It’s only a hug if they wrap all the way around. The bugs are likely wrapping around his arms, and it takes about 10 to make it around an arm. More near the shoulders, but fingers should only take 2-3 bugs to give him a hug

💖⚡😀I've been saying this for a while! Maybe in order to count as a hug, the smallest possible human hug is what we should be using as our standard hug unit. Lets say its 60% of the circumference of his torso. Lets say his torso is 32". 60% of 32" is 19.2". Fireflies can reach up to 1 inch. If we take the standard hug size of 19.2 and round up to 20, thats 20 one-inch fireflies per hug. 10'000 fireflies divided by 20 fireflies per hug = 500 hugs at @ 1 hug per 20 fireflies. Each 20FF group of insects can hug him exactly twice for 1'000 hugs from 10'000 lightning bugs. Or maybe it's more the metaphorical sense that light given off by the 10,000 lightning bugs is the "hug" but only 1,000 of those lightning bugs can illuminate him at a time with the rest having a small percentage of buglight peeking through the cloud of lightning bugs directly Illuminating him.

Maybe they stacked up too much? Like at any point he was getting 1/10 of them hugging him then the next one is try to take over for the next hug. The standard size a firefly wouldn't allow all 10k to hug him at once with a human surface area. The legs aren't even super long to allow them to hug multiple fireflies
I was curious about this myself so i went to verify this on my own by asking a bunch of fireflies to help me test it. As expected, they just looked at me funny and flew off (i think a few of them flipped me off too). Now, ill never know. 😢

Probably means the fireflies form a 1,000 groups of 10,000. Each group of 10k fireflies gives him a hug and it happens 1k times. He does state that there are 10m fireflies present. One bug isn't big enough to hug a human, that's why they build 1000 chains of 10 bugs each to hug him. A chain of 10 bugs would still be relatively short, but maybe enough to at least hug a human finger. 1.000×10=10.000
