The Portrait of a Lady Official Trailer #1 - John Malkovich Movie (1996) HD 

i saw this film as a youngster and struggled with it. But it has improved in my mind over time and I now regard it as a great favourite. I think this has a lot to do with Nicole Kidman's luminous performance as Isobel Archer which anchors the film and sends it on its far from uncomplicated narrative journey. Kidman's undeniable beauty is more than matched by her acting chops and you can sense her relish in attacking what is clearly a great dramatic part. Barbara Hershey more than keeps up with this formidable pace and is quite simply brilliant at portraying the inherent conflicts and tensions at the heart of Madame Merle's life. The film is back on the big screen at the BFI in London in April and I don't think I can miss it.

They don't make trailers anymore where they show the actors starring in it as they state their names It's too bad

This movie is so gorgeous. Nicole Kidman is beautiful in this, with less makeup and she acted superbly. Love it.

The movie had me from the beginning. I hung on every word. However , I regret it. This is one of the very few times I did not look up the ending first because I was sick and just wanted to watch something to occupy my mind. If I had pre approved the ending as I usually do, I would never have wasted my time watching it. Makes me wonder what inspires a person to spend valuable time creating something just to crush it for all it is worth. I wish I had that kind of time to waste. On a different note, the acting was fantastic.

If you liked this film, James' "The Wings of the Dove" was also made into an intelligent film, with Helena Bonham-Carter.

Didn't know James' book had been filmed. Must check the library system for it.

Usually when actor's and actresses do a certain thing over and over in their acting, that's their trademark, that's who they are and this girl makes damn sure she has scenes where she's acting like a hussey, Jezebel,skank and anything else disgraceful as a woman it never fails in every movie except maybe 1 or 2,is that her strong suit?
