The phone call at the end is the icing on the cake in terms of "excitement" for me. Marisa if you are reading this, I just wanna say that your victory was a great joy to watch...I screamed so loud for you. CONGRATULATIONS!
BTW, this wasn't an Australian game show record. That belonged to Robert Kusmierski who won over $676,000 in cash and prizes on "Sale of the Century" in 1992. This was, however, a record for Price, and a record which would stand until the $664,000+ win about a year later.
Here's a question I wanted to ask-- has Larry kept in touch with Marisa and other Mega Showcase winners? I know he's kept in touch with Mad Mary, at least, as far as Aussie TPIR contestants go, considering she made an appearance on The Morning Show only days before the abysmal 2012 version premiered... Speaking of which, wonder how Marisa would react if she actually saw that version and how cheap it was compared to the Mega/Monster Showcases?
Okay, I admit was off by four dollars. I must have miscalculated when I subtracted the value of the eight prizes (which was indeed $112,912) from the total of the showcase ($567,912). The value of the condo is an even $455,000.
Yeah you did forget one other who won a million on the old format of wwtbam Australia his name was Martin flood how could you forget about him but the mega showcases on the older tpir in Australia were crazy i loved it missed old format it was the best!!!!!
wrong again, it WAS a record for price at that time, but what you're wrong about is the fact that you said that lasted a year, unless i'm mistaken it lasted a week.
Uh, did you not see "This was, however, a record for Price" as part of my comment? And do you know anyone that has video evidence of Laurie Dennis' Mega Showcase win being more than Marisa's?
No, she wasn't-- Robert Kusmierski won AU$676,790 on Sale of the Century back in 1992. IINM, he had been the biggest winner on an Aussie game show before Coach won it all on Millionaire 13 years later.
This prevented people from being able to work out the total of any missing values, either to blow the ending or to influence their decision to take the money or not
wow, i'm kinda surprised, why would they be afraid of people working out the totals in their head, (I mean it makes sense, but what i'm saying is that I doubt ANYBODY would be able to do it under that kind of pressure.) (I'm pretty good at doing math in my head and I don't think i'd be able to do it in that kind of situation.)
