Starting with an introduction to the North Staffordshire coalfield, and showing the working life of miners, the migration of miners to North Staffordshire, local pit disasters, the Miners' Strike and the end of the coal industry when Silverdale closed in 1998 - the last deep coal mine in Staffordshire.
