Acro is the underdog tbh. Like its physical capabilities is like adding allosaurus with a rex Quite literally will overshadow and outright make theropods like spino or carachara to shame
Always been one of my favorite Dinosaurs. There representation in park builder video games specifically has been amazing. The gorgeous color scheme of the jpog design and the paleontological accuracy of the jwe design are both amazing.
Both theories make sense. A big muscle hump would be useful for taking down huge prey like Sauroposeidon. On the other hand, if they had a wacky display, it’s not like they would need to worry about scaring their prey away. Ain’t no sauropod outrunning anybody.
A display could also be used to display to intimidate smaller predators off of kills or even as a intimidation display between competing adult individuals. It could also have been the base of a more sexually selective display type of structure Or it could have just been muscle attachment point. Or we could take another example from the bison and say it’s a bit of both. The muscle hump on bison is not into sexually dimorphic and sexually selective but also serves a practical use as well for muscle attachment It could be that the acro had both a muscle hump and something to adorn it that could have been used or social interaction or intimidation.
Jesus died on the cross for the sin of the world and rose again three days later, Jesus is the resurrection and the life, Jesus is the son of God and the Lord over everyone and the savior of everyone, give your life to Jesus and call on the name of the Lord and you WILL BE SAVED, God is a God of judgment, and also a God of joy and goodness, and holiness, and mercy, and grace, repent from your sins and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and what is in this Paragraph and read the Holy Bible because I'm getting this information from there, don't turn your face from the Almighty God of Israel, if you don't choose God you are a fool and I'm sorry to say this but it is true and i was once a fool too I'm not coming at you and judging you, I'm simply saying if you know the truth yet you don't do it, then what are you seeking, are you seeking lies? I don't know about you but i want the truth even if it is hard and painful and seems like a step on the toe, it is better than to be spiritually blind to what is happening in life and in the world. love you and God loves you too Stay true
I have another theory: Acrocanthosaurus lived with many Ankylosauria, and as it didn't have a bite as strong as tyrannosaurids it couldn't just bite through their armor so it may have used those muscles to lift them up and thus bite their belly.
Acrocanthosaurus: high spined lizard Spinosaurus:spined lizard Acro spine:pretty short but still makes sense Spino spine:tall as hell if Acro was found first it would prob be called spino and vies verse
Honestly. Acro is REALLY underrated. If it can kill large sauropods, run fast, has strong ass arms, good enough bite, Its probably one of the few top carnivores, and probably surpasses tthings like spino in many way
This dinosaur was an absolute unit. The neck vertebrae actually lock together to add increased regidity to its neck and reduce lateral movement when biting upwards AKA onto things bigger than itself like sauropods. Combined with a pulling mechanism and it's large robust but sharp steak knife teeth when biting into large prey these adaptations would culminate in a devastating bite which would have inflicted massive trauma and blood loss in a single bite
Additionally, some tests suggested the arms of acrocanthosaurus could potentially lift over a tonne each. If true this means Acrocanthosaurus could hypothetically lift an adult rhino with ONE arm!!!
Acrocanthosaurus was the first Dino skeleton I’ve ever seen at some museum in North Carolina and since then that thing has been my favorite Dino for sure
Those who say that acro, Giga, charchar did not have a strong bite, and the raised spines were only there for show,..and the justification they give for that argument is, and i am not joking.. "Trex had a very strong bite, and it did not have a tall spine"..😂 And wow, the Trex fan boys really be copping 😂
Having studied vet anatomy, I can say that I don't think having strong torso muscle attachments make up for a powerful bite, since they don't go directly from body to skull (only one specific tendon does and it's used for neck flexibility which means it's not even attached to spinal processes), but they MIGHT have a play in reinforcing shoulder and limb strength! Example: trapezius muscle and longissimus dorsi muscle. But long spinal processes don't necessarily equal hump presence, take spino as reference. More research is needed, that's for sure.
