@@TheIndigo1child A large Yankee Candle can go for around $35 each, so it’s not like they’re any cheaper here… And yeah, things that are handcrafted are more expensive because they are unable to take advantage of economies of scale.

What's funniest sometimes I would pour hot candle wax on my hands and my friends thought I was crazy and I'm just like..... It's not hot enough to burn, it's just kind of hot. And I'm talking about like little tea light candles not some huge candle that's been burning for 4 hours. I told my friend to hold out their hand and I would show them that it wasn't that painful, they got a tiny bit of wax on them and they screamed and pulled their hand back and ran Cold water on it..... No they didn't actually get a burn or a blister and they seemed super overdramatic lol.

Sort of similar to how broken ceramics are repaired (& celebrated) by using gold to fix & show the cracks, creating something beautiful from broken ceramic items. Japanese do not throw things out like Americans, they repair them & I respect that. My father was an engineer & he fixed everything that was mechanical but he wouldn’t ever have thought to fix a broken vase in the manner that Japanese do.
@user-np9jp7go5f
@user-np9jp7go5f Месяц назад
@@PapaElegua If that's the case, why not try making some as a hobby? I'm reluctant to display something I made at home or give it to someone I know, but it's worth it to display it at home. I think it is good! This is what I'm going to make next time I break a plate or vase. I have to be careful about getting injured though.

Curious how big and how long the candle burns for. Because commercially made 250g - 300g candles usually are around $30 to $50 and will burn for 45 hours usually. So if the hand crafted candles burn just as long then they are around the same price as commercially made ones, while being more beautiful and kinder to the environment.
@thatchick1205
@thatchick1205 2 месяца назад
They are $70 for 2!! Idk this feels like a scam to me. They look very small too definitely not going to burn to 45 hours. That’s obvious from the video. I’m sure you could find better one cheaper out there that are handmade too. You can see how small they are at the end. They are really small so they will probably burn pretty fast too.

So pretty! My relatives make candles in bulk by hanging wicks off a round wheel thing and they pour the wax down the wicks and turn the wheel to go to the next candle. They repeat this multiple times until they apply all the layers of wax. Then they trim the wicks and wax. The shape and thickness is not as consistent as the candle moulds used here, but they have the flexibility of making thinner or thicker candles using the same equipment.
