The fact that Nintendo has shown so much of this game means one thing: It's bigger than we think it is. It may have another area aside from the overworld and Still World. There might be something like the sky islands in TOTK, for example. Either way, this game looks amazing.

Well its not 2D...dunno why Top Down Zelda is still being called that in 2024 but its cus a lot of us hoped Top Down Zelda would stay traditional while full depth 3D zeldas could remain sandbox style

Frame rate is not an issue. I've played a game on 1.5 fps before and it was bearable.

Looking a lot more like what I enjoy in a Zelda game! I can't believe there are people who dislike that the dungeons are more linear... some people really just treat freedom like its the magnum opus of gameplay.

I’m just waiting for Giratina to show up in the still world. Looks like a great balance between old and new Zelda game structures. I feel like Nintendo is king when showing games don’t have to be graphic masterpieces to be good.

I must say, despite being a life long old guard Zelda fan, Tears of the Kingdom really underperformed for me personally and soured my interest. I thought Echoes of Wisdom looked fun but did not plan to get it Day 1. Seeing all the previews, though, has given me cause to re-evaluate that stance. Still not sure, but if nothing else the marketing has been quite effective.

This game looks pretty creative. As someone who wanted to like Princess Peach Showtime (but struggled due to overly simplistic gameplay), this game looks like it has an elaborate enough gameplay system (and decent enough story [cough cough, Fire Emblem Engage]) to keep me hooked

Personally, I’m excited for the side quests and all the different characters in the different regions! Never been big on dungeons (I know, that’s sacrilegious to long time Zelda fans lmao) but I’m glad to see a more linear form. So if I drop off and come back to it, I won’t have to spend hours running around trying to remember how to get from place to place

Pretty massive is a thing people keep saying about this game but its more quantifiable than that because we can literally see the size of locations form a Link to the Past (which all the central map borrows from) and then they've extended the map by one area size on the left, right, bottom and maybe the top. Another aspect is there is no height to the world but we'll need to see how that makes old ALttP areas feel different in this. As someone who has played both A Link to the Past and Link Between Worlds countless times now, I'd hardly call it massive when its seemingly only twice the size as a Link to the Past's map. Massive was BotW, this isn't that. It is big though which is nice. A complete reuse of ALttP map would have not been great. I'd say the game looks more dense than large. Which is great, because they'll use all the abilities to get around and have secrets everywhere.

Something that concerns me is the size of the map. I'm worried that there may not be enough places to explore & quality content packed into them. Now that we can see the entire map, I'm looking at & considering how I expected it to be a little bigger. I also saw that the game is 5gb. But it's the map where nothing's filled in, so maybe a lot more is going on & there's plenty of wonderful adventures for us to have, especially in terms of dungeons

Firstly, I prefer a smaller map filled with optional content in each screen, than a too much big map like Breath of the Wild with not a lot of thing to do except Shrine and some side quest. Secondly, smaller storage data does not always mean shorter playtime. Exemple, Chained Echoes ( 1GB) took me 40 hours to finish it. My playtime for CrossCode (2.7 GB) is like 60 hours and I'm not even at the Epilogue DLC, because the game has a lot of side content.

Why WOULDN'T the game have performance issues? It has gorgeous graphics and it's trying to run at 60fps. There is a lot going on at any given moment. That said, I can't wait for the "Switch 2" to provide a SIGNIFICANT leap in power.

This will probably get ratio'd, but I'm seeing a lot of comments saying things like "I dont care about the frame rate or other issues, I'll buy it regardless." and that has me worried. If Nintendo keeps hearing that, they're going to progressively give you worse and worse products, knowing you'll just buy them. Still makes them money. Not saying this game is shaping up to be bad by any means, but I think that's a dangerous mindset for people to have. For the industry, AND for themselves. You shouldn't be willing to just buy whatever you're handed.

The preschool baby graphics worked for Link's Awakening, it matched the style of that game. But to continue it... I dunno. It's not that it looks bad persay... the water especially is gorgeous. But I can't be the only person who can imagine a FAR better looking 2D Zelda than this, that would more properly fit the atmosphere and style we expect. If this had launched on Gamecube, I don't think it would have really stood out too much graphically

I really don't get why people keep calling this 2D. In standard play, when you're not side-scroll platforming, it's literally 3D. You can move forward, backward, left, right and also up & down. That's called 3D, folks. This is a top down game, but it's not 2D 😉
