I bought this drone based solely on your review and so far it's been great! Initial setup was easy and the video quality is excellent. I flew in moderate wind and had no trouble with stability. I'll let you know I flew the ATOM in its max wind capability and the gimbal began to vibrate from what the video feed was showing, and I was getting warnings about the wind speed. I returned home from over 2,500ft with basically zero video feed in strong winds. Gimbal went back to normal once I was close enough to lower down and experience less wind.

@@DroneSlingers Do you know if the wind was above 24mph? That's what Level 5 translates to. The higher you go, the more wind there is vs. what's on the surface.

@@user-fm6gc4em3q I'm thinking the control frequency is 2.5ghz as when any time I'm connected to 2.5ghz WiFi I get bad connection issues. As soon as I turn off WiFi or switch to a 5ghz WiFi connection the drones connection to the controller becomes normal again

I received mine about 4 weeks ago and have been having a blast. I have a part 107 and have taken it up to 1500 feet within a 400' envelope of structures in my city. I purchased a pair of 2.4 ghz yagis which improve reception and range by about 25%. Yesterday's firmware update significantly improved night video, removing much of the noise apparent at 4k resolution. The update also improved video transmission stability at range. I feel that your comment about compass calibration is incorrect. Beyond the drone requiring compass calibration relatively frequently, it's also a good idea to calibrate the compass before every flight no matter what. Don't risk a flyaway. I get around 1.5-2k range because I fly in one of the largest cities in the world and there is a lot of frequency competition. I flew in the path of a microwave dish at 650' and immediately lost the connection. Return to home works as advertised.

Wait a minute - can you point me to where you got these yagis and how you attach them to the controller? As a ham radio guy I'd be having a lot of fun with something like that (although portability may suffer).

@@chipsawdust5816 I have come across DIY Yagi Antennas on the net b4. Some builds are easier than others. Also there are 2.4ghz Yagi antennas with a 25 dbi claimed gain on Amazon for under $30 U.S. each.

Accuracy of RTH, before you take off, if you wait for a greater number of GPS satellites to be found, the accuracy of RTH is far greater. So don't take off immediately with 6 (whatever the min is), wait another minute until the number goes up.

Really helpful video. I bought the Atom based on a review and havent been disappointed. Ridiculously easy to operate. The 30 fps is the NTSC setting so I'll have to reduce to 25 fps as I'm in the UK and PAL is 25 fps and Power Director 13 works on 25 fps. My drone lands within 2 feet of the landing pad which is pretty good. The three batteries are great for the beginner (like me) to allow familiarity with flying and drone features. Like you, I'd highly recommend the Atom.

Well done video -- THANKS! In the waypoint function, does the software allow altitude increase or decrease between waypoints? Also, does that function allow setting a radius (curved path) when navigating the corners of a waypoint pattern (for a smoother video transition)?

Excellent review Steve. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen something worthy of a buy and after looking at the video I agree with everything thing you’ve said about it. It might be the best consumer mini drone released right now. Other brands that make consumer drones should learn a thing or two from Potensic. When you make a product that works as it’s supposed to and over delivers then it’s a no brainer. Thanks for taking the time out to review it. 👍🏻👍🏻

Thats a really nice drone...i have the potensic D85,had it for 4 years now and with the 5g around here it wont connect to my wifi,nor to the drone which sucks cause i have 3 batteries and cant use it...does that have obstacle avoidance?? Maybe u covered it?? And what about the wifi needed?? I know im gunna have to upgrade to a new phone if i want a DJI drone,hear they only do 5g as well?? Thats man good review...as always...still wanting some stickers....🙏🙏🙏🙏🥴

Great review Cap. If I didn't already have the Mini, Mini 2 and Mini 3 Pro, I'd buy it! It looks like a really great little drone for the price! About time the budge drones start competing with DJI. I bought this drone based on an earlier review by "someone else" and have been very happy with it. I have not been able to get the follow me and other Quickshots to work, but Potensic has been very good with support and they're working through it with me. I bought a DJI Mini 2 SE first because it's - famous, I guess, and highly recommended. And maybe it would've been my drone except - it never got off the ground. DJI said send it back for exchange. Since I bought it on Amazon I just sent it back. This one with the Fat More was only $40 more then the DJI bare-bones kit. I've had a lot of fun with this. I did get the Fly More because it's just such a good deal (price has gone up 5% since I bought it). This is my first drone so I'm still learning how to fly smoothly, but it's coming along. I take it on trips, take it to work - you never know when you might just like to see something from the air :) This morning there was a firmware update and that went seamlessly even though I wasn't on wifi, just cell phone (AT&T pseudo-5G).

Nou 130 kilometer per uur . Vind ik wel geweldig. ik heb ooit een Traxxas Rusler had eerst een Elektro motor en erna een Hpi Motor in gebouwd deze had ik nog ergens liggen grotere tandwiel op gezet. Ging ook behoorlijk zelfnog harder met de 11 volt lipo hing nog harder. Hou alleen rekening mee . Dat alles goed blijft werken vooral remmen. De snel heid van je Traxxas vind ik toch super geweldig . Leuke video. Veel succes met je Traxxas 💪😃👍🛻🚘👍👍👍👍

In particular I am interested in: 1. what is video bitrate at 4K 30 fps 2. can it shoot photos in RAW format, like DNG or similar If you know answers to these questions and could share them, that would be great.

