The PowerPuff Girls Anime Was Weird: The RowdyRuff Boys!

The Rowdy Ruff Boys in the PPGZ anime were confirmed to have an intended Anti-Hero potential due to them technically possessing both White Z energy which represents good and black Z energy which is evil. Mojo is never shown to eliminate the White z energy from the Girls DNA and when the Boys learn their origins, they are legit shocked and intend on doing some long overdue soul searching to see what they should do before being convinced by Him to help bring a sphinx to life. It was confirmed the series was meant to be longer and that the boys would be going through some character growth in which they would have slowly but surely drop their vulgar behavior and adapt more of an anti-hero role even working with the girls on occassion if it benefits them. Too bad the show only had 2 seasons...

The anime was still better than the reboot

The Rowdyruff Boys were my favorite part of the original powerpuff girls series.

kind of normal for Japan and kind of a brilliant evil pln. Dress s your enemy, pretend to be them , ruin there reputation. I think some anime would have gone even farther with the weirdness. The reason this didn't get censored is that it didn't air on 4Kids, Fox Kids or WB

Again don’t know if you are watching the dub or sub, but in the episode of the boys replaying the girls a lot of it was to understand how their world works. In many magical girl (older versions) the girls always looked like themselves and most people didn’t realize it was them unless they somehow see them transform. In the sub version, when Ken sees the Professor in Bubbles’ clothes he thinks it’s Bubbles no the Professor. This helps establish why the citizens of Tokyo couldn’t see why the boys where the RRBZ and not the real girls. It also shows what the outfits must put a glamour (disguise) on the PPGZ so people don’t recognize who they are. I believe in the dub, the girls have their normal names and still call themselves that when they transform. Makes the magical part of it break for me.

This is a magical girl anime but fueled with crack and I love it

I loved Powerpuff girls and Powerpuff girls Z, PPGZ was my first anime I ever watched subbed, before that all I had was pokemon, yugioh, inuyasha, and naruto. I was always interested by the different culture and the art style but up until I was 11 I didn't even really know I could watch them in their original state nor exactly how much I was missing because of the censors, script change, etc. When I found PPGZ on youtube, I got hooked. Sure it was weird at times (but ppg was also occasionally weird lol) and the finale wasn't the greatest but it was my gateway into the rest of nerd culture and even now I'd probably re-watch it and reminisce.

Maybe most people don't know why this anime was made PPG was not popular in Asia and Japan. Therefore, at the request of CN, it was made with the background that "I want you to make an Asian version, so I want you to make it freely without worrying about the original." So the settings and the world view are different. The production staff of Magical Doremi, Sailor Moon, and Precure are also cooperating. The transformation scene is supported by the staff of magical doremi. It seems that it was popular in South America, but neither PPG nor PPGZ seemed to be popular in Japan.

The original Rowdy Ruff Boys were defeated not just by kisses but by "cooties". As in " Eeww, girls have cooties" because romantic actions are a "girly" thing and it's gross.

After looking at the episodes of the original and the anime I don't get why people ship them.😐 didn't professor took care of jojo as a son before the girls were made? So if jojo made the rowdyruff boys, wouldn't that make them thier nephews or at least siblings?

Original PPG: Has Mojo being a nanny, the clown who absorbs colors, the villainess who puts makeup on everyone, the hypnocat, the leech-man who sucks brains, the bum who's a robot piloted by roaches, boogeyman episode turning into Star Wars reference, Mojo killing a giant space Galactus with a bread, Blossom stealing golf clubs, a giant toilet-head monster. PPGZ: Doesn't have a half of that and is mostly focused on classic tokusatsu and superhero anime references. Fans: Man, PowerPuff Girls Anime is weird.

It feels like you're just bashing on the anime adaption just because its anime. You haven't even given it a fair chance by watching the whole thing. And again you are basing your judgements by comparing the anime to more western cartoon tropes and culture. When comparing it to other anime (like wow what a concept) this isnt as perverted ad you make it out to be. Seriously, huge fan of yours but this episode just screams ignorance.

I really wish the anime hadn't gotten rid of the "sugar and spice and everything nice" for girls and "snips and snails and puppy dog tails" for boys theme that was in the original. The girls are made from plain old sex, and the boys are made from...yeah.

I was simping for Bubbles in PPGZ just like all the other boys she casually friendzoned

They didn’t die in the anime tho they popped back up next to him in the final episode Brick gets surprised and scared and then he passes back out but nobody remembers that part because it was so quick

In an episode of steven universe, his underwear became sentient, with a shard, and it shows then leaping off him. Why would someone go to jail for any of the rrbz stuff? And why would it be censored? What you mentioned here is not that extreme and worse things are done in various western cartoons. Boys dressed as girls... ok so what. And again steven universe went further with his wardrobe removal then they did. As did DBZ, batman the animated series (robin), and many more. In a few cartoons on CN I have even seen the running gag in shows, to be pulling peoples pants down as a prank. The only weird part of what you mentioned in this video was the boys just getting in the mayors vehicle. But even that can be seen as them pretending to be the ppgz. He was the major and they would have known that. As far as everyone falling for the ploy, well yeah ignorance is a common trope in most shows. Much like how no one knows clark kent is superman...or bruce is batman, and wonder woman, really almost every super hero and villian are good examples of this. "but they are boys not girls" Just think about that before you mention it. Why would any one be paying that much attention to notice the difference???? To get to the point, what about this episode made it weird? Ok I will also admit the professor putting one of the outfits on strange. But I just wrote that off as cultural humor.

It is so odd to see someone that is sure this is as strange as the show gets... in one episode, bubbles dates a werewolf. Can't wait to see that video on here soon.

The Rowdyruff Boys are meant to be weird. They were no different in any other version. Also, at least they don't beat the girls into a pulp so RRBZ are actually a better version of the RRB from the original series. RRB are beyond disgusting and behave terrible with the girls there.

The OG Powerpuff Girls will always be my favorite. I've watch it since as long as I could remember with my aunt when she was 11. Sugar, spice, and everything nice was everything.

I think when you watch PPGZ it's important to acknowledge that it's not a direct adaptation of the source material but rather a majo shoujo/magical girl adaption akin to series such as Pretty Cure and I think they did a good job of taking an American based cartoon and adapting it for a Japanese audience which is also why Momoko(Hyper Blossom), Miyako(Rolling Bubbles), and Kaoru(Powered Buttercup) are not exactly one for one characterization of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup from the original series since a majority of their original characterization may not have resonated as much with the target demographic or might have been portrayed poorly if they're characters were one for one. With the recent revival of new adaptations of beloved anime, I hope someday Aniplex will revisit the series.

I get the feeling that the guy that does these videos lives a sheltered life, away from Anime and Cartoons, and only does videos on this channel about cartoons because he needs to eat. There's episodes of Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and a dozen other recent cartoons that would put PPGZ to shame with their weirdness (Don't even lie. Nearly all of the original 90's cartoon cartoons would put PPGZ to shame with their weirdness). Those shows have many more "Jailtime" worthy moments if that's what you want to call it.

A few things to point on. It is showed in the episode where the Boys steal the cloths that the clothing makes those that where it "look" like the original owner. This is shown when the Professor put is on, and Ken thinks he is really Bubbles. With the Sphinx, they don't kill them. The Boys are set back to modern times after the kiss attack.

PPFG Anime version was quit different it has many issue. Specially in case of Rowdyruff dress .(Brick dress is pink).(It should be Red. Same with Boomer, Butch it should be (deep blue, deep green).
