We learn about the Power Package in Rockwood Mini Lite and Flagstaff Micro Lite trailers with Mark Schoch from Mastervolt and why this system just works and works well.
The Power Package is a game-changing system incorporating 1,000 watts of solar and a 400 amp-hour Mastervolt lithium power system that can transform the camping experience and opens up more boondocking and off-grid camping with a reliable, fully functional system that can power everything in the RV.
We have been using a prototype of this system for two months and share our experience with it. You can see our take on this system here: • Our experience with th...

My wife and I bought the Rockwood 2606WS recently and would love to upgrade to this system. We currently have 2 of the gopower 190 watt panels on the roof and 2 flooded batteries, but the included inverter is only 1000 watts. Hopefully, Mastervolt will offer this package!

Mic Brenoel - congrats on your 2606WS! Yes our company can install Mastervolt systems into most floorplans including the 2606. Please contact ABC Upfitters for more information. Thanks!

Do you know if another 400ah battery can be added to the system or is there just no more room? I would like to run my A/C all night but would have to double up the battery storage to do so.

Good to see you both. WOW! what a great system. I have 190 watt solar panel and a 1000 watt inverter on my Minnie Winnie. It powers one 110 plug, the 12 volt plugs and usb only. I want to upgrade, at least, so it will run the refrigerator, when driving,
@StressLessCamping
@StressLessCamping 2 года назад
In theory you may be able to run the refrigerator while driving already using the alternator of the motorhome.

Thanks for sharing. I just hope people understand the comments at 17:00 about how long you can run your air conditioner. I like the power share option, it's one of the features my next trailer would have gone with the "V" brand inverter charger. Wish my 21DS had room for 1000W of PV panels!
@StressLessCamping
@StressLessCamping 2 года назад
Unfortunately there's not a solid answer to the AC question of course. I have NO idea how they get five panels on the roof as ours "only" has four and we are thrilled with that. Plus the newer GoPower panels are 200 watt panels instead of 190s so it's more and more powerful panels.

@@StressLessCamping The math isn't bad if you know your A/C's power needs. My 13.5k BTU Coleman Mach is around 120A during run time. Subtract the average solar you are getting in (if any) and divide by your batteries' usable Ah. My setup can do about 4 hours of A/C runtime when its really hot out and I have full sun.
@RayfordHumphrey
@RayfordHumphrey 2 года назад
Just a heads up about power - Power = Current * Voltage. So, 45A * 12V = 540W and 30A * 120V = 3,600W. So, you can get almost seven times the amount of power from a 30A hook-up source than you can from a 45A solar source. BTW, we really enjoy your show and the experiences you share.
@StressLessCamping
@StressLessCamping 2 года назад
Well shoot - I should have asked Mike Sokol before I made that comment. Thank you for the clarification. Also thank you very much for the kind words. We sincerely appreciate them!

Nice video. But it would be helpful to know how you can run a 1000 watt AC off a 600 watt solar array? This is just math.
@StressLessCamping
@StressLessCamping 4 месяца назад
Well, a few things. First of all it's a 1,000 watt solar array (5 x 200 watts). But remember that you don't run the things in the RV from the solar panels but, rather, from the battery and inverter. All the solar does is replenish the power in the battery. That's how I could run the AC in the middle of the night and hope for a sunny day the next day...but not too sunny and hot 🤓 This has a 460ah lithium battery and a 3,000 watt Combimaster inverter system. So I can run the AC from 4-7 hours depending on how it's set (remember AC units cycle) and what other demands there are on the system.

I purchased a 2205s with the power package. My dealer knew nothing. Great video! I still have so many questions. I would appreciate some help! I have been out on a 2 day camping trip with power. When parked at home it is plugged.

What I've found is that the dealers that I have encountered have zero idea of how the system works and how to optimize it. I would seek out the Facebook Group for this system (facebook.com/groups/770160891333118) and participate in that. The company that puts it together for Rockwood/Flagstaff - ABC Upfitters - regularly participates in that Group and there are other members who are very, very knowledgeable there as well.

We looked at a 2511 today in PA and asked the dealer about power package. On their order form option list it says Power Package (2509S and 2205S). We loved the 2511 but were hoping to be able to get that power package on it. Maybe in the next few months?
@StressLessCamping

Actually you can contact ABC Upfitters - they can install these systems retroactively and are the ones Rockwood/Flagstaff has chosen to engineer these systems.

Ugh you might consider finding a locally-owned dealership. Know that Rockwood and Flagstaff are the same brand so if you have a locally-owned dealership that has either brand that might be better. The Power Package is simply a line item option on the 2205s. Here are some tips for your shopping: www.stresslesscamping.com/rv-shopping-tips

I have a question 👋 Often the only place to install a system like this is under the bed so I wonder how high the emfs are that are being emitted from the system. Has your company done a study on this? How safe is it for our bodies to sleep on top of?
@StressLessCamping
@StressLessCamping 2 года назад
Ours is under the bed and I don't have any idea if there would be any long-term effects from this. The products and wiring are well shielded and then there's an aluminum-framed platform and a thick mattress (we replaced ours). I haven't even been able to hear the fan in the system when it runs in the night but that's the best answer I have.

What is the cost of this option and how long the A/C lasts? One of Rockwood's power options in the past reduced the A/C from 13.5 KBTUs to a soft-start 11 KBTUs. Is this also the case?
@StressLessCamping
@StressLessCamping Год назад
I believe this depends on the model. Our previous 2205S did have an 11,500 BTU air conditioner.

When you tow the trailer, do you disconnect the battery switch to the coach outlets enroute or do you prefer to leave it active (to power the refrigerator for example).
@StressLessCamping
@StressLessCamping 2 года назад
We leave it engaged/active. The charging system then has power from the solar panels as well as the tow vehicle. I've never arrived at a campsite with anything less than a full battery after six hours of driving or so, which is what we've typically been doing.

Ballpark cost?
@StressLessCamping
@StressLessCamping Год назад
A lot of variables depending on options/choices but I think the MSRP is somewhere in the $11,000 range. However, as with most things RV, you can find the package for less depending on the dealership.
@AdorableDeplorable1
@AdorableDeplorable1 Год назад
You could do a comparable system with Victron components and Battleborn batteries for around $7k.
@StressLessCamping
@StressLessCamping Год назад
@@AdorableDeplorable1 There is always a cheaper way to do anything. For the person who truly understands these systems you could save the labor costs of a professional installer. But we also know people who get part-way through an installation and get stumped and then have to either give up after having paid for pieces or pay someone to fix their mistakes. Cheaper isn’t always the better solution. I believe the LIST price (MSRP) is in the neighborhood of $11,000 or so but most dealers are offering discounts again. With the typical discounts offered by many RV dealers that would make this finished, installed system comparable to the pieced-together solution you quoted and with a system like this you could rest assured that all the pieces work well together, are warranted by ONE provider and are properly wired with quality wiring and connections. There is absolute value in that to me.

Absolutely! You could reach out to ABC Upfitters directly (they're the ones who designed and prepped the Power Package system) OR they run a Facebook Group and are VERY responsive. facebook.com/groups/770160891333118/ We've worked with ABC Upfitters for some time now and they really do run a class operation. On that Facebook Group they just shared a bunch of resources and continue to do so. Mastervolt is absolutely not part of Lippert - they are a separate company altogether and have previously been focused on marine installations where there is truly little tolerance for failure.
