Patreon: patreon.com/quikreviews A rant about Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier after the game being shutdown after only being in service for less than a year. Watch the video to find out more.
Square Enix has never released a standalone masterpiece. Squaresoft was the developer that released all of those amazing titles. SE being Shinra is a great and ironic analogy
Like, I didn't like First Soldier, but complaining about them trying a different genre with Final Fantasy is what's asinine? Final Fantasy has tested waters in almost every genre out there lol. Kinda shows you don't know much about the series if that's the complaint
I don't think the game was terrible but I do think it was a mistake to only release it on smartphones. And I think it was a mistake to not have any sort of story in it.
I really think the game could have been something. I'm not even a huge fan of BR games to begin with, but at least it was a fresh take on the genre. I made 2 videos on FS and both were praising the concept, but both were a premonition for it's inevitable death in retrospect. It needed a port to PC or console. I enjoyed the game (but only because I was able to sync a PS4 controller to my android) touchscreen controls are crap. The game had potential
I was a big mobile gamer around the time this game went live so and had plenty of experience with third and first person mobile battle royales, so I was excited to play this. Come launch day the touch controls felt AWFUL, and I dropped it day one. Them closing the servers so early just proves to me this game was just a rushed job that couldn’t meet expectations.
If haven’t played CODM or Apexm then you haven’t played any shooter yet. 2nd This was intended to play new ppl for new money and It’s only sucks bcaz they didn’t have a good team working on the game . Tencent would have done a way better job. The game lacked main must have br features and aiming sucks .
I really wanted to experience a actual faithful and complete ff7r and square enix or as I like to call them Japanese ea I was enjoying the story up until it was turned into dogshit and one of the worst games I've ever played how people praised Japanese ea for it I will never understand
@@thatguybis1997 yeah Destroys beloved IPS and licenses (Marvel for square star wars for ea) Has series that made them iconic that has since been destroyed (More than can even be counted) Trying to lead the way in new shitty business practices (EA loot boxes Square NFTs and Mobile games) Destroys beloved studios that made good games before both are countless Ones that piss me off in particular are Visceral studios Black box studios United front games Crystal dynamics Edios Montreal And way more
@@thatguybis1997 and if ever crisis ends up being a good remake I'll just wait until it's shut down and a cracked apk comes out that takes out the mtx because fuck giving square enix money
Honestly, this review is definitely one sided. My memories with the game were actually really good. The controls? Yeah they were definitely bad. The game? Yeah it was definitely a cash grab. But all of it was obviously cosmetics, I didn't pay a single penny and had an absolute blast. Battle Royale is just a fun genre and it sucks that Square's only attempt at it was so horrible. The game had really good ideas. No Battle Royale before this implemented melee combat like this before at the time (until Fortnite did it later on in it's life) and the materia system in a shooter worked shockingly well for how bad the controls were. It's genuinely a shame this never got a console or PC port cause I guarantee you it would've seen a much higher player count.
I’m gonna disagree and say this would’ve been a failure either way. Final Fantasy fans don’t play battle royales enough for this to have lasted in any significant way. It would’ve failed regardless.
@@thatguybis1997 oh yeah I understand that ff fans don't play Battle Royale. Exploring the genre however, wasn't the problem. It was mainly the execution. The game was obviously a cash grab and square treated it as such. And on top of that, Nomura had no interest in Battle Royales meaning the project had to be lead by someone else. Ultimately dooming it before it even began, which I find quite saddening. I really do believe that if this was handled right, this could've been a game that br fans and eventually even ff fans would enjoy.
I just think Square Enix games are over rated, I've become more selective when it comes to buying games from them. I did not know First Soldier was shutdown, but I don't have strong feelings about FF7 anymore. I just think the FF7R storyline could be so much better, but they are padding it with supporting characters like Marle, Chadley, Mireille and countless others. I'm just going to sit on the fence and enjoy what other games developers make, I'm done with Square Enix.
Square-Enix is Neither squaresoft or Enix. Different financial team that doesn't give 2 shits about products released, as long as it makes money. Perhaps they felt First soldier would cannibalise Ever crisis so they ripped it down lol.
Battle Royal is the best genre of games to ever touch mobile. FFS A-Team just did a terrible job. Games like CODM WZM & Apexm are giving u the same Console/Pc experience on Mobile. If you’ve played them and still don’t think so trust me it’s a skill issue.