I got rid of my DJI drone and just started using Potensic. I had issues with “RC not connected to mobile device” and “unauthorized fly zones” which made me hardly fly it. Potensic was always ready and hasn’t giving me any issues. I’ll be buying another one soon.

I’m guessing it works with cell phones that don’t have a compass. If it would not work then the App wouldn’t install, so try downloading & installing the App.

I too bought this drone based on your review. I have not opened the box yet so I’m hoping it is all you have said it is in Your review. I also have a DJI Mavic Mini (Gen 1) that I just finally got flying again as when I purchased several years ago I immediately got it stuck in a tree and after waiting a couple of month for it to come down I was afraid to fly it again so there it sat since my first calamity. I don’t know why (maybe your review on this drone) I guess I thought that if I screwed up again it wouldn’t cost as much a the Mini did? You have quite a responsibility in your reviews as like the other guy commenting before me (you are the “Go To Guy” on Drones ie most believable:) Keep up the good work.

In metrics, they should add km/h . m/s takes some calculating and here in the EU we all are used to km/h.. cars.. motors etc all do km/h. For English/Amerikan users i recomment Miles/h .. and not ft. Hight should stay Meters and ft .. But i see this problem on most drones. And i would love to get my hands on one of these Atom drones... Good review !!

I’m a mini 4 pro (& 3 Pro) pilot myself, but if I didn’t own a drone I’d certainly be tempted. It looks fantastic for the price.. but I would also look at the DJI mini 2 SE. - both look similar and the Mini 2 SE isn’t much more in price. Cheers, Steve

I bought a Mini 2 SE and it never got off the ground. DJI support had me go through all sorts of laptop gyrations with their software to wake it up but it never connected with the controller. They said send it back for another; I bought it on Amazon so just returned it. That's when I decided on the Atom, which with the fly more kit was only like $40 more than the basic Mini 2 SE kit. Plus the DJI, I learned later, has geofencing which may be a good thing but I can make my own decisions about that.

I always remove the micro SD card because often it is much too slow plugging a usb cable into the drone and attempting file transfer (if it even works)

Nice review ! Im looking for my first drone and just found this drone and the atom se. The atom se seems interesting, a fly more combo costs only 30$ less than the standard pack atom (non se ) Which one do you think its better ? Considering fly more pack vs no fly more. I notice especially that the atom has more flying modes and 3 axis gimbal vs 2 axis on the se Also between these and a dji mini 2 se or 3 ? The dji mini 3 costs a lot more Thank you !!

In the drone world the letters “SE” refer to “less technology” so the ATOM SE is not going to give you the same results as the ATOM I showed in this video.

I do not have the SE say can’t say, but when it comes to side to side movements or tracking, a 3 axis gimbal is best.

Would you recommend this over a RUKO U11 Pro?...we are mostly interested in way point navigation and the ability to move the camera while traveling to the next waypoint ...thank you SOOOO much for actually mentioning that yaw breaks you out of camera control ... only up and down are allowed ... I haven't found anyone mentioning that anywhere!!

😮hello Steve, captain drone,wow,that's a really good drone sn flyer for the price even fly more combo on Amazon is like 300.00 plus shipping an like 30 dollars if you choose a two year protection plan,I'll definitely be looking to getting this little drone,I so want a DJI but those are so out of my price range other than the mini 4 pro but for more of the combo,it can be still quite expensive

Love this drone, nothing to envy DJI and better price. I just got it. I used a Holy Stone HS720E which I still have. The one thing I noticed is that if I don't use it for few days maybe a week, the batteries get depleated, also in order to see the videos or pictures I have to remove the SD card and put it on my phone, not sure if maybe is me. Does it return home if battery is running low? Thanks for yor video!

The batteries, if left unused, have a safety to self discharge. Most drones are designed to take the MICRO SD card out and stick it in your computer. Those people who wish to record on their phone simply screen record the low resolution image. If battery is low it returns to home... look at the top of your phone screen when flying and you'll see if it is nearing low battery return to home mode.

Does it limit the signal in europe just as dji does depening on where you use it? Fcc. IV heard this is not that good on range due to signal problems.

They are both really good. Fimi has more autonomous features. Cameras are pretty much the same. The Potensic is a better experience for first time drone users (very helpful for beginners to get started).

Thank you for your fast response! Interesting, because in many reviews the Fimi had a slight Blurring at the edges of the shots which has something to do with the optics. And I saw that the software on the potensic is just much cleaner und smoother experience working without any bugs. But the most Crucial argument is that the potensic has RAW Photo taking mode which I love! To be honest I am new to the drones world but I am really familiar with photography, that is why I wanted a drone to get some new perspectives you know?

Hey Steve, how are you doing? Hope all is well with you and your family. So I took your recommendation and purchase the Potensic Atom I just didn’t purchase it from the link you provided as I didn’t see it but I have a good news. You said it would take about three weeks to come and I already received it so thanks again for that… I would like you to recommend me more I guess a drone that has all the goodies under 250 g for my girlfriend doesn’t have to be top-notch just reliable maybe something that still on sale ... So it doesn’t have to be as good as the atom I just purchased and I guess in the ballpark of about $200-$250 Thanks Steve I really do appreciate everything you do ..
