feeling of getting in the pool indoors, going underwater, and being able to breach on the other side with a perfect view of the skyline is unique
One was in Tonopah Nevada at a motel. It was a totally normal pool except at the altitude where it was, it couldn't be made warm AT ALL even in the middle of July. And I remember being surrounded by those off-yellow desert rocks that Nevada has in spades.
I love poolrooms so much, I wish it were a real place that I could go to, I would spend all the day there exploring the space, relaxing with the water sound, I hope one day I can make it real

I've started to find indoor pools a bit fascinating. The warm water, fluorescent lights, blue/turquoise tiles and smell of chlorine give off a calming but unsettling feel tbh, at least for me. Once I was sitting next to the pool and no one was on it because the last person had just gotten out. The dead silence interrupted by some water droplets hitting the surface was eerie

I love the whole mix and the ambience, but i especially love the 1st track. It has a bit of 80's vibes, like synthwave or vaporwave. It reminds me of my childhood, even though i'm born in 1996 i grew up watching tons of 80's stuff. And it also reminds me a bit of the game Pocket Tanks that i played as a kid. There's a track called Fabric Of Time that has similar vibes.
The poolrooms is a weird one for me. I like pools, and I really like swimming. And I definately would rather be here than in the backrooms, but there's still a strong undercurrent (heh) of unease that means I'm never fully 'happy' with the idea of being here.

I'm going down to Calgary in January sometime and I already picked out the hotel Ima be staying at. It has a beautiful indoor heated pool area with jacuzzi and such. Can't wait. I know of what You talk about.
I am under a lot of stress from my situation I got bad dental problems have to get severe extractions removed and I'm afraid of dying from this situation I keep thinking I have bone pulled up from my mouth but the dentist claims it's mouth tartar. It appears music like this is calming me down I love Liminal Spaces real or not I keep wanting to think they do exist somewhere if the Poolrooms did exist and if there was no entities it would be a very peaceful place to stay an eternity in being inside some Aquatic heaven would be very nice.
@@1mg1fastfood This whole thing is messed up I had problems with toothpaste not actually cleaning my teeth. I clattered all of them down when I can't control it I only got a portion of my teeth left at the bottom where the tartar is. The dentist did say if I don't get it worked on I could get infected by it I'd rather at least go in and try to have it extracted we'll see what happens after January 13 if I get out of surgery.
@@1mg1fastfood This all happened during my childhood growing up I wish I never let this went out of hand half the cleaning non sense for dental never worked on me.
@@1mg1fastfood If I survive this dentist surgery I'm going to start working a lot and people will hire me and I won't have to worry about gum disease I don't even smoke and this happened. I remember biting down on a piece of chicken and got ahold of biting a hard bone and that's when my mouth went split I am hoping I didn't accidentally pull up hidden tartar underneath my gum he said it can look like bone but it's not I hope he's right and it's not my theory which is even more scary than tartar.
