We have used almost every potty patch available over the last 2 years and we love this system.. We use the real sod and rinse it every other day. We are not having any problem with odor but we bought the TURFtastic just in case we need it in the future.

Thanks for you feedback. What size is you dog? I was thinking it would be ideal for my dogs 30lbs and smaller. I think it might be great for my 45-50lb dogs to at least go pee pee on. Since they don't poop as much as potty. How does it wear? I would probably need to rinse daily with so many dogs.... Is yours in the sun? Real grass needs that right?! lol. I would think with the turf I could use something that smells fresh to mix with water to refresh.

I'm going to make this... except I'm going to increase the size 4 fold, more sprinklers, and drain it to a septic system I'm going to build just for the dog waste. The only part that will be a bit difficult to make & implement is my own timer system for the watering. I'm thinking I might use a raspberry pi and a cheap sprinkler valve system. Yay for projects with your kids!

I want one but I need a bigger one. I went from 1 stray to a stray and 5 puppies lol. I'm trying to keep all but 1 puppy (sadly someone in my family told someone she could have my FAVORITE puppy) so this would come in handy for the pups.

I love dogs my old boy he passed away long time ago I have two cats that never go outside because of the environment no don't want them to kill birds and whatever else yeah I decided that I was going to do the same thing and get a patch of their very own grass they love it my cats sit there in the sun and they think they really outside but they had their own grass it's amazing how it changes their behaviour.

this would work for small breeds but once your dog hits over 100lbs i think it will no longer work

I bought a cheap plastic sandbox/pool for kids shaped like a boat, put lots of holes in the bottom and a good layer of Leca Balls, then good soil and real grass seeds. Has to be on a porch where the water flows out and down the drain on its own, but it works! But when the grass died a bit over winter it started smelling sour. I'll see if I can get it back to life or not. But my home build cost me a fraction of the price =P

This is a great idea. My dog has been peeing on the fake “ pet turf “ for years. It never turns brown, And if you hose it off it just stays clean forever. I would say even with the sprinklers built-in you might need to hose it down once in a while. But the pet turf is awesome. Once your dog gets used to peeing on that you never have to change it like you would real grass. It’s a great product.

I live in the Rocky Mountains and have a small-ish dog. When we have our winter storms, the snow accumulations often reach over his head and it can be hard for him to do his business. We sometimes have to dig out a spot that he can manage and as we age it is getting hard to do. This might be a great relief to have one of these in a protected area on our porch. What a great idea - where can I buy one?

Well, evidently they are out of product but go to there website. I don't sell them. I think that it would be great. It might freeze the urine but you could take a bucket of hot water and Clorox from the shower to rinse it with. Let me know if you get something like this or what! Thanks!

I love this idea i have a rather particular pekingese thats really picky about where he goes potty. He hates wet grass,tall grass, mud, dirt and bugs anytime any of those things are present he will rush and use it on the sidewalk. This seems like the perfect investment for him! I have small dogs that live in my house, having wet paws due to the water rinsing they would leave paw prints all over my floors. I have been using ugodog so much better. it is made of plastic so I can dry it with paper towel after washing. been using it for 3 years now.

I love the porch potty ! I would love to have one for our little dog Sadie. We don't have a yard and it has been a problem with her injesting the disposable potty pads. I have her going on the fake grass on a tray but it needs to be cleaned- constantly- and smells up the place. Can't wait until your product comes on the market! Even though I am very limited financially, I would save up and buy it.KL

I don't get it. There is kitty litter, which masks the scent of poop. Just get a big $50 litter box for a dog and some kitty litter. Then there is a $300 thing of grass over a box sitting in someone's house that doesn't mask the awful scent of crap. People just have to deal with the visible poop with no litter masking it. If anything, this seems super messy. Just seems like the grass would get too gross, the under box would need to get sprayed clean, etc. I would just train the dog to poop outside for most days and train it to use a litter box when it's absolutely needed.

Unfortunately dogs just don't use litter boxes like cats. That would be awesome though!!! Dog owners know that when they walk a dog they have to pick up the poop every time anyway. So having poop bags next to the grass allows for quick easy pick up and then just rinse the urine. Spray grass with a disinfectant to refresh. There is no such thing as a completely self cleaning dog anything! lol too bad for us dog owners.....:(

I think dogs will be more likely to consume cat little (especially puppies) which obviously isn't going to be good for them. Natural grass is at least not toxic to them. Hence why we don't use cat litter for dogs.

This might "look amazing," but having seen two of these at the new indoor doggie facility in Detroit, let me tell you that it's not an effective idea. I took my dog in there and, because he's a little guy, I had to pick him up and set him on top. There he was, standing on a plastic square covered by wet artificial grass and expected to "do his business." He basically jumped down, stood in front of me and gave me a look that said, "I'll hold it." Go to the videos where the dogs are taught to use the toilet, and try that first.

It’s great but one bad thing is if it’s indoors then it starts to smell like urine even if you water or spray it with anti urine. I have 3. 2 outdoor 1 indoor.

Nice! But how likely is it the dog will try to dig a hole in the grass? Any testing on this? I'd hate to come home from work and find the grass shredded to bits all over the floor. Many dogs just like to dig holes for some mysterious reason.

If you water down dog urine on the grass as soon as they pee it won't be strong enough to hurt the grass. It could take a lot if water though.

No its so you can allow them to potty if your in an apartment without having to always walk them. It cleans the urine away all you have to do is pick the poop up.

Royal Diamond Labradoodles - there's an automatic litter box for cats that scoops up the clumpy urine, poop, and disposed of in a bag, if Im not mistaken about the bag part. Maybe the people/person who invented that for cats should invent something similar for dogs as well.

This is crazy! I live in an apartment, and have been thinking of getting a dog, and was thinking of building a sandbox of sorts with soil and grass where the dog could go. I just came up with this idea a few days ago myself, and now I find something like it. Is there a larger model though. I have a huge terrace, and would like to have something maybe 6 feet by 5 feet or something like that.

This would be perfect for my 5 cats. I have a dog, but she can go out into my acres of land and do her own thing, lol. This would illuminate all the work I have to do after my cats, and the ton's of freaking litter I have to buy, not to mention cleaning it 10 times a day.

This looks great, but my teething puppy would chew the wicker, hose, tray, sprinklers... and I'd probably come home to find the grass mat (and its contents) dragged all over the place and my dog happily snuggled inside it, eating it.
