In this homily from the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Fr. Ricardo Pineda, CPM, stresses the importance of being willing to give up or sacrifice all that we have, practicing radical self-denial and detachment from created things, in order to enter the eternal joy of Heaven after death and to enjoy the foretastes of Heaven offered by higher levels of prayer and spiritual growth, even during our life on earth. May God bless you all for your viewership!

The Congregation of the Fathers of Mercy, which was founded in 1808, originally under the title of “The Missionaries of France.” The community was founded for the purpose of re-evangelizing the people of France after the Catholic Faith had been subjected to years of attacks and persecution during the French Revolution. It is now exclusively an American community. The Generalate of the Congregation is located in Auburn, Kentucky. The primary apostolate of the Fathers of Mercy is to conduct parish missions and retreats throughout the United States and other countries when called upon. The Congregation also staffs rural parishes in the Archdiocese of Louisville, Kentucky.

Great homily, I never hear anything about the reality of hell from the pulpit anymore. People come to mass so lackadaisical these days; dressed as if going to Walmart, talking, texting, etc. Can’t leave their phone in their car for even an hour. Sad. God gives us 168 hours every week and He only wants one of them from us, but many can’t leave the world outside for that hour. Would love to hear more of this catechesis from the pulpit, maybe a homily about being properly disposed to come to mass. If we were going to meet or go to dinner with our favorite celebrity or maybe some dignitary, I’m sure we would be on our best behavior and dressed nice. Yet, there is Jesus in the tabernacle and we treat Him like an afterthought. Keep preaching the truth, even when it’s not popular. Thank you.

Yes, and it seems to be getting worse. People leaving immediately after Holy Communion, and the hands in the pockets while praying are 2 things that really upset me. Do we not know that at Mass we are in the presence of God?

Let it be known to all: Through the Holy Spirit, God has put it on me to preach to those lost in the devil's deceit! Hear me when I say, ye that are Catholic have been deceived and know not God. Ye worship Mary, praying to her; when God tells his to worship none other than him. It is idolatry. Catholicism has its own Bible and teachings, which are blasphemous to the word of God: the Holy Bible. As ye follow the teachings of man and not God; ye hear the pope, but not Jesus, yet ye claim to be his disciples! These are but a few things I named ye dwell within; there are many more. I tell you now to repent of your sins, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you'll receive the gift of the Holy Spirit upon asking the Father! There are *NO* sub-divisions of Christianity. You're either a disciple of Christ or not. A Christian is someone who follows God's word, not a religion. Who obey the Father and follow his will; not man's nor their own heart's. Unless you keep Jesus' commandments, think not the Holy Spirit will dwell within you! They who heed this message and did what was stated with an open heart to God... Read the Holy Bible (KJV) daily and every time before you read, pray to the Father and ask: "Lord I ask that you give me understanding of your word, that I interpret it the way you want me to, and none of my own. I ask you in Jesus' name, amen." Revelation 22:8-9 KJV 8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. Acts 2:38 KJV 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Luke 11:13 KJV 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? John 14:21-24 KJV 21 *He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.* 22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, *If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.* 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and *the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.* 3 John 1:11 KJV 11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. *He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.* 1 John 3:6-10 KJV 6 *Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.* 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: *he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.* 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 *Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.* 10 *In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,* neither he that loveth not his brother.

Mass attendance is very low these now. I see it at my church esp. in summer. Many people don't know it's a mortal sin to miss Mass without a valid reason. You can't achieve salvation on the installment plan. You must work on it 24/7. I have nearly died twice over the past 11 yrs. God spared my life, and I had to undergo conversion with terrible suffering.

