私も製造業ですが一般の製造業と言えばNC,ロボットのオンパレードで自分のやっていることは時代遅れもいいとこだなぁと日々感じて作業していましたがこのビデオを見てほっとしました。

The engineer in me looks at every step of this production and keeps thinking of ways to automate it. I am too far gone. Ps: especially the pick and place output. Why have someone handle the boards and not just put the reflow oven at the end of the pick and place?

ty for the video. i was surprised how much manual labor is involved, i guess they dont produce high amounts of each type of lighting or there would be more automation. and the production machines are very slow compared to what i am used to especialy the milling. the turning would be done in a machine where the material is automaticaly loaded through the turning spindle. so depending on the quantity produced, there is a lot of room for optimizing. im sorry, dont want to criticize, just that i was constantly involved in improving processes in production that makes me wonder why.

If this really is the manufacturing process of these LED-lights, they must be pretty darn expensive.

After having seen a large number of these kinds of videos, even if I hadn't read the title or seen the language of the text on parts etc. in the video, it would be INSTANTLY obvious this wasn't a factory in China (let alone a ramshackle Indian operation with all the workers in flip-flops and working on the floor). The exquisite and *extreme* attention to detail, the carefulness in handling the product, the cleanliness and highly orderly nature of the facilities, the meticulous quality control (thermal infrared imaging of final product to ensure even heat dissipation) even the overall relatively low ambient noise level of most of the workspace (I can hear sounds like gloves brushing against packaging) all point to one self-evident conclusion: Japanese culture of quality - "Kaizen".

This factory really needs to look into a better machining floor layout. One mill-lathe with an automatic bar-feed is a single process cell that could entirely replace three stations of their current sequence.
