Some people didn't even know that whitney Houston was the producer of this movie and it's 2004 sequel she also produced the Cheetah girls movie franchise
The cheerleader is Mandy Moore she went on to play the voice of Rapunzel in Tangled which is another great Disney movie if you haven’t watched. This is one of my favorite movies.
16:27 Not sure if you caught the reference but Frida Kahlo is a famous Spanish painter who notably had very prominent eyebrows. It’s kind of a mean joke on both fronts.
This movie is so special to me. It's funny, it's wholesome, it's beautiful and it's got Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews! A funny little BTS note, I know it's not shown here but the scene where Mia falls on the bleachers was not scripted. Anne actually did fall and it was kept in! 😂
Indeed it was, Anne Hathaway said that she was a real life klutz, some other klutz moments were real, too. She could, however, play basketball, which she could not on purpose, in this movie.
I've lived in the East Bay across from the City since 2012 and I've been to that place at 25 mins in where the Queen arm wrestles that old school arcade machine a couple of times. When my mom visits we take a boat tour around Alcatraz at Pier 30 something I believe and there's a warehouse there that is a museum of vintage arcade games, ranging from traditional "test your strength" things like this and the hammer game where you hit the thing on the bottom with a big rubber mallet and try to get the bell at the top to ring, to more modern games like ski ball, foozeball, The Addams Family and Indiana Jones pinball machines. There's 50¢ fortune tellers (one is the Sorting Hat from Harry Potter but it doesn't tell you which Hogwarts house you belong in, the little card just has a generic fortune, similar to what you'd find in a fortune cookie. Definitely disappointing but oh well). Everything costs between 25-50¢ and it's just a fun and wholesome way to spend an afternoon in San Fransisco.😢
@@Divamarja_CA no, I didn't know it existed. I am familiar with a decent area of Alameda since I have close friends who live on Shoreline Drive but it's been quite some time since I've gone through the tube to visit the island for any reason but before COVID my husband and I went all the time.
The guy who played josh is also the same guy who voiced sid Phillips the evil next door neighbor kid in toy story (1995) and adult sid in toy story 3 (2010)
@@msbaby20 best Disney channel original movie ever I'm sad that it didn't get any ratings back in day Disney channel started getting ratings when Halloweentown premiered in 1998
I’m so glad you’re enjoyed this! I never really read the book but this was my first Anne Hathaway movie and yeah I’m a big fan! Fun fact: When Anne Hathaway went to audition for the role, she literally fell out of the chair during the audition and right there is when the director knew that she was their Princess Mia of Genovia. Also I love Julie Andrews! I think my favorite part has always been where Mia and her Clarisse have a day out, and she is educated on the meaning of shut up in the teenage language. Joe is certainly the MVP; the moment when Mia fell on the bleachers, Héctor Elizondo was genuinely concerned as that moment was not scripted. I really recommend you watch the sequel as it’s not only funny, but as charming and empowering. Other Anne Hathaway films I recommend are Les Misérables, The Devil Wears Prada, Ella Enchanted, Get Smart, The Hustle, Rohan Dhal The Witches (2020), and Ocean 8. For more Julie Andrews I must recommend Eloise at the Plaza, Eloise at Christmas, and Tooth Fairy. For Héctor Elizondo, I recommend Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, Tortilla Soup, Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman, and The Lego Batman Movie. If you’re also looking for a good romcom with royalty I highly recommend Red, White and Royal Blue. I also recommend the series Young Royals. 👩🏻🦱👑📔✍🏻🩵💛🖤🤍
I love how grandma says " not one word about this till that night," then proceeded to totally change her hairstyle and have her taken to school in a limo. Yep, no one will notice at all.
We are all Royalty in our hearts!!!! So, no Royal grandmother needed...just claim your own Royal title and live your best life! (The tiara is optional...but it really adds a spark/glitter to your outfit!)
*ATTENTION! if you had&have curly hair, glasses, braces, you were&are NOT ugly for it! it’s part of what made&makes you beautiful!(: and sorry if this movie hurt you!*
My GAWD that dancing lesson scene reminded me back in the 5th grade when my P.E class teacher paired us up boy & girl to learn how to dance for a Valentine's Dance that was coming up lol (the parents ended up not allowing me to go -_-) I was a little taller than my partner so it was a little hard to do like the under the arm spinning thing XD
I'm not sure if you react to TV shows. But if you ever do I want to recommend the new AMC show Interview With The Vampire it's so amazing, one of the best new shows in recent years, I would love to see OGB react to it. Season 1 is only 7 episodes. Season 2 is gonna premiere on May 12th. Thank you for reading my suggestion. And may I get a Heart on my comment? thank you🥰
A good cast made this movie lots of fun. My natural hair was very much like the before. I would joke that velcro was invented by a former boyfriend of mine who got the idea while trying to run his fingers through my hair.
