@goober4502 You're right. I see what you're saying. You got me thinking she punctuates her performance of the song in much the way Petty does: nothing wasted (unless it's them), kinda' elegant and laid back, like you say: "cool" but they really put a whip-crack to it when they come in with a chord or a move. She snaps her fingers and I'm jumping way out here. And of course.....wailing on that harmonica. Cool that you saw that comparison and posted.
Although the instruments rock like hell, the studio version sounds just a bit meaner, I miss that mean angle a bit in this live performance. Still, nice job, love the harmonica interlude, very efficient ! Hope the drummer is going to calm down a bit, otherwise we'll end up with similar situations as with Dire Straits live at a certain moment. This kind of rock needs a somewhat more simple, straight drumming, not too much tingle tangle bom bom, think rather AC/DC than Rush.
What a voice! So great! She should never wear a black shirt though, it makes her look depressed.. A white buttoned down shirt would look so much better and more comfortable! :)
@lighttakesthetree youre so right its southern california maaaan a plastic land with plactic folks and the only culture they know is from billboards and tv commercials.i saw crissy and pretenders open for neil young out there in 2000 at an out door venue i think the greek theatre?she played her ass off sadly for only 45mins the crowd PATIENLY waited for neil i was appalled.i was the only one yelling and cheering being from philly thats how we do.
I would like to watch Chrissy without all the fancy angles and cut aways., I just want to see her doing her show.. I dont care about the band. Plus.. you dont leave the camera on any one thing long enough to focus...
Love the song and the performance, love Chrissy Hynde, and I'm trying to be positive; but what's up with the audience!? The crowd sucks! What drugs are they on, or not on! What a pathetic anemic contribution! Where's the countdown! What about going nuts during the opening drum solo? That does it. L.A. must suck! Why is she even thanking them? I don't get it? Why show up, why live if you can't get outa' your seat for this performance! (Sorry about all the punctuation marks.)
I really like this song so I watched several videos from different time periods. These guys do the same thing over and over again. Chrissy Hines is not capable of improvising. I thought they were from the early punk days in New York/CB GB in the 70s? I find bands who play stuff same each time to be a joke. Sad but true.
Shes called CHRISSIE HYNDE and the WHOLE thing about punk and pOstpunk was PRECISELY to get rid of all that stupid improvisation shit, with which so many idiots of the seventies tried to hide their lack of talent, you dork
