It was the first single released from the group's 1985 eponymous debut album, released by Parlophone Records in 1985. It was the band's biggest hit, peaking at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The video featured the transgender model Caroline Cossey, also known as Tula.
The Power Station was a supergroup featuring Robert Palmer, John Taylor and Andy Taylor from Duran Duran and Tony Thompson from Chic.

+phuturephunk It's a recording technique called "gated drum" that's responsible for the amazing drum sound. It's a techniques used in a lot of songs, but "Some Like it Hot" by Power Station, and "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins are the songs most often cited as examples. "Bennie and the Jets" By Elton John also has a fantastic sounding gated effect on the drums.

I remember him singing "Riptide", the title of the album that contained the hit song "Addicted to Love". When that song came out EVERYBODY was blown away. Handsome man backed by several beautiful women each playing a guitar. The song was great and the video of the handsome Palmer in a crisp white shirt, black tie and black pants with gorgeous women in black was tooooo much and the driving bass no doubt helped propel this song to greatness. SHOCKING FACT: Andy Taylor was a guitarist, songwriter, and producer for Robert Palmer, Rod Stewart, Paul Rodgers, Belinda Carlisle, and dozens of other gold-selling artists. He is considered one of the finest guitarists amongst industry insiders. The public dismisses Taylor because he was a member of Duran Duran, the other members of whom were also talented, underrated musicians, not just the pretty boys portrayed by the media.

This song was "the crap on the radio" at one point to some old fart in the 80s. In fact, every song was noise to the generation which came before, and moaning about modem music is just the same low hanging fruit that's always been around. Don't like it? Then don't listen.

Tont listen? Ok how you avoid 90% media sources? It's literally URRVRYWHERE like .. i was at a buffet and had to sit there and hear that trash. Look... modern music sucks. It's just the truth of the matter. In the 80s I walked around in public and heard this song playing in like 4 of 5 stores I walked into.. ah the 80s. a time when the music was so narly virtually any place you walked to you heard some awesome jam. Rambo Rocky Karate kid breakfast klub the movies were perfect. Huey lewis Sindy lauper. Rick James Peter setera kenny loggins Jorge Michael I mean kmon now. The music was perfect. the technology might be better. But honestly... I'd rather play on a trs80 the rest of my life and watch a standard 240p tv if I kould live in the 80s again.. # 80s 4AVAR. also Michael Jackson and Madonna hello?!?!?

@@razmatazz9310 .... yea...but music actually IS trash now. I keep hearing " there's KREAT music around. You just have to look around" - modern people. Kid who you voolin! If you have to hunt 4 it that just proves my point. KREAT Music shouldn't be a needle in the haystack. In the 80s it was on ALL the stations. and MTV. Was there krap music? Sure but it wasn't advertised. The industry was refined and only put the best stuff on. Now they just tont Kare. It's like the people in the industry have become idiots. It ain't the musicians vaults. I aint blaming them. It's the people putting the SAME 5 trash songs on over and over and those people LEAD the music industry and tell the stations what to put on. THAT'S why music sucks today. Now... I have 50s 60s 70s and yes 80s playlists so I AIN'T biased I just have taste. 80s was the LAST time artists were allowed to be artists after that kommercialism killed it. Oh btw I just started listening to the 1st 40 years of the 1900s so when I say music sucks now you should believe it.