Hey Sam! This is one of my favorite Anne Hathaway films, and one of my favorite Julie Andrews films. The sequel is a must see, and there might be a third coming, but it won't be directed by Garry Marshall, who directed both films, as he passed a few years ago. But Anne and Julie have both expressed interest in doing a third one. Some fun facts: - Queen Clarisse is a much nastier person in the books, and there are a lot of them. The series starts as a YA series, and the last couple of books are actual adult novels all by Meg Cabot. At least one is a novel by "Mia" herself. - Michael, the musician, is played by Robert Schwartzman, who is front man for the band Rooney (which appears in the garage scene, playing one of their songs, "Blueside"). He's also a member of Hollywood royalty as he is a member of the Coppola family. His uncle is Francis Ford Coppola (the Oscar-winning writer-director of The Godfather films, Apocalypse Now, and The Outsiders among many others), his mother is Talia Shire (who played Connie Corleone in The Godfather films, and Adrian Balboa in the Rocky films), brother of actor Jason Schwartzman, cousin to writer-director Sofia Coppola (Lost In Translation, The Virgin Suicides), and cousin to Oscar-winning actor Nicholas Cage (Best Actor - Leaving Las Vegas, The Rock, Con-Air, & Face-Off). Originally, Schwartzman wanted to be credited as Robert Cage, tipping his hat to cousin, Nic Cage...but the promo materials were already printed. He still acts, but he's more focused on music, and this is is his only major credit so far. - This was Anne Hathaway's debut as a film actress. She had done a shortlived series, but this was her big break. - Hector Elizondo, who plays Joseph, is a staple in all of director Garry Marshall's films. - The late Prince of Genovia is played by two different people. In the photograph and in flashbacks of Mia's dad is Gerald Hathaway, Anne's father. The letter to Mia is read by actor Rene Auberjoinois, a well-known character actor from film and TV. He was the preacher in The Patriot, Father Mulcahy in the film M*A*S*H, and is best known as Constable Odo in the series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. - This was Julie Andrews's first Disney film in 37 years. Her prior Disney film earned her an Oscar for Best Actress...Mary Poppins. Julie had been semi-retired from acting when she did the film, and this jump started her acting again.
Having grown up in the Bay Area....one of my oldest friends was an extra in this and I remember when she filmed it. She's the background blonde during the beach party....the one who waves to the camera).
If you have never seen it, please check out Victoria/Victoria with the incomparable Julie Andrews. I really enjoyed watching this one with you, as always. Peace …
Anne Hathaway's debut, big break. I may be wrong, but I believe Julie Andrews had taken a break, and this was her return to acting. This is before Heather Matarazzo came out, I believe. I was part of the junket for A Walk to Remember. Mandy Moore was a sweetheart. Michael is Robert Scwartzman. He is the singer in Rooney. His family is in the business. Some have had a it of success. His mom is Talia Shire (Adienne from Rocky, Vito Corleone's daughter in the Godfather films. His uncke is Francis Ford Coppola who dorected the Godfather filbs. I'm sure others have pointed out that Anne slipping on the stands was real. Nick Cage is his cousin. Jason Schwartzman is his brother (the final villain in Scott Pilgrim vs The World, oroginal drummer of Phantom Planet). The gym teacher is Mindy Burbano who was a news entertainment reporter. I put together a folm reel of her appearances in this. Shortly after I met her and got to tell her that at the Birds of Prey TV show premier party. She ended up marrying a millionaire (he may actually be a billionaire). The Princess Diaries 2 is not nearly as good, but has worthy moments. I've been to the place with the mechanical arm wrestling.
Yaassss! 🥰 Thank you for being here today! (As they say in the movie) 🙏❤️ Hope you watch the 2nd one as well! This one is great but the sequel is ten times better 😍
*I’ve always hated that movie due it making it seem like braces, glasses, curly hair are ugly and even on set the hair piece was a joke for them and it rubs me the wrong way that Julie Andrews accepted to do it… live and learn hey…*
In my school, cheerleaders were allowed to wear their outfits if there was a game they had to attend after school. It was considered acceptable attire as it is technically a school issued uniform.
