The shows that aired in this particular week were the last with the Hollywood mural turntable and the orange/purple showcase podiums. The following week saw the elimination of the mural, reverting back to the odd "curve" design...but with the purple, red and orange being painted pink, lavender and blue. The showcase podiums would also be repainted blue and pink to reflect the new turntable at that point.
The ole come in the backdoor gag to hide that Golden Road was the first game. Love that they used an old sans horn cue for the middle prize on the Golden Road.
juliaz12345 Actually. This Hollywood Backdrop was an idea from Syd Vinnedge who was an executive of Fremantle Media, the production company that took over the show in the early 2000's. Many of the Price Is Right staff hated it and although Bob Barker wasn't too struck on it, he allowed it to be there so he can help Syd feel he was contributing to the show. But months later during the 31st season, the staff told Bob that they wanted to get rid of that backdrop and Bob said "OK". So they got rid of it and brought back the classic backdrop but with a new color scheme.
I liked the Hollywood Backdrop. It looked better at night when they were doing their "Million Dollar Spectacular" when the Backdrop was all blue and purple.
