I've been wanting to make more tutorial videos. I'm still experimenting with what I want to do, but every now and then I just try something.
In this case this video is based on questions I've been getting from my students about the Montis, Goudsmit & Directie song " R U In Love " and what I do in my organ solo.
I basically play D Minor Pentatonic scale throughout the whole chord progressions, even though sometimes I add some other things.
Anyway,
Let me know what you think and what else you feel I could talk about in future videos.
You can find the song on Spotify or any other streaming service and RU-vid of cours.
Enjoy.

You can us on Spotify too or any other streaming service for that matter.

Could you make a lesson on using double stops or hitting multiple notes during a solo. Like what scale degrees sound nice together over what chords. Some tricks would be very helpful.

That’s a pretty good idea for a vid. Thanks. For now I can say that using either the root note of the key that I’m in works well, other than that stacked fourths or sixths usually work well. And there’s a lot more of course.

Love this song Frank!! I would love see a chart for the head. Are you using Trillian bass for live shows? Love to know how your getting such great contemporary bass sound. Please tour in the US with M G D. Pete in California.

Hi Pete, I don’t have a chart but when I decide to make it I’ll let you know. The bass sound is coming from my organ, live I use the Xk-5 on a Leslie 3300. When a Leslie is connected you can send out the / a bass sound through the line out to a bass amp. Love that feature ! And we would love to tour in the US too!

Are you able to bypass the volume pedal in your bass settings? Your bass sound, when playing with MGD, always sounds so punchy & consistent . Always dynamic and present .. I hardly ever hear it being effected by your expression pedal. (no drop outs).. In my opinion, yours is truly the best bass tone of any modern era OGD group that Ive heard. It gives your trio a fresh modern vibe. I have the same equipment as you, but I need to send the first 2.5 octaves of my lower manual to a synth module via midi and blend it in just to come close your unique bass sound. I then send the synth bass tone to a separate bass amp.( Bergantino with 12" cab) sitting on top of my 3300. Yep !! Im doing my best to steal from you :-) In the meantime, I will experiment with the 3300 line out. I have a friend here in CA who is a very popular and successful jazz DJ , OGD concert promoter and podcast host. I will be working on getting the 2 of you connected. Cheers Frank...your playing is a huge inspiration. Pete
