Four years later, this video has helped me so much with an idea I had about making placemats with wrapped gifts. Thank you soooo much! It has turned out beautifully!!!
Jenny, thank you so much for your tutorials. Both of my grandmother's quilted, but unfortunately, I never learned how when they were still with us. My Nannie passed last year and when I inherited many of my her quilt supplies and partial blocks, I decided to try to teach myself. I first found your tutorial on RU-vid for the double slice layer cake. Your tutorials made it so simple to teach myself. I have now taken over the role my Nannie always did of making baby quilts for new babies in the family. Your tutorials have brought healing and comfort to me by making me feel closer to her. Thank you so much for everything you do.
Many years after this has been posted, and I'm still enjoying this one! I laughed out loud about being tricked into sewing the flying geese block! It worked out perfectly!! I modified my gift block to be smaller and only use a vertical ribbon and bow, given I had a smaller amount of fabric to work with -- and it is going just fine! These tutorials have given me the skills and confidence I needed to become proficient over the years! Thanks, Jenny!! Over 50 quilts sewn now -- many of them gifted! ❤ MSQC is the best! Love you all!
Love, love, love Watching Jenny share her joy as she quilts!! This quilt will positively be keeping some one I love warm this winter. Thank you all for thinking of us as you work together to teach us to go for the next step in our quilting journey. God bless you all!
I have watched you from the beginning. Recently becoming disabled and after I stopped feeling sorry for myself I decided to take up quilting. All the credit goes goes to you Jenny. I have only started but have made 2 complete quilts and I believe this one will be my third.. THANKS JENNY
Jenny I love this. Usually Fridays are so busy in our house I don't get to see you until very late, but tonight they have all stepped out and I'm taking the opportunity to sit down and watch. Now I want them to stay out all night, only joking, I will get a chance next week when they all go back to the city. Keep them coming.
I really love Jenny and her family, I wish was one of her family I would work with her and Natalie. Jenny comes up with brilliant ways to work patterns, it is much easier than going by patterns in other quilt books! I subscribe to Block, before they started it up I would wish I had them in a book, needless to say I was overjoyed. Thank you all so much!
Love this design! I used three "presents" to make a table runner. Used the same red ribbon for all three. Took a couple of hours to complete. Thanks Jenny.
You are always so enjoyable to watch. I have more ideas from you than I will ever use but I, and many others, just keep coming back for more. Thank you for the wonderful ideas and tips!
Thank u for your tutorialsI'm a self taught quilterWatched my mom and church ladies quilt the old fashioned way I picked up a little sewing from my mom as she was always making something out of necessityMy son loves me to make him quilts Only made one Working on one nowW
Look this video! Your instructions are always fun to watch and so!! clear. I've made two of these quilts so far and plan to make more. Thank you so much!
I just love watching your videos! I'm self taught and have always done things the hard way. Would you please consider doing a series showing how to get started with a quilt project, selecting materials, measurements, process of cutting, assembly and finishing.
I am currently making 21 present blocks for a Block Swop. Thanks for the great video Jenny. You make quilting look so easy. I want to make he Illusion block quilt in the near future. I will be my first full sized quilt. You are such an inspiration.
Jenny... you have come a long way on cutting your threads right after you sew!!! I love this quilt, but somehow I missed it in Oct. So glad I found it. On way to KC for the Royals Tue. game (YEAH... 10 to 0) we stopped in Hamilton... what a wonderful place! It was my third time there, but the two previous ones were in the old store. Husband made me eat first, before shopping, so we had the best hamburgers next door...wish I could remember the name... after shopping we had ice cream from there too! Wish we could move there... maybe someday!
I love this idea. You make everything look so easy. As I watched this video, I found myself thinking that would look cool with the ribbons going corner to corner with the bow in the center of the square too. would love to see a video on that as well. Keep the great videos coming.
Maybe it's in the comments below that I can't read, but I suggest, rather than making Flying Geese blocks for the bows, just fold the 2-1/2" squares in half and stich the raw edges into the seam of the "box" and the two 3-1/2" background pieces. This makes sort of a Prairie Point and would give the bow more dimensional pop.
I am only 16 and quilting is apart of me and my life I love quilting and this quilt idea is so cute I love it. I am deffunitly going to make on of these present quilts
I got it all pinned up and realized I needed the border on the top. The tutorial says, 'then all you need is the sashing on the side' You need one on top too! LOL and I guess you don't need one up top but my mind says Square it up with borders. :P
I second darygal64's comment. It would be terrific also to know how much fabric is required to make projects of the various sizes and how to figger it out! Your finished products are so beautiful. I have bought many pre cuts to try some of these projects out. Getting started is the biggest hurdle as I am also self taught via Craftsy, and yourself.
Peggy Bray I made and quilted single 'presents with hangers on the back to make simple hanging pictures as presents. I used a triangle on each corner of the back that you could slip a flat thin step of wood in and you can use those removable Velcro sticky hangers.
Jenny can you please do a tutorial on the chocoholic frabric...I purchased it awhile ago and having hard trouble with coming up with ideas for it. Thanks love ur channel.
This is great…. But I would like to modify the present sizes. Making a table runner, with one row of houses on each side…. Mixing the present sizes from large to small within the row. Help! Jenny we need another tutorial!! 😂😊
I had to watch this present quilt again. Jenny, you are the best teacher in the world! When you have a minute, can you tell me which Babylock sewing machine you used in this video? Thank you! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I love this quilt and have a sassing question. In your book the directions say cut the sassing for the side and bottom of the block 12 1/2" is that correct? it looks like a 2 1/2 in the quilt but then watching the video your's looks 4 1/2 " could you give the help me out? Please....................
