Source? Because when I googled it I got these 2 definitions. A high performance model of automobile. GT stands for gran turismo, or "grand touring." Although the Italian who originally thought up the term gran turismo, or GT, has been lost to history along with their reasoning, the definition was clear: A GT car fit between a sports car and a luxury car.
@@midnightdeluxegaming6582 A GT basically means a car that can go for long tours (in the name Grand Touring) in the utmost capability, with utmost comfort, utmost practicality, utmost speed. Now we use GT to throw around as a high performance version of something, but traditional definition would call that a sports car, which also got lost in definition through out history as sports cars now represent anything... well, "sporty" when in fact Sports Cars were a more literal term back in the day, as cars for actual sport, in this case motorsport. As time goes by the line between these two classes of cars get more blurred. Both are fast, but serve two different purposes, GT is for the person that wants to go on a tour, go fast when he wants to, but in a posh manner, while a Sports Car is when someone wants to go to the track, rattle their brains out feeling everything in the car to shave time lap after lap.
