Head out, enjoy the water and stay safe. Always wear your PFD and let others know where you're going. Remain within the limits of your equipment and skill set. For example don't try to paddle to Kangaroo Island on your brand new $200 Kayak 😂

Hey Tony, thanks for watching. I'm planning on doing a set up video. Just waiting on a few parts to arrive including some Yakattack gear from the States. I put together a pretty neat setup to install the Hobie sidekicks on the PA without drilling holes.

Great video Terry. We have an electric motor on our tandem as my shoulder is stuffed and the wife needs a new knee. FPV 50ah battery lasts easily on a 5 hour outing. We retired a few years ago and got back into fishing after a 30 year break. Watched loads of videos like you, as we'd never done much salt water fishing. We treat it as a bonus when we catch but always enjoyable regardless.
@kayakfishingins.a4327
@kayakfishingins.a4327 Год назад
Hi Kevin, that's great to hear the battery can last that long. I was impressed with the motor and the speed that it could push my barge along at. Yes you're 100% correct, just nice to be out on the water and its just a bonus to catch fish. Thank you for watching.

Great video love your perspective and honesty re fishing. Had to give up my old PA14 due to space looking forward to a new Outback. Very interested in how you set up the e motor. That would be worth a video in itself. Great channel

Thanks mate, I also have owned 2 newer Outbacks. My wife thinks Im crazy as Im now on my 9th Hobie. This is my second PA14 and yes you definitely need the storage space, more of a small boat than a large kayak haha!. The 2019 onwards outback is great with many features awesome features, Im just a bit more comfortable on the older Outback. My favorite has been the 2015-2018 Outback and the Revolution 13 (I will probably buy another one). I bought the motor setup as is but have already started to modify it and have replace the very rigid conduit on the motor. I'll do a setup video once more items that I ordered have arrived. Thanks for watching. Terry

Nice little video as ever Taz, and a cool setup. You’re right about your talk on “doing it tough”. I put out 2 videos this week but from the 4 trips 2 we’re not worth posting. Also 3 months ago I went out 6 consecutive times without enough footage to post. As you said that’s why it’s called fishing not catching. Just being out is good and has benefits🤙. Keep it up mate.

Yeah that's right mate, just being out there is great. I get peace and quiet out there. My job can be demanding so I really look forward to getting out and away from the difficult people I usually deal with (I do Security). Glad to know I'm not the only one doing it tough sometimes Ha-ha. Good on ya mate!

Looks like there is so much room for activities on the PA’s, I’d be keen to see how it handles some open water stuff. Thanks for sharing the story about not catching anything, I’ve been doing the same with your videos and Alex’s. Just trying to enjoy being out of the house and trying to live by the saying “a bad days fishing is still better than a good day at work”
@kayakfishingins.a4327
@kayakfishingins.a4327 Год назад
Hey Tyla, yeah exactly, don't let the bad days fishing put you off being out there on the water. We are pretty lucky to live near the coast with opportunity to head out on the water. The PA14 is ok in open water and I've made up a kit to fit the sidekicks to the PA as an insurance policy. It flat water they are super stable. I'm much better at reading the weather now and wont go out if its not going to be enjoyable and pretty flat. I did get caught out a couple of years ago in some big swell with my old PA14 that was a bit scary. Thanks for watching.

@@kayakfishingins.a4327 couldn’t agree more mate, not many people can take “the long way” home and drive 5 mins out of their way to do an espy run. I also hear you about the weather, I took a day off work the other week because I thought it was looking good and it ended up being pretty choppy with a decent swell, the fact I was out in those conditions with no other yaks or boats to be seen left me pretty uncomfortable! But I still stuck it out for a couple of hours. I’m keeping a lookout for something bigger than my $400 special 2.6m job at the moment so that I can go out in conditions that aren’t absolutely perfect myself, but I think a PA is a bit out of reach. As always, thanks for the tips and great content! Hope to run into you out there one day soon!

@@tylalander668 Mate when I first started out I was on a $250 used Dragon Kayak and thought I would never be able to afford my dream kayak (a used $2,000 2015 Hobie Outback). Fast forward two years later and I'm now on my 9th Hobie. Keep saving mate, you'll get there!

Hi Mate, thanks for watching and commenting. All I do is just stop and start the GoPro. I know some of the other larger RU-vid channels will have video continuously recording with big power banks attached to the camera. I must take them hours and hours to edit afterwards.

The zman plastics will melt if they are in a box with other brands of plastics...something about chemical reaction?
@kayakfishingins.a4327
@kayakfishingins.a4327 Год назад
Yeah you're right, I think its because they are super biodegradable but a little too much for me. They have even melted or become disfigured on me when left out of their original packaging.

Been looking at electric motors for a while myself thinking what manoeuvrability you'd get from front mounting since it would decrease snags on the prop
@kayakfishingins.a4327
@kayakfishingins.a4327 Год назад
This is the first time I've tried an electric motor and I was very impressed. The PA14 isn't super responsive and feels more like a small boat rather than a kayak. I have ordered a larger replacement rudder to help with the maneuverability. Having the motor up front is definitely much easier when you need to clear a snag on the water. Thank you for watching.
