Ann, I'm your mum's friend from primary school :) What you're doing is great. Keep it up, you are an inspiration. No one is too young or too old (lucky for us oldies ;) to create wonderful things

Ann, I mentioned seeing your talk to my grade 5/6 students and a number really perked up and said they had already heard of you and thought your invention was so cool! You are an inspiration for so many--thank you! Your work gives others courage. :)

Honestly I've followed your work and RU-vid for a while and I'm truly amazed from your efforts and accomplishments! I tried to enter my project into the Google science fair but unfortunately did not make it...

I'm just glad she didn't try to blame "big flashlight" industry for her failure.

That's impressive. This woman is years beyond her age. She was only 17 years old in this Ted Talk. Now she's a multimillionaire and made the forbes list and she's only 22!

kinetic energy to be harnessed for electricity was one of my ideas but never got it to reality at least not yet

It already exists. Its called the electric generator.

I don't get it, what's so special about a heat powered flashlight? How is that a step up from a battery or a kinetic shaking flashlight?
@sazsafrazs4641
@sazsafrazs4641 7 лет назад
STEAM_Vortex its to be used as an environmentally friendly approach to a flashlight. Battery's are thrown out, which creates waste, and kinetic flashlights take time and effort to use. This was made as an easy way to study, take walks, etc, all while being quiet and environmentally friendly.

OSandnerProductions Pffft, have you seen the flashlight? Three led's barely flickering hardly constitute's a flashlight; if we're talking third world countries which is where you're all envisioning this "flashlight" being used, don't you think the warmth of the local atmosphere will make the temperature differential even less than the environment which she's tested it in? I'm sorry, battery is more energy efficient if you're using solar energy to charge it; this idea is a fad that in reality would barely make any difference at all.

The Raven yes I have seen the flashlight. My dad was her student when she made it! It does work, at least in the heat of a BC summer, which is at least 15 degrees.

patents are unneccessary and are actually a way to slow down the invention process.
@vitalin.8581
@vitalin.8581 7 лет назад
You spend a lot of time to invent something, then you get 1000 dollars for the whole thing and somebody takes your invention and gets 10000000 on production of it. isnt it unfair? But with patent this amount of money could be more spread among inventor and producers, who sell it after. If there were no patents how would a person desire to invent if his invention would not give him/her any benefits? would it be normal to pay for a car and not to pay for invention? why then pay for everything else? inventors sell their inventions, producers sell their production, service companies sell their services. The root is not in patents, it is in money. maybe money is a bad source of development and life in our society and may be there should be another conception, which would bring piece and a true desire of development, without money and domination. It is hard to imagine, but I do not think that it is impossible magic.

The problem with inventions is that copyrite can be breached.

water, i understand that at age 17 you would have done a better job speaking to adults in a theatre and knowing it was all filmed to be viewed by millions. You should not compare other people with you. You where a gifted speaker at that age and surely a lot more
