You already know habits are important. Here's how to set "triggers" to keep them. This was filmed at my writer's villa, answering your questions without notes or script as usual. Complement this with a copy of my book High Performance Habits: amzn.to/2dLe24X

Love this 😊🖒 My mum explained something like this to me from when I was young. Single working parent and before she came through the door each evening she would remind herself who was in the house, why and how important that was to her and to leave the tired day stress behind and enjoy that. When she told me this I realised it was a perfect way to interact with my Husband so each night when I pull up at home I remind myself who's in the house and how much more important that is than the stressful day I may have had etc. Totally going to bring this into my day now and I'm going to start with the office door 😊🖒

Trigger moment: set timer for 15 minutes as soon as i start eating. Making sure to take the full 15 mins to eat. Once 15 minutes is up, leave everything and go upstairs immediately. Take 10 slow deep breaths and notice level of fullness, and any positive or negative feelings. Go back downstairs when ready.

Short and Useful as always. You gave me a new perspective to see my prays throughout the day. I always was wondering why God asks us to pray five times a day, as you mentioned maybe one purpose of that is to make a trigger for us. I sometimes become lazy and pray all of them together once a day but actually we should pray on sunrise, noon, afternoon, sunset and night. Each pray takes just five minutes and when I pray them as I should, I feel calm, peaceful, fresh and full of energy after that. Now I can see why... THANK YOU BRENDON.

All right, I'll tell mine - it's gonna include Tony Robbins, sorry, Brendon, we still love you :-) I used to hate running, and I think 4km was the longest run in my life ever. So, while running, I decided to listen to Tony Robbins tapes, which I really enjoy listening to! So it went on and on, my running was improving... And then one particular day I was feeling really tired and didn't want to run, so I thought "All right, I'll just listen to TR tapes, maybe they will help". And once I started listening - no kidding - my brain went "Dude, get your !@"£ing shoes on and start running!" I literally went from 0 to fully excited for a run with just this simple trigger! And now, in two weeks, I'll be running my first ever half-marathon. So, this stuff definitely works, just try it! :D

One of my trigger is to thank life for 3 things I am grateful for upon waking up (I do not allow myself to get off of bed until it is done!) as well as drinking my glass or water with a few drops of lemon essential oil to gently cleanse and energize. Then I am ready for meditation! Thank you Brendon i will definitely add more triggers such as the door frame one in my life!

It's amazing how certain things "show up" not by accident. It's a glorious late spring morning here in Asheville with the French doors open to sweet sunshine and cool steady breeze. Damn, life os good today. it's also Sunday morning which can be fertile ground if I so choose it to be. As I was deep into my very much attentive ceremony of frying bacon I had a CLEAR thought regarding a personal growth idea. "Why don't I just set affirmations and goal reminders in my phone calender everyday to help keep me focused." Literally 10 minutes later I "stumble upon" this clip! I mean what are the odds...? I have no choice now but to accept this little grace crumb and embrace a new effort and commitment to more consistent positive HABITS.

Hi Brendon. I am 13 and I find your videos extremely inspiring. I sometimes believe that you are God in disguise sending us messages to be happy in our lives, how to control our lives and hearing you really makes me think again as to how I should frame my future. How to pursue my goal in life. I hope to be as successful as you and my parents are. The triggers that i believe will help me are to be attentive, enthusiastic and bit serious. I hope you reply to my message. If you have some time please help me set up my future. Thanks.

Thank you Brendon. I only stumbled across one of your videos recently and already, your simple, straightforward, believable (if I may) style and approach are a breath of fresh air. I've already set up a reminder to block out my day; 50 minute reminders to get up, hydrate and stretch, and now thinking about triggers. Recently, after I arrived home in a funk from a long day at work, my 12 year old son said to me: "Dad, you always come home and start telling me to do this and that without even saying hello." Wow, that was like a punch in the stomach. Next focus for me: Doorframes and settng intentions for home and office.

Great video! We sometimes seek complex solutions for simple problems when making small changes can have such a big difference! I used to do something similar called emotional verbalization, where I would set a reminder on my phone to go off throughout the day & when it did I would verbalize my emotional state & work back as to how I got into that state. It was great to understand the full range of emotions & learn how to maximize the good ones & minimize the bad ones!

About 3 years ago I moved to Tampa from Miami to get away from my family and as well from my Ex who was living with me at the time and making me feel miserable. I wanted to move to find who I truly am. I tell you, moving to Tampa was not an easy transition. I went to jail a few times because of my driving records and it was down-down the hill afterwards. I was miserable while I was in school as well as trying to find a job in this new city I found myself in. Seriously things was just not turning out my way. I was depress, I was out of money, I was failing my classes, I tell ya, I was in a Hugh deep well of depression. fast tracking to the beginning of 2015. I had just lost a job but I felt relief after I got my car back, that's when I took on to the little concept of affirmations. it was a slow process but I made it out of that Well of depression. in short, now people love me, people dread to hang out with me and I just see myself achieving more goals and living my dreams and it feels good knowing things are changing around by affirming positive things to myself...these words changed me from inside outward ("I am love" I am great, I am Unique, i am Favour, i am happy....). now I tell people it's not what you do is what you tell yourself on a daily basis that turns out to be what you do. Words are powerful. #Iam

Brendon, This was awesome (as is your book--MM--as are your other videos...)! I am a physical therapist (28 yrs!) and have been teaching this trigger concept for years!! The timer aspect for getting sitters off their hinies and the doorway concept for reminders to do single leg stand or other exercises... I started watching and reading because I am battling some insecurity about opening a private cash-based practice (which I AM doing!!!)--I would get jazzed by listening to folks who had been there, but then get frightened by my own demons... Thanks for your generous sharing of beautiful and important concepts!!! This and other posts are helping me remain motivated and determined!!!!

We used to have pets at home and they completely changed the mood of my family and consequently positively affecting our communication toward our family members. Of course, I already knew that pets add/bring joy to families. But after watching this video, I understood "why" finally. My pets were a essentially a "trigger" for me to calm myself and refocus on whats important, when otherwise when I got mad, i would go off. Even though I would reflect later on how I reacted and wanted to take initiative to do something different, in the heat of the moment, there was nothing to remind me of my intention. I came to reflection when this video reminded me of the distinction of what it was like when I used to have pets before (sadly they passed away) and the time in between to when I have a pet again (am currently fostering :))

Good video Brendon, thanks. This is just a small example of how I know triggers work. When my son was in school, I used to save bread tags for the school. As soon as the loaf of bread was done (the trigger) I would save the tag in a dish on top of the fridge. I did the habit consistently. My son has been out of school a couple years now, and I still do it, can't seem to stop. Now to apply this to something to help me in my life.

It helped me get more conscious about my personal goals and how I related to others. Best part, I recognized the growth in me and once I hit a plateau, I changed the words. How simple and so smart!!!!! I just literally set alarms for my new morning routine Each 1/2 hour an alarm is set to help me stay on track. I never downloaded special rings before but this is inspiration to match the action! Game on 2019!
