C-5 pilot here. I know it's DCS, but the comfort and camaraderie I feel toward my fighter friends feels extra real seeing the raptor wipe out those flankers like that. Fun stuff.
Other escort fighters: "We just need to get in and get out, hopefully nobody pulls up on us." F-22: "Well it seemed like a waste to fly all the way out here just to fly back, so I killed everything I saw." Love you GS
2:39 “Obviously the Japanese do not want nuclear capable bombers anywhere near their islands” I would trust their opinion, given that they are the only ones who have had the pleasure of sampling that particular scenario brought to fruition.
13:10 i love seeing the raptor pivot in a turn. you can see the nose and tail spin around the center axis. it's amazing. it's like in those su 57 air show vids, except raptors actually get to fly and train instead of rusting in a hanger.
Raptors also exist in meaningful numbers, have modern avionics, are actually stealth and can fly without exploding mid air and crashing due to catastrophic engine failures. The SU-57 should have never been built. It is an abomination. After India exited the PAK-FA program, Russia should’ve taken the L and admitted that they don’t have the knowledge or funds to build a fifth gen fighter by itself. Instead they did what Russia does every time they “develop” something new. They took a Soviet platform, the SU-27, made it look more modern, put some western technology in it, vastly overstated its capabilities and called it a day. The result is an SU-27 with a bodykit that relies on technology from Russia’s sworn enemies. Lovely!
The dogfights are badass, but I freakin love these “mission” or “scenario” videos. It gives an amazing insight to what modern air combat is like. Everyone know about the Spitfires shooting down 109”s, but very few understand how totally different and sci-fi esc fighting in a plane is today
Full agreement on all of the above! It's incredible when we back off mentally and abstractly observe that in roughly a hundred years, we went from firing pistols at each other in airplanes to launching mystical arrows of fire beyond the curvature of the earth... ...majestic and horrific, the things mankind does.
Every time he shoots down those flankers so close together, I like imaging the pilots landing next to eachother and just like “what the heck was that?”
C5's *are* huge. It's super impressive watching them land because the size to speed ratio is just a little bit..off..so it it looks like they're hanging in mid air
I really appreciate takin care of the C5!!! My Uncle is currently serving in the USAF and he used to fly the the C5 Galaxy. Now he flies the KC46 Pegasus. Love it man!
Another great mission. Not that I expect anything less these days. It's the addition of a storyline that makes the difference. Long may you patrol the skies. ❤😊❤😊❤😊
I was in the USAF back in the 70s and used to watch C5s land at Tinker AFB. It was amazing how slow they look when landing, they just hang in the air or it looks like that. They are so large the slow landing speed looks like a crawl. It would have been great if the C5 had waggled its wings in gratitude when you came along side. Please do more of these kind of videos must more interesting than the usual duel, at least for me. Reminds me of a Tom Clancy book.
I never served, but I grew up on USAF bases in the 70's and saw a lot of C-5s myself (and saw/walked through a bunch at the base open house events). Agreed that the C-5s looked like they were suspended in the air on a string, and the turbine whine was *very* distinctive.
I've been on MANY a C5s since I was a kid (Father Space Command) then as a "grown up" Kid (12 years Army Aviation Assault) These things are HUGE! Flew to Iraq in them a few times. They always break down in Rota Spain and for some reason the ENTIRE bar scene just off the base knows the crews by name....... Hummm I've flown on C5s, C141s, C17s, C130, C whatever that thing was that I can't remember the name of. C5 is still my favorite.
I have walked through the cargo bay of the C5 Galaxy. More than once. It’s like walking through a tunnel. It is huge! Several large buses could comfortably fit inside.
You're killin it my dude! Love watching your vids like this! The best part is that it's just you having fun and doing what you do. This vid had an attention grabbing story, plenty of action, and like the comments say " Priceless commentary". Good job GS (fist bump).
You are upping the quality and watchability these days (not that the old was bad, these are just more interesting to me)! I look forward to your videos every evening as a fun way to unwind. The F22 doesn't seem to have to fear much except running out of missles.
Hell yeah those C5's are huge! I was dog handler stationed at Wright-Pat and we used to play football with the maintainers in the back of those things lol.
GS I love your commentary “ you ok buddy?” Like how I talk to my cat after he stressed out about something….lol good stuff…keep making the vids and I”ll keep enjoying them!!
Truly awesome to watch these mission videos. And soo scinematic, I keep imagining this like a movie in the cinema. That C5 resque was so cool to watch.
Sweet! Good Video my friend! I love the complex stuff cause it actually gives us (The Viewers) an Idea of what it's actually like to be a Real Military Pilot. And there is a lot of Science and Complexity that goes into missions like this.... Thanks!
I got to go inside a C5 and yes that is a big as Hell aircraft. Amazing it flies at all. Everyone knew where the C5 was just by looking for the tail standing high above everything else LOL
I don't know the dcs world, so I pose this question. Do you ever get into simulations that require mid air refueling? If so, I think that would make great content.
That ending footage when the first salvo of JASSMs hit and then you're like.. cool, mission accomplished. 2 seconds laters.. 2nd salvo. No such thing as overkill in this mission set.
Even though yes, these are scenarios, it shows you what kinda damage the Raptor could do. 6 AMRAAMs, 2 9X Sidewinders, and a gun. A lot of damage can be dealt with just that, and the Raptor proves it.
I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be in that C5. One minute you’re scared shitless and the next minute you see too big explosions and hear something whizz past. This video rocks! Also it’s crazy I type that and when I press play you say the exact same thing
"never realized how big a C5 is". It's unbelievable it flies. I live just outside of the airspace used by the VC25 and some C5s for flight training. KMDT is a very popular area for them to do some flight time due to the huge 10,000' runway and relatively low traffic. Just saw a pair of them doing some flight pattern work last week in fact. It's an awesome sight. Then, just 5 miles away from home, we get to once in a while hear the lovely BRRRRT of the A10 doing some training!
I was thinking exactly what GS was thinking. Two bullies picking on the overweight kid. Then the popular kid, who happens to be the overweight kids cousin and golden gloves champ, shows up!😂😂
I fly the Navy version of the F-35C and do similar missions to these all the time in DCS. The Navy Version is designed to be a dogfighter. Bigger wings, better thrust for carrier ops and better radars than the F-35A and F-35B operated by the Air Force and Marine Corp. My call sign is "Cardinal"
Hey! Been watching your videos for a couple of years now! I wanted to recommend that you upload group PvP scenarios! Like 4v4s and maybe even include bombers to protect or other missions to accomplish. That's all!
