When I was a kid, my family spent two weeks in New York City. One of the places we visited was the UN Building. In the gigantic ground floor was an unassuming drinking fountain against a a perimeter wall. It apparently had been in that same spot for years because the linoleum floor in front of it was worn down to the concrete subfloor. I watched people walk up to the drinking fountain and take a quick sip before they moved on. Each time, they placed their feet in the same spot as most everyone else had over the years, which wore the linoleum away. I'm 71 years old now, and I still remember that. While visiting the Smithsonian Museum in DC when I was a kid, I saw and remembered through all these years one display of black rock--a river bed--that contained hundres of dinosaur bones. This river bed had been carved out of the rock and placed on the floor of the museum as a display. Decades later, when I was in my 30s, I returned to the Smithsonian, during a visit with my brother who was living in DC at the time. I stumbled across this very same display. It had not been moved since I was a small child. It was strange to happen upon that display and find a host of visual memories flood into my mind. That display had not budged an inch in about 30 years.

My mother decided to move some furniture in her finished basement and when we lifted the table instead of the sad maroon coloured carpet we could see throughout the rest of the basement, the carpet under the table was a bright cheerful reddish brown colour. I guess after 20+ years the colour had changed a bit (and yes we did shampoo the carpet, just not moved the table)

when i was a child, there was a sand & gravel quarry, just outside my village. it closed down when i was 10 years old. for a while, afterwards the stark, desolate landscape, which looked like a lunar landscape, was used by the local council as a rubbish dump, then ,it was simply left to nature. amazeingly, over the next, few decades, it underwent such a dramatic transformation, from a dessolate wasteland, to a lush, verdant paradise, of woodlands, bushland, grassland & wildflower strewn meadowlands, that the local council made some paths & tracks through it, put in some benches & a children's playground, & opend it to the public as a "country park". i have been taking walks there since about 2003 &, even since that time , i have seen it change. one aria of what was, up untill 2012, an aria of meadowland, now has a young birchwood growing on it, & some, narrower paths have vanished underneth grass or bushes.. the place is a remarkable example of what time, & nature, can do to a landscape.

NASA needs to design the camera to have an alternate function that will allow it to clean the solar panels. The angle is perfect. Something that can use either air captured from the atmosphere and pressurized to blow it away, or something that can at least brush them every so often. Something they can for sure implement to extend the life of the rover.

I used to be manager of a really old bar that the original owner who had passed away used to lean his elbow on the same spot of the beautiful wood finished mirror and shelving. Where his elbow was from him suddenly moving to fill drinks it wore a hole deep into the woodwork. He haunted that bar so bad I lost 3 different bartenders cuz of him in a 5 year span, they would call me and say they quit. Door was locked but not everything was finished and they will never go back. Thanks Mr. Dorn

5:31 WOW! I used to live next door to the owner of that dog. His name is cruiser and they live in the pacific north west. He is the smartest most intelligent, well behaved dog I’ve ever met. He is so smart that his owner lets him go wherever he wants in the neighborhood. He takes himself to the bathroom. He has a list of friends he visits in order and stops and hangs out for an hour then, without bothering anyone or getting into trouble: he walks himself home to check on his owner. He’s a real good boy.

Here in Finland our king was held prisoner in his own castle about 30 years. I have seen it myself; on a wooden plank by the window there are 5cm (2inch) marks from kings elbows when he every day watched out in the same spot.
