Just left my husband of 7 years tonight. Packed up my belongings and left my beautiful home. I took me and my daughters to another state back with my family. I haven't shed one tear. I've been done with him for a long time. The Lord has given me peace and has helped numb my heart. We were unequally yoked and he was emotionally, verbally, and spiritually abusive. I told him thank you for being the person u were so I can be the woman I am today. I wished him the best and told him I'm not for him. I am not afraid to be on my won because that is a million times better than being in a toxic relationship which eats you up from the inside out. I told him before I dumped him - I am not that weak. He didn't know what to do. He was a messed up person.

I was raised not to allow someone to treat me bad. I am to love myself more. And I do. I am in my 50's, and it gets easier. I left my ex husband and a house. A lot of people talked about me but I said "I can get me another house. My peace of mind is more important." The Lord allowed me to have another house built. Our strength comes from the Lord. I walked away many times but would go back when I was weak. Two months ago I left for good. In the beginning I cried in my car every day praying, “God I still love him.. I still love him.” It hurt so much. Now I am starting to heal and I’m signing up for classes and excited to learn some new skills so I’m more useful to my community and loved ones. It still hurts when I remember him a few times a day… but it’s getting easier.

I walked away after 22yrs and it's still hurtful. I took my kids and bought a house without him. He was devastated and went into a mild depression. Hated me for leaving and taking his kids and throwing away the life we built. I still ponder going back, because I truly understand how we need to preserve black families. At times, I feel guilty at times...during holidays, out grocery shopping alone, events big and small we spent together. However I have a newfound peace..no arguing, anxiety, insecurities. I'm going through this right now. I've been in a relationship with the father of my kids for 10 years now, no marriage and this is the biggest red flag for me. My love for him is what's kept me here fighting to make it work, but spiritually we are not on the same page. I've tried praying with him, reading Gods word with him but its not what he wants and thats what's leading me to walk away, but its hard. I'm thinking about a family being broken, being a single mum not to mention I'm also expecting. But he isn't a partner. He works and thats about it, I have no support emotionally,mentally, spiritually and God is telling me to look at his actions. This is so true! The hardest thing I had to do was walk away from a toxic relationship four years ago. In that moment, I could see that if I stayed it was going to get worse. Then the gaslighting came. He told me to stop being silly and to come back upstairs. I stuck to my guns and waiting on my Lyft ride to the airport and never looked back. I walked away 2 weeks ago from my husband with a 9 year old, 2 year old and currently 5 months pregnant . He abused my son and is now in jail facing some serious charges . This is definitely my time to HEAL I’ve been in this toxic environment for years. I choose me and my children ! I will not be seeing him for a very long time! Such a brave lady and mom. You are my roll model now. I totally understand you with each one of my body cells. I left my husband after 30 years. I walked away after 17 years. It was the hardest thing - it’s still hard but I’m 235 pounds lighter. My daily prayer is I don’t want to be bitter I want to be better - I forgive him and I forgive myself - help me make better choices and be open to love. My husband was a great provider but also an emotional abuser. My soul couldn't take it anymore. This is definitely hitting home, I just walked away from a toxic man and relationship after almost two years. He was cheating and I was clueless, for he hid it very well. It can be so hard but don't let him suck you back in. Be aware that he will try to get back in your life. My advice is to keep a journal of the messed up things he said and did, with exact quotes of his when he was verbally abusive. When you miss him, or are having a moment of weakness for him, read through that journal so you'll remember exactly why you left and why you need to keep away from him. Once you get away from an abusive man, maintain zero contact!