@@Call_Upon_YAH I stopped reading when you said that Catholics worship Mary. Evidently, you know nothing about the Catholic faith. Catholic Church condemns Mariology, and explicitly teaches that only God alone is to be worshipped. If you continue to claim that Catholics worship Mary or anyone else other than God just to prove your narrative, then you are being deceitful yourself. Catholics believe that saints in heaven pray for us. We do not worship them. Same is true when it comes to Mother Mary, even more so, similar to how the Queen Mother played a special role as an intercessor to the King in ancient times, or how it is implied during the wedding at Cana. It would be odd for Mary not to present petitions to Christ the King, while other members of the royal court in heaven did (Rev 5:8, 8:3-4). She is also the Mother of all Christians. This can be demonstrated in many places in the Bible, such as her being the new Eve (following the logic that the first Eve is already referred as "the mother of all living"), and for the Beloved Disciple, with whom we should resonate, was told, "Behold your mother." Mary's maternal care for Christ extends in a special way to the Church, the Body of Christ. It would be very odd indeed for our Mother to have little care for us, and to not pray for us. And by the way, the "prayers to saints and Mary" are to be understood as "petitions," and it's just that, we petition them to pray for us, much like how we ask others to intercede, to pray for us, but again, even more so. Their prayers after all are more efficacious than that of any person on earth (or would you claim that there is someone here on earth that's more righteous than any saint in heaven, the "saints in light", who have been "made perfect"?). Let's at least settle that point before moving forward. Stop with the lies that Catholics worship our Blessed Mother Mary. One of the problems in Protestantism is that Protestants fail to see that it is a covenantal relationship; we are a family. God did not intend it to be purely personal, that it would be purely "me and God" thing. Again, Protestants miss the point that this is a covenantal relationship. On the other hand, let me tell you this, Protestants have developed an Anti-Marian sentiment which have been running deep within Protestantism, with others even going out of their way to honor Mary as little as possible, some even speaking disparagingly about Mary (hardly someone that "all generations" are supposed to "call Blessed," someone supposed to be "full of grace," someone who is supposed to be our mother, as earlier mentioned, that we are consequently mandated to honor).

The first two parables stand in stark juxtaposition to the story of the young man who asked what more he needed to do and Christ told him he only lacked one thing, that he should sell all he has and give the proceeds to the poor. He went away sad because he had many things. The moral Christ taught from that encounter is that it is hard for people who have much and want to hold on to it to please God and so gain admittance to heaven. Why would we not give God all that we have - it's all His anyway, He only allows us to use it for awhile.
@Hmm_Ace_Attorney_Channel
@Hmm_Ace_Attorney_Channel Год назад
Ah, but the word "all" is not used in "Sell what you have". The real point here is not that the man was unwilling to give up everything for Christ, he was also unwilling to give up *anything*. Worship requires sacrifice. If you cannot sacrifice for God, you cannot worship him either. "Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity." St Matthew 7:21‭-‬23
@johnproffitt3272
@johnproffitt3272 Год назад
@@Hmm_Ace_Attorney_Channel The word "all" is not specifically present in the Greek, but the implication is certainly present in the context. I would add that Christ not only asked for this sacrifice of his possessions, but He asked that the man then commit his life to following Christ. Rather than accept this remedy, the young man chose to keep all that he owned, and rather than walking with, he chose to walk away. We want what we want, it is hard to give up control of our lives and transfer that control to Christ, but that is the essence of discipleship. As John the Baptist said, "He must increase, and I must decrease." As disciples, we must conform our lives to the life of the one we follow, not only for our benefit, but as an example to all who see us.

Hear you, but did Mary and Joseph give away the silver and gold that was given to them by the wise men? Did joseph give away the wood his hands fashened that served his work that provide the things they needed? or is it more a state of mind and being? That like christ said the sabath was made for man, and not man for the sabath. A day of rest for him. To serve him. Not that man should serve the sabath, and not walk around or do anything like not heal a person. So giving it all is seen more that the created things are to serve us, and not us caught in a state of mind of possessing to the point that we become servants to them. A man has a race car which he loves. Instead of driving someone to the hospital fast, or using it to drive him to the grocery store fast, or picking his kids up from school fast. He works everyday to pay for its chrome, and paint. He does not teach his own children for his time is used to build his own race car. He puts it up on jacks in the garage and gloats and looks at it shine and listens to the engine rumble day after day. and on those days forgets God made every piece of material that the car is made of. This is the 2 Minds. 1 of possesion, the other of serving the kingdom of service. self and others being ever mindful Both self and others were made by God. Then continually giving God thanks for both. Self, if one does not have he can not give it away, and others giving yourself away to serve them. Once tithing and all its tendancies are removed from the equation the the homily will be great. For in that mind even that must be given away, Because the question is who should one give it away to? Tithing is like the papers of Divorce. Moses include that not because it was what God wanted but rather beacuse man continues to fail to recognise what fully is demanded of him in that contract.

16:33 is everything that is wrong with Catholicism, no emphasis on reading the bible/scripture. even he has not read the whole thing! so many have been mislead by the teachings of priests who are supposed to relay the bible to their flock but never emphasise that the flock read it them selves. probably the single most disappointing aspect of Catholicism.

Please don’t say this. We always do a reading of the Old Testament, then New Testament, then a gospel reading at every mass. To listen to the literal commands of Jesus, you must read the gospel.