Walking away from a man who will never be capable of loving a woman the way she desires, the way she deserves, and the way she needs to be loved as he's ever unwilling couldn't be bothered to try to learn -even at the cost of the unbearable pain in her heart, mind, body, and soul as it is very hard to move on that easily because of how much she is truly, madly, deeply in love with him, definitely hits her the hardest, especially that the feelings aren't mutual. But regardless. Her final detachment from her feelings about him is the best decision she could ever do in her own favor and her right to do so as she has no other choice but to kill all the feelings and emotions she has for him who isn't even worthy, to begin with. It took me 20 years of abuse to walk away because I didn’t think I could provide for myself. I thought if I walked away I would go back to poverty. But God! I put myself through school earning 3 degrees! While I walked away, sometimes like the Bishop said if we are not careful we will find ourselves connected with the same in another pair of shoes. Even though he’s a drug addict and relapsed in his addiction for 3-4 years and watches porn, it’s very hard to be sure I’m doing the right thing by leaving. I’m trying to bring separation now and he’s calling me the abuser and him the victim. I do believe both of us are toxic and I’m getting help with a prayer mentor for inner healing, but it’s still hard for me to be strong and know I’m worthy of being with someone who’s not on drugs and who’s faithful. It will be a year he left on my birthday and I haven’t seen him since then. The Divorce was final May13,2022. Out of nowhere he called me the first week of January 2023. Checked on me ask about the grandchildren just to tell me he was in welding school at the age of 57, probably still living at home with his mom! 23 years I knew from the first week and I had false hope! Everything and everybody was more important than me. I walked away after 43 yrs and had never thought about leaving. Being devalued for many years, I finally left. He didn’t protest me leaving or fight for me to stay, he just let me go. That was more assurance that I was doing the right thing. At that time it didn’t matter, my mind was made up! I am 73 now, and it’s been 9 years since I left. I finally realized that you are NEVER too old to choose “YOU”. I was lonely with him, and now I’m still alone, but at peace without him! 🤗. I also have been battling this situation. Been in a toxic marriage for 18 years and I'm tired. Marriage counseling 2 therapists didn't work, date night, etc. Just constant bickering over nothing and I'm leaving March 1st. Constantly fighting everyday is hard, depressing, stressful. We definitely weren't equally yoked but he tried forcing it for years. We have had major fights in public never physical but it has been bad. I just turned 39 and gave this man 19 years of my life no more.

@Tati B, take the step sister. You’re still young and can find someone who deserves you. Wait till you get completely healed and have processed the mistakes made in your choosing your partner . Dignity and self respect , values, self esteem must come first in a relationship for it to last. Also boundaries are VERY IMPORTANT ! You can do it, sis. The Lord, and listening Pastor Blake’s messages will help so much . Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance , dwell in the Word of God and His promises. I knew I needed to walk away from my husband. The immaturity, the narcissistic behavior of gaslighting. Blaming, lack of respect, serial cheating, manipulation and lying was beyond harmful. The fights got physical and I got hurt. I left him, the State, the BS marriage and have reclaimed my life! I’m DONE!!! Never looking back! Never want to speak or hear from him again! He was NEVER a good man! Never a good person- he was an AMAZING actor!

I just went through this and it felt like the very thing I wanted most I had to let go of which was a spouse and a family. It felt like my cross I had to bear because it was like emotional death to let go of that dream. But God has to get us alone to give us what we should inherit to make us whole before another person can come into our lives. 🙏❤️ It was a stronghold but I’m grateful God is delivering me from this need and showing me I’m still doing fine.

I finally walked away from a relationship that I thought was my forever. I went silent and I’m locked in with god and myself!!! Once I took that energy off him I was able to love on me more and realize I was being treated like an option. When you go no contact and silent that’s your super power!!!! I was married 30 years to a Narc and my children refuse to have any contact with their father. My daughter is 31 and I have a son 33 and the oldest is 43. We will Not tolerate his psychological , mental or emotional abuse any longer. I will have been divorced from him 5 years in May. @@keepthechange1 I didn’t know what was happening because he was in the love bombing stage for a long time. My daughter is the one that looked up some of her dad’s traits and NPD came up. I never thought that a person could be so deceptive. He was also a pastor , we ran a ministry, To tell you the truth he held that mask up for a long time. We were just a pretend family making him look normal.🤦🏽‍♀️ Thank God it’s over!🙌🏽

16:09 I’ve never read this story with this perspective! I am currently going through a tough time. I left my ex last January right after literally giving birth to our second son. Never did I believe this self proclaimed man of God would be such a toxic force in my life! I left with my newborn, my toddler, no job, no money and no clue what I would do. Depressed and empty I knew that fulfillment and peace was on the other side and once I believed that God stepped in and has continuously made a path for me and my boys! I am so thankful God has changed my heart and life. This narcissist is still haunting me but this time I know I’m protected and I have the right tools to overcome any of his fiery darts! Ladies! Learn to love the sound of your feet walking away from the things not meant for you! God does not want you living a miserable life!!

Everytime I hear a similar story my heart breaks. I know several women just off the top of my head, who stayed in relationships from their 20-40's and the guy never married them. We stay wayyy too long.

It's easy to get trapped, especially if we haven't created our standards, acknowledged our personal values and boundaries. You Are Absolutely Right!! I Was One of The Ones Who Walked Away Over 7 Years Ago. I Walked Away From Verbal Abuse,Physical Abuse,Disrespect, Adultery, Devaluation, Demanding Behavior.
